[Noob Question] Is the way the AI settle cities the best way to play?

Posted: 08 Jul 2018 04:25 AM PDT

I wouldn't exactly say I'm new to Civ V, I have just over 100 hours (though I know that is very new to you guys) which is only a handful of games. The highest difficulty I've tried so far is King and on this difficulty I've noticed that the AI tend to build lots of cities very close together (like, within 2 or 3 tiles of each other). I usually have my cities relatively far apart so they can all grow to their maximum size and only have a handful, maybe 5 by the Modern Age.

Basically my question is this: Is the way the AI plays, that is having 20 cities all within 3 tiles of each other spanning an entire continent, a good way to play and is it a method I should look at trying?

Thanks for your help.

What's your agenda?

Posted: 08 Jul 2018 05:05 PM PDT

Was just wondering if anyone else has ways of playing that could be relatively well simplified into existing agendas (or agendas that could be feasibly implemented) combined with that bit of Donna Noble human common sense that means we don't send great merchants into battle.

I'm basically a combination of Pericles and Moctezuma - I want all the city states but I am tolerant of you having some, as long as they are rubbish and not near me. I also want all the luxuries. Like, all of them.

How does the ''Redshell'' spyware work with GDPR? How can I remove my consent to their EULA?

Posted: 08 Jul 2018 08:39 AM PDT

Started playing CIV 6 again after a break, and it seems like everyone is upset about the game containing the spyware ''Redshell''. I've heard about people disagreeing to the EULA, and still being able to play the game. Should I do this? And if I should - how?

Recently deleted posts on r/civ?

Posted: 08 Jul 2018 08:14 AM PDT

I've noticed that sometimes even really popular posts here on r/civ are deleted, such as the look sideways meme with Gandhi and nuclear weapons and then yesterday with Hulk as Gilgamesh and Thor as a city states with a gif from a battle scene in Thor Ragnarok. I thought those posts were funny, but does anyone know why they were deleted? u/Bragior

Best laptop for civ 5? (Read text)

Posted: 08 Jul 2018 07:12 PM PDT

OK, so I want to be able to play Civ 5 in class without the fan going supper loud, is there any computer that can handle civ 5 without sounding like it is going to explode? If, so, can you link it? I don't care if I have to play on the lowest settings, I just want to grind during lectures.

Let us disable real life continent names..

Posted: 08 Jul 2018 06:29 PM PDT

I don't like that when I discover a new continent it's 'North America' or 'Australia'. And this is something I've just recently noticed. Having the continents have their own names made them feel distinct and cool. It just doesn't feel the same when my Norwegian empire is in 'Africa', when Africa is a snowy tundra.

Is there any Civ 6 groups that play on standard speed?

Posted: 08 Jul 2018 08:20 AM PDT

As a player with 1000+ hours on Civ 6 I've tried many settings for my games. Ultimately i have come to the point where I can only play the game on standard speed. Online speed just changes the game's dynamics too much in my opinion. And anything slower than standard is just TOO slow.

Is there any leagues or groups out there play Civ 6 multiplayer on standard speed?
