Tuesday No Stupid Questions Thread - July 17, 2018

Welcome newcomers to the fog! Here you can ask any sort of questions about Dead by Daylight, from gameplay mechanics to the current meta and strats for certain killers / survivors / maps / what have you.

Some rules and guidelines specific to this thread;

  • Top-level comments must contain a question about Dead by Daylight, the fanbase surrounding the game or the subreddit itself.
  • No complaint questions. ('why don't the devs fix this shit?')
  • No concept / suggestion questions. ('hey wouldn't it be cool if x was in the game?')
  • No tech support questions. ('i'm getting x bug/error, how to fix this?')

  • /r/deadbydaylight is not a direct line to BHVR.
  • Uncivil behavior and encouraging cheating will be more stringently moderated in this thread. We want to be welcoming to newcomers to the game.

I can't tell you how many times I've lost sight of a kate or long-haired jake only for their position to be shown to me because their hair is glitching from behind a tree. It really is an unfair advantage for killers

Pretty much as soon as I boot killer up, I get the shakes, I start feeling worrisome, doubt myself, etc. it's just not a good time. I mean, I have my own anxiety issues separate from this game, but I digress, playing killer just really brings it out. Yes, I know...it sounds pathetic. "He gets anxiety over a dumb game lol wtf?" Yup...that happens. But I was just curious if anyone else has this problem? :/

Dead by Daylight Fan Chapter: A Feast for The Entity

New Killer: The Emissary

The purpose of the trials was to give and take hope to the poor souls he brought in. To feed The Entity. However, it just wasn't becoming like that. The survivors had become strong-- every new morsel brought more and more problems. They were teaching each other, honing their skills! When before they were prey, now they are predator, and this will not do. In a starved rage, The Entity lashed out at his servants to do better, as none of them could satiate its hunger! Ojomo was weak, most of the others' results were spotty at best, only Thompson and Smithson could sate the gaping maw for a short while. The Entity, hungering for more and feeling insulted, took matters into its own hands... The Emissary was born of its malice: a writhing mass of tentacles, hooks, claws, corvid legs and a spider's head. The dark God, pleased with his instrument of vengeance, sent The Emissary to fulfill his taste for hope. Where before there was a famine, there will be a feast for The Entity.

Movement Speed: 113%, Terror Radius: 32 meters

Power: Hand of The Entity - As if manifesting the power of its creator, The Emissary can construct obstacles out of thin air. Cycle between these with the Secondary Action key (LCtrl by default).

-Obs 1: Wall of Claws - A wall similar to Blood Warden appears 0.5 seconds after casting the ability, and persists for 4 seconds, or until cancelled by activating the power again.

-Obs 2: Binding Roots - After a 0.5 second delay, the black circle of claws appears on the ground, rooting any survivor who steps in it for 4 seconds, or until they are hit. The black circle lasts 10 seconds, but is cancelled when the ability is cast again. Radius is similar to Hag Trap's.

-Obs 3: Nightmare Arena - After a 0.5 second delay, create a 32 meter arena of The Entity's claws for 10 seconds, preventing exit (but not entry). The dome will be centered on The Emissary's position at the time of casting, and is cancelled when the ability is cast again.

The Emissary has 3 teachable perks

  • Live to Serve: When the Entity is happy, you are happy. You hope to keep it that way. Whenever a survivor is hooked, gain a token. For every token, gain a 5/10/15% bonus to attack recovery speed. Lose a token whenever a survivor is unhooked. "It serves no purpose than to please that spider thing, but I'll be damned if it doesn't do a good job... -Unknown"
  • It Sees Us: You were created to fill them with dread, and so you shall. Unlocks potential in one's aura reading abilities. Injured survivors standing still for 2 seconds within 8/16/24 meters of you have their auras revealed to you and every survivor. "How can it see us? How can it fucking see us?! -David King"
  • Hex: Prolong the Pain: If they cannot progress, they cannot escape. Master will be pleased. For every generator uncompleted, increase the repair time of every generator by 5/7/9%. "It aims to break our resolve until we are but morsels. - Unknown"

The Emissary's Memento Mori: Dark Maiden - The Emissary lifts the survivor up into a cage of claws forming on its chest. The survivor is forced inside, screaming, as the cage closes in on them Iron Maiden style, killing them. The cage opens up, and they fall haphazardly onto the floor as The Entity's claws form above The Emissary to lift off their spirit once more. (I know it'd be stupid, but It would be cool for this to count as a sacrifice!

New Survivor: Will Peters

A fat sack of shit, a useless worm, a gluttonous fool; Will was used to these words. Not from others, but from himself. Despite the accident that killed his father taking place on a far-off highway, Will felt it was his fault. Despite excellent performance during his schooling, Will's depression often caused him to see everything as bleak and hopeless. He was obese, most of his "skills" were useless hobbies, and he just didn't see a future for himself. Despite multiple attempts to combat it at home, his mind would not let up. Eventually, thinking it would be the best solution, he attempted to stop everything. Go to the woods, cut off communications, no one would miss him, that was the plan. About halfway into said plan, something came over him: a wave of doubt. Throwing the instruments of his own demise onto the grassy floor, Will decided this wasn't the way, that he would make a change! The Entity had other plans. As the spidery claws dragged him through the void, he awoke at the campfire, ever burning. Despite his nature, he felt a sense of hope here. A new start, a way to overcome what he once was. Where he was devoid of hope back home, it became all he had in The Fog.

Will had 3 teachable perks.

  • Oddstep - You were fast, but never too athletic. While sprinting, run at 103/105/107% normal sprint speed, but suffer constantly from** Exhaustio**n.

  • Rise to the Challenge - These people are your friends now, and nobody's gonna hurt them! Once per trial, approach The Killer from behind and press the ability key (E by default) to stab them in the back, stunning them for 2/3/3 seconds. However, you suffer from the Exposed effect for** 30/25/2**0 seconds, denoted by a red glow.

"You wanna hurt someone? Then put him down and let's dance, bitch! -Will Peters"

  • There is Hope Yet - You're not going to cause your downfall again, are you? Every 15 seconds in a chase, gain a token. For every token, gain a** 1/2/3% movement speed increase, up to a max of 2/3/4 tokens. All tokens are lost upon being hit, going down, throwing a pallet down, vaulting, hiding in a locker, or escaping a chase. For every token lost, lose 1% movement speed for 5 seconds. The debuff can only stack up to 4**%

"You're better than this, Billy! I've seen you go through worse and still come out on top. -Mrs. Peters"

Feedback, as always, is appreciated!

Edit: Changed some numbers around, removed "killer sees your aura" to "you are exposed" on RttC. Removed the stacking slow time from TiHY, reduced time to 5 seconds.
