Should I euthanize my colonist? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 07:27 PM PDT In short, I have this 84 year old woman. Her name is Laura 'Moo' Bond. She's a frail old lady who is a pacifist, won't do construction, farm, or much else besides build and cook. But she has dementia. Now, as much as I'd like to take care of a vegetable, I have shit to do. Should I just euthanize her and bury her, as a show of good will? Or should I rip out her kidney, her lung, and her heart, and turn her into kibble and hats? I would like your guys' (completely heartless and psychopathic) view on this issue. EDIT/UPDATE: Well, the decision was made for me. She uh...got mauled by a bear. So this discussion has moved onto should I bury her, cremate her, or skin and kibble her? [link] [comments] |
Prisoners should do different breakouts or different things based on skills/relationships Posted: 10 Jun 2018 04:13 PM PDT Imagine if a very intelligent prisoner staged a more elaborate breakout, like picking a lock, or finding some way to sabotage something electronic from a distance. A brawler would knock a colonist out when the door opens and make a break for it. Or someone who is a brother or enemy of one of your colonists reacts differently depending on the relationship, maybe instead of needing a warden you send a sibling in and get the prisoner significantly easier. While an enemy would be angrier and cause more issues. Prisoner with really good social skills could outwit the warden and convince him to let him go or something. I'm not creative for specifics, but this idea just occurred to me. [link] [comments] |
The greatest thing about this sub Posted: 10 Jun 2018 05:22 AM PDT So I get that the whole point of this game is story making, but you guys, I didn't realize just how amazing it is. The stories written on this sub from the POV of one of the pawns are my favorite, some have even brought me to tears. Then there's the comics which are as funny as they are truly telling of the actual game. All the posts cursing Cassandra, Randy, and Phoebe because of their ruthlessness and then the other half praising them for their generosity, and of course the ones questioning why the hell [insert crazy/weird thing here] happened. The community on here is just so welcoming and wholesome, I truly enjoy this game and this sub, Tynan truly made an amazing game with an even better community. Good luck on the Rim my friends. TL;DR: This sub is amazing [link] [comments] |

Just realized I have a prisoner with level 18 intellect... Posted: 10 Jun 2018 09:28 AM PDT Captured her from a raid. She was the only survivor, and I had to chase her down and shiv her to capture. Didn't even realize my luck... but recruitment is only a 1% chance with my best guy. Any way to increase the rate? My research guy will be level 18 before recruitment, at this rate... Posted: 10 Jun 2018 10:07 PM PDT I'm fairly new to the game and i can;t figure this out at all. Tried searching to no avail. I want to take mortars with me to assault outposts. I can get them there on my pack animals but cannot figure out how to install them and actually use them. I can have my pack animals drop them but after that I'm lost. Please help [link] [comments] |

Mod that makes the rimworld a totally alien planet? Posted: 11 Jun 2018 01:38 AM PDT I mean like with no human factions but factions made entirely of different aliens with no other humans on the planet [link] [comments] |

How do you handle your animal farms? Posted: 11 Jun 2018 12:32 AM PDT My most current game I'm keeping Alpacas, Muffalo, and Turkeys (I know turkeys aren't the best but wanted to experiment.) The best/easiest system I've come up with is to just allow them to breed and reproduce naturally and not try to put effort into separating males and females. To counter overpopulation at the start of every winter cull each herd and the flock down to 10 animals, around 3-4 males and 6-7 females. Killing off the oldest and keeping the youngest. (Tho i have run into an issue where 5-6 muffle/alpacas have all been born about 5 days from winter, so i sometimes don't include the brand new young in the count because then half the herd become juveniles not producing wool/milk.) I've almost totally forgone zoning for my animals. In spring/summer/fall they are out into "Roam" which opens up the entire map to them excluding the main part of my base. In the winter I have a smaller zone that keeps them closer to the barn with hay, and relatively away from predators. And finally I have one small "Raid" zone that it in the center courtyard of my base that all the animals can fall into if a raid truly threatens them. Thats the way I do it, I'm curious how the rest of you do. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 10 Jun 2018 01:06 PM PDT Grasshopper, the new recruit, was sleeping when the man from research corps that she had never met walked in, seemingly excited. "What are you doing here?! Get out!" "Come with me, I have to show you something" "I said fuck off, I'm sleeping!" "No, you HAVE to see this" "See what?" "Just come with me!" "Ugh… FINE! But if it's not worth it I'm telling Pinkie" "Follow me" It was dark outside, as they walked out of the base and into the trenches "So… I heard you had a big project going on… something about an obelisk..." "Oh, that.", the scientist responded quickly, "it's just another defense project. The biggest one yet though, can't get into details, so let me just say that we couldn't really find a test subject … the problem has been solved up in the ranks though." "What do you mean?" "I'll tell you about it some day. For now... hehe… CLASSIFIED" The soil in the no man's land was ravaged and toxic, as they walked on it, tripping on occasional shell craters. "Right… we're here! Now, I should probably tell you what this is about. I've been working on a new siren system, I'm going to turn it on back at the base and you– listen and tell me if you can hear anything from here once I'm back" "Make it quick!" "I'll do my best!" He disappeared into the shadows for a couple of minutes. Grasshopper waited. Sure, she was a new recruit and everything, but eventually she would need to make people quit treating her like trash. Suddenly, she heard a zapping sound coming from the trenches, then, the 10 meter tall statue that was emitting it. It started glowing red. Before Grasshopper had realized what was happening, she saw a blinding red light as her skin and eyes melted away in the beams of the Obelisk. The scientist looked at the deformed body. It looked as expected. He took out a notepad and ticked the last point: "gather weapons data" [link] [comments] |

Man eating pet rocks, really Randy? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 07:24 AM PDT I love Randy already, I really needed a laugh this morning and he gave me two. First, I got this gem: Fair enough, still funny as heck though. But then, about the time I stopped chuckling about dinner delivering itself, this popped up: https://i.redd.it/s4urke2sn6311.png And I lost it. . . Thank you Randy for a much needed laugh XD. Getting into RimWorld and I feel like I need a begginers guide , any suggestions? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 08:17 AM PDT Yeah , basically i want the best begginers guide that can help me understand the game mechanics well. [link] [comments] |
Faction unable to raid me as intended? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 10:45 PM PDT It appears that the Commandos from Glitter Tech are unable to raid me, and I'm not quite able to figure out why. Each time I try to spawn them in, I get the following in the devlog: And modlist: Anyone have any clue what I've done wrong? I'm assuming it's a mod order issue, as opposed to a conflict, as I honestly just only reordered a few mods I knew needed it. I'm inexperienced with load orders for this game, really. I just wish I hadn't gotten very far into a save before discovering this, 'cause I'm feeling like there's no way to salvage it if I want to fix the issue. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jun 2018 10:23 PM PDT (NOTE: Sorry if this sounds self-promoting or rather idiotic. I just wanted some input on this thought) I'm thinking of making it the main game I stream but I wanted to add some interactivity to it. Like a custom scenario where the pawns are from a crash colony ship and i make a twitter or a blog giving their own stories. I would update the blog/Twitter every two weeks and rotate who gives a story. Has anyone in the community ever done this? [link] [comments] |
