Why is no-one talking about this completely ridiculous mission?

Posted: 26 Jun 2018 05:27 AM PDT

The one I'm talking about is the 5th quest in the 1st "Normal" Mission chain. The mission is worth 320xp and it requires you to:

  • Play at least 3 games on Miramar where you met all of the following requirements
    • Survived for at least 20 minutes
    • Dealt at least 200 damage to enemies
    • Took no damage from the bluezone
    • Looted at least 2 crates
    • Revived at least 2 teammates
    • Killed at least 3 players
    • Reached top 10
    • Took less than 100 damage
    • Didn't use any first aid kits

Theres just way too much stuff in there, that has to be completed all in 1 match, to get 1/3rd of the mission, its absolutely ridiculous! Lets do a bit of examining and figure out how possible it is.

  • Survived for at least 20 minutes

This one is easy in Solo, Duo and Squads. Basically just do well, shouldn't be hard to anyone.

  • Dealt at least 200 damage to enemies

Thats basically 2 full kills, not really that hard either. If you survived for 20 minutes, you're almost bound to have dealt with at least 2 or more enemies on the way.

  • Took no damage from the bluezone

This might prove dificult for some scenarios, for example if you land in a bad spot and don't get any loot/dont find a car, it might just outright fail you this challenge. To remedy this, you'd want to drop semi-center of the map or go to a place you KNOW will have cars. Some might also take a tick or two from the very end-game bluezones just by accidentally walking to them or not noticing the zone started moving. I'd say this is overall a medium difficult challenge that somewhat limits your options on drop areas and how fast you have to progress, nothing too serious combined with the other 2 missions we've covered.

  • Looted at least 2 crates

This is a bit of a risk. You'd either have to go hunt some very "out of left field" crates that others might not go for, risking taking blue zone damage if the crate dropped close to the zone/its in a hard to get-spot, or you'd have to go for the highly challenged ones that might get you killed. Another possibility that popped to my mind is that looting empty/partial crates could very possibly count as "looting a crate", maybe if you even take 1 item from it or even have it in your loot area could very possibly coun't. depending on if the last point is true or not, and depending on the skill level of the player, this challenge goes from Easy to Hard combined with the last 3 parts we covered.

  • Revived at least 2 teammates

Alright this throws Solo games out of the window, making things harder for many people. Some might not have friends to play with, that makes this part of the mission outright Hard. Reviving 2 teammates isn't too hard though, since friendly fire knocks count toward these missions. Still a very possible match combined with the previous parts.

  • Killed at least 3 players.

This coincides with the deal at least 200 damage to enemies, you just have to kill them from a knocked state rather than just dealing general damage. With proper communication, this is fairly easy to co-ordinate with teammate(s) so everyone gets their share of confirmed kills. Still very doable including all previous parts

  • Reached the Top 10

This puts a dampener on things. Even if you do all of the things previously listed, but fail to get into the top 10, ya dun goofed. that said, getting to the top 10 usually means you've probably done all the previous points, like 80% of the time at least. Makes the whole challenge a little bit harder, but not too much.

  • Took less than 100 damage

WHAT.

This basically means "don't get knocked down". You also shouldn't heal, since if you heal, you can take over 100 damage without you noticing, and fail the whole mission. Having to loot 2 crates also makes this part extremely hard, since they're very often highly contested. This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Combined with all of the previous points, this makes things INSANELY HARD. the only method I can think of getting this done is begin carried by a squad, downing 1 player VERY CAREFULLY, then getting the other 2 kills by coordinating with others to shoot knocked players, looting 2 crates without dying somehow, reviving 2 teammates either after a shootout or from friendly fire knocks, then making it to top 10 (not that difficult in squads TBF). This is the part that makes this particular mission absolutely ridiculous.

  • Didn't use any first aid kits

Why use a first aid kit when you can't even take the damage you gain from it. the previous point makes this one moot. No point in healing if you can't then take that damage without failing the mission.

Conclusion:

Remove or rework the "Took less than 100 damage" part of the mission, otherwise it's PERFECTLY reasonable. Even not using First aids, very possible. Loading up on Bandages and boosters is not that hard, only makes in-fight healing a lot less possible, but that still doesn't make the challenge overly difficult. for now, this is only really doable to 1, MAYBE 2 squadmembers per match, if EVERYTHING goes according to plan and there are no surprise ambushes or ganks. I know this is a Normal mission, which gives us a whole month to do it, but that still doesnt justify the take less than 100 damage part. Most people will NEVER get this done, unless something is changed. Even reworking it to "don't get knocked" would make it SO much easier, since you could actually heal. Now, if you get knocked, well, thats your chance. That also means that you can't get in for all members in a Squad in 1 game, since you need to revive a teammate, which means someone has to get knocked, which means they need to take 100 damage, automatically failing this mission. it's just ridiculous.

Thoughts?

Can you please fix red dot's bugs ?

Posted: 26 Jun 2018 02:20 AM PDT

- Fix the bug where we switch a red dot to a 4x then to red dot again and it goes default

- put the option to choose type of red dot that we want on settings so we don't have to change it every game session.

It can't be that hard ...

8-Man squads + flare guns should comeback

Posted: 26 Jun 2018 08:45 AM PDT

Once the Sanhok hype dies down I really want to see this mode comeback. It was really fun to look for flair guns and getting excited when you found it, criticize the teammate who botched the flare gun shot and wasted it. Getting into bigger gunfights thanks to the 8-man squads and just being able to play with more friends.

The Event Pass is frustrating

Posted: 25 Jun 2018 08:23 PM PDT

I like the game quite a bit. I was happy to buy the Event Pass. Having the objectives to work towards is really neat.

I have a job. Setting aside 2 hours at night is a lot for me. It's extremely frustrating the way the xp and mission system works, especially in regards to duo/squad. You are a team, you playing a team game, most people think the game is more fun with friends. It's a far more enjoyable game to me with friends. But when I play with my friends, it's frustrating to have all start over because someone died, or have people not getting credit for their playtime because they are dead.

You are a team, you should count as a team. If your team is alive you should get credit for playing. You shouldn't have to feel like an asshole for playing because now your friend is getting even less since he's dead, especially when he died at 4 minutes 59 seconds and gets literally 0 credit for anything he did in the game.

Counterpoint on when you should swap your vest (Armor Guide)

Posted: 26 Jun 2018 05:41 AM PDT

So a previous post on this sub outlined when you should be swapping armor. First of all it was made with the assumption that your current armor was at full durability. That was why I started looking into calculating then you should swap a damaged armor with a different level damaged armor. During that process I found that the recommendations did not match my own data.

My approach was different in the way that I looked at how much damage reduction was left based on the durability and damage reduction coefficient. This lead me to a different result and also provided some general rules on when to up- or downgrade your armor based on any durability of your current armor and not only at full durability. Basically it is just dividing the damage reduction coefficients to get a percentage you need to multiply your durability with to get the cutoff value.

Below is a table with the data needed to make your calculations. As most of us will only upgrade and not downgrade an easy rule of thumb is going up one level the new armor should have 3/4ths of the current durability and going up two levels from 1 to 3 the level 3 vest should have at least half the durability of the level 1 vest. I've added the cutoff points for when the lower level vest is at full durability.

When it comes to downgrading the coefficients are harder to make an easy to remember rule. If we are not worried to much about being right on the money but still want to be on the safe side reversing the above rule of thumb can be used. For a 3 to 1 downgrade double the durability is needed and for a one level downgrade (2 to 1 and 3 to 2) 1½ times the current durability is needed. If you want more accurate but harder to remember rules, go ahead and use them.

From \ To Level 1 Level 2 Level 3
Level 1 - 75% (150 durability) 55% (109 durability)
Level 2 133% (150 durability) - 73% (160 durability)
Level 3 183% (109 durability) 138% (160 durability) -

The upgrade and downgrade points are the same going both ways at full durability of the lower level vest. For instance if you have a level 1 vest at 200 durability you should swap for a level 2 if the level 2 has at least 150 durability. The reverse is also true: If you have a level 2 vest with less than 150 durability you should swap to a full durability level 1 vest.

The swap point for level 1 to level 3 is 109 and for level 2 to 3 it is 160.

To finish this off I would like to touch on the edge cases of the durability being lower than the expected bullet damage. If a bullet does 40 damage it doesn't provide any benefits having a level 1 vest with 40 durability than a level 2 vest with 1 durability. The level 2 vest is better in this case and the rules above does not apply. Not knowing if the next bullet to hit you does 30 or 90 damage does make it difficult to known when to apply these rules when the durability is below a certain mark. My advice is to make your own judgement based on the types of weapons you are most likely to be facing. The more damage per bullet the higher I would set the baseline for always upgrading my armor regardless of durability coefficient. This is the same principle as with helmets where a 1 durability level 3 helmet is better than a full level 1 helmet. This is also due to the damage multiplier for headshots which is not an issue when it comes to shots to the torso as the maximum damage multiplier is only 1.1 or 110%.

[Opinion] I love the pass, didn't realize how much I wanted some kind of goals to increase my fun with the game.

Posted: 26 Jun 2018 06:20 AM PDT

Title pretty much, I'm level 9 at the moment, played a bunch during the weekend... and I find myself constantly looking at mission objectives and having a lot of fun trying to complete them.

Doing 4km in a car in Sanhok gave me a crazy game of driving around the island on a bike only to loot 2 crates in the process and to give me a crazy top 10 situation.

I wanted the cat eyes glasses so bad that getting that 9k solo win was just way more satisfying than a normal win. Now I can wear glasses that says I won a solo. How cool is that?

Been going back to the M4 after I got the skin for it. Tropical skin looks pretty dope.

I'm honestly having a lot of fun with this pass, it gives a new life to the game for me and so far I don't regret buying it.

Battlepass Missions on Miramar

Posted: 25 Jun 2018 11:24 PM PDT

If you're going to put battlepass missions specifically on Miramar you're now forcing people to leave queues for your 2x map option. I think it should always be erangel/miramar or make a mission for each instead of one.
