Cheating/Hacking is Rampant on PC, here are some solutions to minimize it.

Posted: 10 Jun 2018 10:13 AM PDT

Cheating has become RAMPANT in ranked on PC, long term this will destroy the game. I and other content creators constantly post about this, I'm hoping that by posting it on Reddit the issue may reach more people. I have a number of friends who just left to go play other games because it is so bad rn. I am not just here to complain about it, I have some suggestions to help with the problem. You can never completely eliminate cheating, but you can minimize it greatly. To be clear I do not have a background in computer programming, or law, so please let me know if some of this isn't possible.

Essential:

  1. First and foremost is the problem of boosting, cheaters are being paid to boost people to higher ranks. Remove the games with cheaters in them from all participants once someone from the game is banned, and all their previous games for the season. This means all elo, w/l, k/d, stats, etc are all erased from any game a cheater was in for that season. 95% of the problem ends here.

  2. Forced email authentication when logging into a new computer with uplay. Contrary to what some may think cheating is not even earning Ubisoft money, the people that cheat buy stolen accounts for pennies. They then cheat on them until they are banned, and go to the next stolen account. This then causes an innocent person to be banned, and lose their account. This will also cut down on support tickets for stolen accounts, because the person will need access to email and password. Optional if this does not work, you can force 2 factor authentication (google, phone number, etc). I think email would probably be sufficient, but this is a last resort option. The reason I list this as optional is because it is great in theory, but will possibly deter some people from playing. I do not think it will be necessary if the other parts of the list are used.

  3. Hardware bans, battleye to my knowledge is capable of hardware bans. Using this feature will deter a good number of cheaters. Banning motherboard, cpu, gpu is very costly to replace, and another step if they decide to spoof it.

  4. Taking legal action against boosting services, cheating services, dmca take down of video and websites. This has worked extremely well for other companies such as epic games, and blizzard. Removing public resources will greatly discourage cheating, and filing for damages against cheat creators will discourage future people.

  5. Removing the public battleye/FairFight, toxicity messages, these are often used to advertise cheating resources for almost no cost. They are also annoying and you have to be present online to know the person got banned. Make them accessible on a public website.

  6. Express support for people live streaming, in my case I have anywhere between 3,000-5,000 peak viewers concurrently watching me. Imagine how many lost sales that is, many people go to twitch to checkout a game before buying it. Cheaters attempt to queue snipe people streaming to make the game look bad/troll. Ban them live on stream it will give tons of good will to those watching. It is very easy to have a support rep pop into the stream watch the people cheat live, and ban them live. They are generally on twitter already for the @ubisoftsupport account. This game is not like a br game where its done after running into someone cheating. You have to actually have those people sit and watch 20-30 mins of blatant cheating, and cannot leave.

Thank you for taking the time to read this long list. If you have other suggestions or changes, please leave them below. I am open, and welcome any discussion on the topic.

PC - Ubisoft needs to start banning players who pay for a Boost service.

Posted: 10 Jun 2018 09:52 AM PDT

Hello, I've done a 24h stream marathon on the second day of Parabellum and had to deal with 4 games against cheaters and boosters, just found one more game (and won) against cheaters right now. This is out of around 50 ranked games.

I feel that the whole "cheaters issue" has gotten too big the past 2 seasons and Ubisoft needs to somehow step up with the bans and tools available to the players. Banning hackers themselves at this point is not enough as they probably can afford an account for very few euros/dollars whatever and still profit tons of money from their boosting service.

Again, these cheaters are not playing for themselves but their accounts serve a different purpose, which is boosting paying customers to Diamond by entering games with them. Now I've started sending support tickets to the Ubisoft Support with the names and VODs of said games and cheaters and their teammates.

Ubisoft. Will you acknowledge the practice of boosting and start banning people who plays with these guys? You could probably gather proof by watching whether or not all players in team with the cheater booster are in team with him or were solo queueing to avoid bans to innocent people.

My 2 cents. A concerned diamond player since release who has seen the rise and fall of cheaters with Fairfight then Battleye, and now lately the explosion of Boosters.

Sorry for the lenghty post.

TL-DR: Cheaters nowadays are mostly boosters who pay very little for an account and get tons of money in return for boosting paid customers. To fix this rising trend, Ubisoft needs to start banning players who get boosted so that they won't be incentivized in paying for such a service.

Season Pass Exclusives, what's going on?

Posted: 10 Jun 2018 04:42 AM PDT

EDIT: Sorry, I realize I've messed up with the Echo/Hibana gears and that they aren't the exclusive sets! The original point still remains though <3

Before I start, I suggest taking a quick peak at this album so you have an idea of what I'm getting at.

This isn't me purely complaining about the state of the game or anything as such, I have nothing but respect for Ubisoft and the effort that they're putting into the game to keep it up to date, fresh, enjoyable and not letting it die out with a lack of content or less than ethical business practices. This is just a small observation. Despite small bumps and complications in the games life, I've had the Season Pass annually because it truly is one of the best games in modern times, and this is the only problem I have with the pass. I'm gonna put it out there that I, like many other people out there, love looking good in games. It doesn't get in my way of playing if I'm not, but customization is always a great addition to games. A small part of the season pass that has always gripped me are the exclusion uniforms or headgears you get for the new CTU operators, ever since the implementation of uniforms and more specifically Year One, Season Four.

The uniforms were unique, looked exceptional, and even included a little peak into the operators place of origin or just something to with the operator themselves. Nowadays, the "exclusives" have lost their charm and don't feel special anymore. Plenty of times I've opted to stick with the default skin over the season pass one just because of how awful they look. I understand why they can't put a huge amount of time into making a completely new headgear for an operator with the addition of having to make elite skins, maps, bundles and all the other things a new season brings, but for the people who spend a fair amount of money each year on the season passes, continuing to support the game each year, can't we get a little special something? I'm not gonna lie, I'm not a fan of basic re-skins with a less than pleasant camo (Looking at you Ying and Lesion). Hibana and Capitao's exclusives set a good standard for what a Season Pass headgear or uniform should consist of, and ever since it's gone downhill. Again, I recommend looking at the album I linked above for a very basic overview of what I mean, quickly threw together so I can show some of the best and worst ones.

I don't expect absolutely insane new headgears or uniforms. I expect something that's just slightly different from what we usually get. I don't expect this game to have the level of character backstory that some games do, but I do want the operators to feel less like a class and more like an actual person that has had things happen to them. In a highly competitive FPS this is pretty rare, and I'm not asking for a full book entailing the life and tales of Maestro's mischief, just little hints at what they once were or something to do with their country or origin.

Yeah, that's it. I love this game with all of my heart and Operation Para Bellum is an absolute blessing that has reignited my passion for it.

But lemme look good while I'm doing what I'm doing. :)

Disable cycling to next camera type when reaching end of current type

Posted: 10 Jun 2018 06:05 AM PDT

I really like the new camera interface, however one thing that I would like to see added is the option to disable cycling to the next camera type when you reach the end of the current type. Meaning, when you hit "E" on the last camera in the current set, it moves to the next set. I would prefer to to have the option to have it go back to the first camera in the current set instead.

Thank!
