It was a day that was supposed to be a celebration of our past glories. The anniversary of Six Fronts — the victory that united the City and gave us the Vanguard. Guardians donned ceremonial armor to commemorate the event, and gathered for a rousing speech by the Speaker. Then everything came apart when the Red Legion struck.

The Tower fell. The City was lost. Thousands of lives were lost with it. It was our lowest point since the Collapse. But humanity is not so easily extinguished.

We fought back. We recovered our lost Light. With the awakening of the Traveler, we faced our conqueror and prevailed. We reclaimed our home. We entered a new Golden Age.

That was almost a year ago.

Now, humanity is once again victorious: against the overwhelming might of Ghaul and the Red Legion; against Panoptes and the infinite threat of the Vex; against Xol and the unfathomable hordes of the Hive. More than ever, the City is grateful for their seemingly invincible Guardian protectors. And more than ever, humanity wants to show that gratitude.

Solstice of Heroes begins on Tuesday, July 31. This event is held in the Tower, and allows the inhabitants of the City to celebrate and thank Guardians for bravely defending them. During this time of celebration, Guardians will once again don the now-broken ceremonial armor from the day the City was lost to the Red Legion. They do this for many reasons: to remind themselves of what it's like to not be invincible; to challenge themselves and thus inspire the City even more; and to eventually reforge that broken gear into something stronger... just as humanity has been broken and reforged over and over again for hundreds of years.

Guardians will meditate on their journey through the Red War and take on additional challenges in those memories. They will marvel at the resurgence of the Traveler, as the elements themselves flare into existence during their adventures. And they'll do it all while humanity celebrates their past, present, and future.

Ikora Rey is the Tower's representative for the Solstice of Heroes event. She'll direct you to the center of the Tower, where the City has erected the Statue of Heroes as the focal point for the event. The statue will track your Moments of Triumph progress, and grant you the Solstice of Heroes event armor that you will begin upgrading.

New Armor to Upgrade

After you visit the Statue of Heroes, you will receive an uncommon "Shattered" armor set at Power 240. On each armor piece is a series of objectives that you will need to complete to upgrade the armor. Once you have completed the objectives, return to the Statue of Heroes to upgrade to the next set.

After you upgrade your Shattered set, you'll receive the "Rekindled" set at Power 340 — with a new list of objectives. Once you complete those objectives, your reward is the "Resplendent" Armor Set at Power 400. One final group of objectives to complete, and you'll unlock the Masterwork version of the armor set.

If you love the way the Shattered or Rekindled sets look, and would rather show those off, we've got you covered. Each Resplendent Armor Set offers the previous versions as ornaments, so you can pick and choose how each piece looks.


Redux Missions

One of the ways you'll upgrade your armor during the event is through Redux Missions. We have hand selected 5 story missions and given them some slight alterations. Each mission can be accessed in the Tower by finding its statue. Here are the five missions for the event:

Moments of Triumph

Many of you have already begun completing your Moments of Triumph, currently being tracked on Bungie.net. The final five Triumphs will become available at the beginning of the Solstice Heroes event, and can be tracked in-game. Your Triumphs will be tracked by in-game bounties that are obtained at the Statue of Heroes. As you complete and turn in those Bounties, you'll unlock rewards that can be redeemed at the Statue.

Extras

There's also the Solstice Engram available from Tess Everis. You can earn three per account by completing the event Milestone on each of your characters. No matter what activity you play in Destiny 2 during Solstice of Heroes, you'll receive one Solstice Engram in addition to the Bright Engram you earn for leveling up.

Armor Glows also come from the Solstice Engram. These can be applied to any version of the Solstice of Heroes armor sets, to provide Guardians with an enhanced look. Armor Glows are unlocked permanently, like ornaments, and they shine brightest when your subclass element aligns with the element of the Glow.


Developer Insights

In preparation for the Solstice of Heroes event, he July Update for Destiny 2 kicks off for all Destiny 2 players on July 17, 2018. This update introduces 6v6 Quickplay for the Crucible, Iron Banner upgrades, Exotic Armor tuning, new Exotic Catalysts, Prestige Raid Lairs, Vanguard and Crucible Bounties, the Moments of Triumph event with 400 Light gear, and more.

Moments of Triumph

  • Moments of Triumph bounties will become available in-game for the Solstice of Heroes event starting July 31, 2018.

    • Players may access a set number of Triumphs on Bungie.net prior to the event beginning.
    • Players can complete Triumphs to earn points that they can trade for rewards such as emblems, a Sparrow, and a code to purchase a special T-shirt.
  • When the summer event becomes available on July 31, 2018, players can receive these Triumph bounties from the special summer event vendor and will have the entirety of the event to complete them.

  • Triumphs are based on account-specific data; once a Triumph has been claimed and redeemed for points, it cannot be claimed for points on another character.

  • All Triumphs can be tracked via bungie.net; the highest values of a character on that account will be displayed.

  • In-game rewards will become available on July 31, 2018. Stay tuned to @Bungie for announcements of availability.

Investment

Bounties

  • 5 Crucible bounties a day will now be available from Shaxx.

  • 5 Vanguard bounties a day will now be available from Zavala.

  • These bounties rotate on a daily cadence.

  • Bounties can expire after you obtain them. Expiration of individual bounties is shown in the tooltip.

Exotic Masterworks

  • Catalysts for Legend of Acrius, Telesto, and Sleeper Simulant are now available as rewards from Prestige "Leviathan," Prestige "Leviathan, Eater of Worlds," and Prestige "Leviathan, Spire of Stars," respectively.

  • Exotic catalysts from Heroic strikes now have slightly higher drop chances.

  • The Skyburner's Oath Exotic catalyst from the "Leviathan" raid now has slightly higher drop chances.

  • The catalyst for Sturm can now be found by defeating enemies on Nessus.

Miscellaneous Quality-of-Life Changes

  • Adjusted Escalation Protocol weapon reward chances to be more deterministic.

    • Players improve their chances each time they defeat the boss.
  • Once all Mercury Forge weapons have been obtained, they become available for direct purchase from Brother Vance in the Lighthouse (second vendor page).

  • Momentum has been removed from Heroic adventures.

  • The "Pursuits" inventory bucket has been moved to the top of Inventory categories.

  • Fixed an issue where unequippable emotes could be selected.

  • Fixed an issue where no sound would play on increasing and decreasing the handicap on Challenge Cards.

  • Commas have been added to large numbers as separators on the IGCR and PGCR.

  • Fixed an issue which prevented the Season 3 Dead Orbit Gauntlet Ornament from receiving progress from Arcstriders using the Way of the Warrior subclass tree.

  • Armor may now be purchased from Iron Banner and Faction Rallies vendors.


Strikes

Strike Modifiers

  • Blackout: Now increases enemy melee damage significantly but is no longer a guaranteed one-shot kill for all players.

  • Glass: Slightly reduced the health and shield penalty.

  • Grounded: Significantly reduced incoming damage when you are airborne, to account for odd geometry that Guardians may not have any control over.

**Developer Insight:* The goal is to ensure these modifiers are noticeable, but when Guardians advance their Power and stats, they can notice themselves overcoming the debuffs.*

Nightfall

  • The Nightfall tutorial experience for new players has been updated to no longer call out pre-1.1.3 Nightfall mechanics.

Destinations

Mars

  • Fixed an issue that was preventing some players from accessing Mars adventures.

  • Fixed an issue that caused some open world chests on Mars to not drop Glimmer or Mars tokens.

  • Fixed an issue which prevented prophecy materials for Brother Vance from dropping from chests found on Mars.


Sandbox

Exotic Armor Updates

  • Hunter

    • Lucky Raspberry
      • Increased the chance to fully recharge Arcbolt Grenade on Arcbolt Grenade hits.
      • Now guarantees a full recharge when Arcbolt Grenade hits four targets.
    • St0mp-EE5
      • Increased benefits when using Strafe Jump and Triple Jump.
    • Young Ahamkara's Spine
      • Now also improves Tripmine Grenade's blast radius and throw speed, and makes your Tripmine Grenades harder to destroy.
      • Solar ability hits now grant some Tripmine Grenade energy (33%).
      • Added new FX treatment to the improved Tripmine Grenades to differentiate them from normal Tripmine Grenades.
      • Removed target-marking functionality.

  • Fixed the Rapid-Fire Frame intrinsic perk on Basilisk (Dead Orbit Shotgun).

  • Fixed an issue that impacted the recoil of West of Sunfall 7 and the Trials of the Nine Hand Cannon, A Cold Sweat.

  • Fixed an issue causing the Iron Banner Hand Cannon, Finite Impactor, to not properly track Masterwork statistics.


Raid

Prestige Raid Lairs

  • Each week, there is a curated weapon suite and a global activity modifier for Spire of Stars and Eater of Worlds Prestige. The weapon set and modifier will be the same across both activities.

    • Prestige Eater of Worlds will become available at 11 a.m. PDT on July 17, 2018.
    • Prestige Spire of Stars will become available at 10 a.m. PDT on July 18, 2018.
  • Prestige raid lairs will drop weapons at 400 Power and Exotic catalysts.

  • Raid armor ornaments will become unlockable.

Misc

  • Fixed an issue which prevented Hunters from receiving some loot chest rewards in the Spire of Stars raid lair.

PC

Clan Chat

  • Adds a new in-game text chat channel that allows online Destiny 2 clan members to communicate (in real time). This chat channel is separate from the companion clan chat channel.

Director Map PC (Mouse) User Experience

  • Scrolling area reduced to the edges of the game window.

  • Cursor is now restricted to game window when a map is active (mouse capture).

  • Edge scrolling now freezes when game window loses focus.

Misc

  • Fixed an issue which caused bluetooth headphones to not play sound properly on some PC configurations. For more info, please see the Vital Information section of our Destiny Audio Guide.

Crucible

Iron Banner Updates

  • The Iron Banner game mode now uses Iron Temple fire pits as capture zones instead of standard Control flags.

  • Added new Power Play rules unique to Iron Banner:

    • Upon capturing a third zone, all three zones lock for 20 seconds.
    • After 20 seconds, all three zones reset to neutral and must be recaptured.
  • Added new audio for fire pits and Power Play alerts.

  • Updated score and time limits to match standard Control now that Quickplay is also 6v6.

Private Match Bug Fixes

  • Private Match is no longer available to trial users.

Crucible Lab Update

Crucible Ranks Update

  • Players can now earn Valor Rank from the following playlists:

  • Joining a game in progress now protects your Valor Win Streak for that game.

    • If you lose: No penalties incurred to your Valor Win Streak.
    • If you win: Valor Win Streak increases.
  • Players will now be matched using their Glory Rank.

    • This means your opponents will be of similar rank to you.
    • The higher you climb, the tougher the opponent!
  • Glory Loss Streaks have been re-tuned to be less punishing over time.

    • Consecutive losses now decrease the Rank Points lost instead of increasing.
    • Streaks still cap out at five.
  • All Rank Streaks no longer reset once they hit their cap.

  • Fixed a bug where Rank Up toasts were not firing once a player hit orbit.

  • Fixed a bug where players who logged into a character for the first time after a weekly reset would incur the Glory Rank weekly award/penalty.

  • Fixed a bug where players were incorrectly hearing the rank points increase/decrease sounds where there was no rank attached to the activity.

  • Miscellaneous adjustments to increase the readability of enemy audio cues across all modes.

Eververse

Summer Event Engram

  • For the duration of Solstice of Heroes, players will earn a bonus Solstice Engram with each Prototype Engram earned through Prestige level-up.

  • When decrypting Solstice Engrams, players will receive new items until they've unlocked all items in the box. Once all items have been acquired, additional Solstice Engrams will award duplicate items. Players may track what items they've earned from the Solstice Engram through the engram's preview.

  • New item type: armor glows. Players who earn the Solstice of Heroes armor sets may use armor glows obtained from Eververse or the Solstice Engram.

    • Armor glows illuminate portions of the Solstice of Heroes armor and shine brightest when the element of the armor glow and the Guardian's subclass align.
    • Once obtained, armor glows may be used and re-used on any Solstice of Heroes armor piece, regardless of class.
  • During Solstice of Heroes, players may purchase event-exclusive items from Eververse for Bright Dust.

Prismatic Matrix

  • The Prismatic Matrix has been temporarily removed. It will return in Season 4.

  • Prismatic facets have been deprecated. Dismantling deprecated Prismatic facets will grant Bright Dust.


Other

HDR Calibration

  • Adds a calibration screen for HDR on all platforms. It can be accessed through the Brightness video setting when HDR is turned on.

GDPR Compliance

  • Updated LSLA screen in bootflow, including link to GDPR resources.

Item Preview Updates

DO NOT INFUSE YOUR 400 LIGHT WEAPONS

I infused my 400 light midnight coup into my 385 one to save my enemies defeated value and it stayed at 385. Something is bugged with them right now DO NOT INFUSE THEM

edit: mate don't downvote this its important for people to know, even if it is a feature they could lose their good weapons.

edit 2: So these 400/405 weapons are not supposed to be able to be infused. Seems like there is a bug which still lets some people infuse them but with no actual power increase.

So Title should say " DO NOT INFUSE YOUR 400 LIGHT WEAPONS, if possible"

Final edit: look at u/enjouakame comment I think that is a better explanation of the issue here after trying to figure out what has happened.

3 years ago - I made a promise to tell a Cinematic story of Kabr's Madness in the Vault of Glass.

♦ This was over two years of brain games to get this right. The amount of iterations the project went through was breaching insanity. I did many cuts, wrote multiple stories and then it sat dormant for about a year because I was not satisfied and didn't want it be labeled as a machinima. I recently scrapped all of this in favor of re-shooting in the 'Gone Girl' approach. Still shots with the Environment often being more characteristic than the cast members. As Fincher treats both as equals if you study his obsession with hidden C.G.I. There is ambiguity in the story being told, but if you listen to the lyrics, pay attention to the environment and the words on screen, there are multiple story threads and that is communicated through a slipping tonality. Each shot is painstakingly woven with this in consideration. There is only one scene with color correction, the rest is raw feed from a capture card. You will notice things are different each time you view it, and the female Kabr is tapping into more than just a glaring issue in the industry. Hint: there are more than two cast members. However, this is just a nod to an old project.

♦ Project Glass is actually about sending clear, concise and direct feedback to Bungie about Destiny 2 in a format I have not seen before. Through quality-grade editing, precision on opinionated substance without the bullshit and by tackling the war cries of the community - this project will aim to balance criticism and plausibility. Part 2 will act as a discussion about digging into the past, starting on smaller subjects and gradually building into more fragile territory. Hence the name, Glass. This may sound weird but a good reason why I don't like using some of the weapons in this game is because of the sound some of them make when you fire them.

Even though there are weapons out there with pretty good perks, I feel like the sound the weapon makes when you fire them makes a huge difference for my gameplay. For example, I got sick of using Nameless Midnight and Better Devils because of the "pfth pfth pfth" sound, even though they are high class weapons. To top it off, it's pretty annoying when different weapons have the same sound when firing. Some weapons can have entirely different models but the same gunfire noise.

Some of the blue weapons in this game have more satisfying, heavy sounds that feel like you're doing some work on enemies, even if you aren't. A good example is the blue handcannons. They look great and sound like an actual, heavy gun that deals massive damage, as opposed to something like an Omolon Handcannon.

I know people have mixed opinions on this subject, but I wish some of the gun sounds were reworked so they sound more satisfying when firing. Some weapon sounds had been reworked between Taken King and Rise of Iron, as well as between Vanilla D2 and Curse of Osiris (ex. Nameless Midnight sounded different). Some weapon sounds in the game are perfect, like Dire Promise or the IKELOS sniper. But others, like a variety of shotguns, need a distinct sound that separates different weapon frames from one another.

I'm trying to get friends back in the game and a lot of them don't use reddit or even check bungie.net. Please post patch notes in game so we can check anytime if we want. In fact, the weekly update would be nice to see in game too. I think everyone would be on same page if that was the case. I don't know if it's posted before but this is my drunk after work 2 cents. (Explains the 3am post)

Chill with the Raid Clears Req.. 50+ when your average at best doesn’t mean a thing!!

I get the raid req. are preferred, but people need to really chill on being such dicks about this on LFG.

Yesterday was getting a group together for raid and we jump in a quick "fresh run" group. First, it takes forever to start because some hype wanted "X amount of clears" by everyone in the group. He didn't post the "50+ clears" as a requirement in the post on LFG. Next the Host Booted multiple people until finally they gave in with 1 newbie. No idea why I wasn't booted myself..

Just because someone doesn't have 50+ clears doesn't mean they don't know how to play destiny or suck.. Hell I only have a handful of clears just due to time restraints and only getting to raid when it fits in my schedule.

Guy acts like a total tool the entire time. He complains how it would take forever at the start and he was even the one messing up/causing redos on gauntlet a few times. Besides that, what do you know we flew through the raid and the new guy held his own remarkably! We even 1 phased Calus in the end.

Point is hypes like this need to chill. He clearly had raided way more than everyone yet was bottom half of our team skill wise easily. In the end he ate his words, shut up, and the newbie got his first clear! With people looking to raid more in the coming weeks hope we see less hypes on the clears and more of a helping raid community!! Raiding is always a blast when I get the time and I hope to again if time permits soon!!

Masterworked Grenade Launchers and Rocket Launchers now generate orbs based on number of kills in a multi kill

Prestige Eater of Worlds is live!

  • Kinetic: Pulse
  • Energy: SMG
  • Heavy: Grenade Launcher

Modifier: Prestige: Arsenal - Weapons have no reserve ammo. Emptying the clip of a weapon refills the clips of your holstered weapons.

NOTE: That modifier description is ambiguous. The next weapon will reload. So you'll go Primary -> Secondary -> Heavy all the time, emptying your primary will never grant you heavy etc.

Since D2 dropped I have visited Amanda a grand total of two times. I counted. I mean Bungie right now could secretly remove her from the game and I would never notice until someone found out and posted here. So can she be not so useless and actually do something for me?

Giving Hand breaks Prestige Eater

Using giving hand (the mod on raid gauntlets) still gives you heavy ammo, even with the weird ammo modifier. This lets you have essentially unlimited heavy at all times if you so desire.

EDIT: Some people are wondering how this works if you can't reload, well, you can reload. The modifier just "prevents" you from having any ammo in reserve (Unless this giving hand perk is activating, which spawns in reserve ammo anyway).

Just watched Gigz get a 400 Sins, and he wasn't able to use it as fodder for his Curtain Call. The infusion limit is 380 according to the tooltip. Just wanted to spread this out. So unless this is changed before Forsaken, we're stuck at 385 unless you specifically use the new armor, and the Raid weapons.

Edit: Seems that the 400 gear can be infused into Exotic gear (no cap listed at least). This still limits us. :/

You can actually feel like you're moving higher and more forward. They tweaked the hell out of it, try it out! I put it on and now I can't take it off. It makes you feel so mobile and light.

People need to learn how to play Control if they want to do Iron Banner.

The last five games of IB I played began with my entire fireteam rushing to the point closest to us and standing there to cap it while the other team capped both their spawn and B. We then proceeded to lose the game because the opposing team has time to spread out and fortify, and we can never break through their line and we get mercy ruled within 2 minutes.

Stacking people on a point has no effect after there are 3 people on a point. That's as fast as it gets. So there are 2 people literally standing on that point doing nothing.

Standard opening should be: 2 run to cap the spawn while the other 4 go to cap B. That way one can die in the ensuing firefight and you still have 3 to cap as fast as possible.

It's not fucking rocket science, people.

Bungie, can we get a bit more information on the Annual Pass?

I'm still holding back from pre-ordering Forsaken or the Annual Pass, not out of spite or bitterness but just because I want to know a bit more about the annual pass. I get that it's promoted as a consistent supply of content all throughout 2019 but to what extent? Like I really want to know more before I can make a complete decision on whether to buy it or not. Hopefully Bungie decide to sell it separately sooner or later.

Forsaken is really close, so i thought it was time to see what we did so far. i made a video of all Speedkills of the Raid Bosses in Destiny 2, Enjoy.

Strat:

  • For this kill we will only get 1 flower (12 stacks) For the first spawns it is always going to be L1 or R1.
  • We alert the dogs as fast as possible and run to our designated dogs.

Damage Phase:

  1. Shoot the dog with the Tractor Cannon (this will buff all void damage with 50% for 10 seconds)
  2. Throw a Scatter grenade underneath the dog. this will do a massive amount of damage.
  3. Throw your nova bomb.
  4. Throw another Scatter grenade (You get your grenade back after using your super, this is because the mod on your raid helmet)
  5. Your dog dies.

For the Calus fight we have 2 players in the throne room and 4 players in void. the reason for this is the lower the amount of players in the throne room the more skulls will spawn.

Damage Phase:

  1. When you come back into throne room everyone needs to gather around the sun plate or the cup plate.
  2. Hunters will activate their supers.
  3. Melee a dog when you are still in your super. (this will give you a 20% overall damage buff because of the mod on your raid gauntlets)
  4. Now everybody will jump on the damage plate.
  5. The Warlock will use his empowering rift.
  6. Someone will do a countdown from 3 and everybody will hit him with their supers at the same time.
  7. Everybody shoots their rockets.
  8. Calus dies

Argos

Setup

Strat:

  1. Plant correct craniums for the shield break, then if there's not 3
  2. the damage side make sure that is done.
  3. The 3 players that are breaking his shield should grab their respective craniums and go hide somewhere for the time being.
  4. The other players not using craniums kite ads and get ready to get the raid mod buffs.
  5. We break his shield at the same time Argos starts his "Void Reading Spike" this makes it so we get the damage buff & the platforms still spawn.
  6. For damage, the 3 cranium people melee an enemy for the striking hand buff, while the other 3 melee and enemy as well as shotgun a yellow bar minotaur for both raid buffs.
  7. The warlocks place their rifts for instant reload on our shotguns, first titan melting points Argos and hits him with tractor cannon, after all players are out of shotgun ammo, everyone gathers more ammo, the second titan goes in for another melting point and he dies!

Companion Apps Down for 4 hours after update

Just an FYI for anyone planning to run thr prestige raid lair at 11am PST. Both Bungie and all 3rd party apps that use the API will be down from 10am to 2pm PST.

Male sure you have your kinetic pulses and a weapon of each special and power ammo type ready to go!
