| This one tip could double your mmr Posted: 10 Jun 2018 08:54 AM PDT This is one of the BIGGEST differences between a low and a high mmr player, if not THE BIGGEST difference, and it is stupidly simple. What am i talking about? ALWAYS BE DOING SOMETHING USEFUL And by now most people have closed this post or pressed the downvote, but hear me out. while everyone in any bracket is always doing ''something'', but are they doing ''something useful''? something useful is anything that gives your team a networth advantage (or potential networth advantage like harassing/wards/smokes), simple as that, whatever brings gold is useful warding, ganking, smoking, last hitting, pushing waves, etc. Most of the time in lower ranks it doesn't matter what you're doing, as long as you're always doing it. So why do people always get 500-1000 mmr increase after doing my challenges? Simple, it removes downtime, aka the problem of low mmr, aka ''not doing something'' Downtime is a simple idea, it's the time between 2 useful actions so let's say i were to be farming like in my challenges to rack up advantage. Let's say we compare 2 players, a 6k and a 2k, give them both the same items/level/hero and they'll produce different amounts of gold This is simply because higher rank players ALWAYS WANT TO DO SOMETHING. while both have the same creep camp farming speed, the higher rank player would spend less time between the camps using whatever tricks he knows, like moving slightly after attacking, good farming patterns, tracking time and map etc. So if you were to take 5 camps every minute, and you had an avoidable downtime of 6 seconds between camps, that means every minute you'd literally be losing 30 seconds. Those 30 seconds could've been another 5 camps, meaning where a 2k player would get 500 gold, a 6k player would get 1000 gold. This is where the snowball effect comes in place - the earlier you have your items - the easier it will be to kill the opponents - the easier it is to win the game. So, how do you fix downtime? Super simple, just download your last matches and simply observe when you finish some action - how long does it take for you to be doing the next action. And do this for literally all your actions in the entire replay, this could take you 3 hours to analyse 1 replay, but the better you are at removing/preventing downtime; the higher your mmr is. So ask yourself 2 questions:
For example, someone is taking your tower and you're sitting behind it waiting for enemy to push or your teammates to come - this is not a useful action as it does not bring you networth advantage so a useful alternative would be going to the jungle to take some camps and calling your team - if your team arrives before the enemy takes the tower you can defend - if not you let the tower go and keep farming. The most useful alternative would've been realizing that you can't defend that tower at all and just went to farm the jungle 30 seconds earlier. The 2 biggest sources of downtime are waiting and walking, next up is inefficient actions, and last but not least getting killed or getting stuck somewhere you can't continue from. if you get stuck, you sometimes even might have to re-trace a whole 1-2 minutes back to see what lead you into getting stuck. I will guarantee you, if you were to take the next 10-20 hours to analyse your last 5 games instead of playing 10-20 more matches and just simply be pausing and constantly asking yourself those 2 question then your mmr will skyrocket. edit: Obviously, the highest mmr players don't just do action by action, instead we have a whole chain of actions, basically we plan out the entire next 30-60 seconds ahead of time - comparing all of the possible paths we can take then choosing the best. | All You Low MMR people, I want to sell you something Posted: 10 Jun 2018 01:21 PM PDT How many times have we felt "Oh man this game I could have won if only..." Or "feed mid" . Is your team hindering your potential? Do you truly belong to a higher MMR? Then why not cruise to a higher MMR in a Ferrari? Ladies and gentlemen I give youuuuu: BLOODSEEKER. A lone prey walks through the jungle. SUDDENLY the Hound of Flayed Twins , Strygwyr explodes out of the fog. Desperately the prey tries to tp away but it's too late. The Jackal has already ripped them to shreds. The preys herd have rushed to protect. Seeing the horrific scene they scatter in disarray. To their horror, the monstrosity is keeping pace with them casually. And they die , powerless to change their fate. Truly this one of the few heroes who actually goes on a rampage. To bloodseeker the whole game is a hunt, and he would even use his teammates for blood if the game allowed friendly fire. Now that you're suitably impressed, here are the specs: This hero eliminates interference from your team. If you cant last hit with 75 base damage you should just play support. Or learn some patience and stop auto attacking. You buy less regen, well with this hero you get a free 0 mana energy drink. Of course you have to last hit , but see above. You can stomp any lane. Any lane. Assuming you ARE as good as you said. Are you? Put it to the test then! In fact check the Dotabuff guides. Almost every game is a stomp. (If laning solo against 2 or 3, stupidity is not the best way to win, you won't be stomping that anytime soon, you're low MMR for a reason) You can pick him anywhere. Just jungle if the lanes are full. You can buy any item. Feel free to go glimmer force and medallion if you so fancy. Or MKB BKB Mjollnir. It's totally up to you. Which means YOU are responsible for your team's victory since you can placehold for anything. Best early game disable. Punishes anybody who can actually fight at that time. Like.... Sand King , Axe, Clinkz, PA, the list goes on ..... Does not fall off late game. That's because you never unlocked it in the first place that's just something for people with thousands more MMR than you to talk about. Basically a super fast super fun hero. He literally breaks his limiter at level 2. If the stars align he can run faster than BALL LIGHTNING. Imagine that. This hero does not give free MMR. Nature of bloodseeker ingame might differ from description shown. If you experience piles bleeding etc or even have blood, this hero might not be the right one for you. Each picked separately. Batteries not included. [link] [comments] |
Shotgun vs Right Click Mirana? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 05:33 PM PDT I love Mirana and she's my most played hero. I usually play her Support/Roam (i know i know but in the trenches anything can work) but lately been playing mostly Mid with her. Is there any advantage of going the Aghs + Blink build over the Maelstrom build that most pros seem to be going nowadays? Any situation where Magic Mirana is preferred? I really loved her Blink/Starstorm/Dagon/Eblade build and I still do run it occasionally against a team of Squishies (with a pretty good amount of success since I can usually win Mid with her in my bracket), but I feel like in most cases the right click build is superior in most situations and in my games it's mostly a win-more build. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
Enigma feels a lot stronger when not relied upon for initiation. Posted: 10 Jun 2018 11:51 AM PDT Whenever I play Enigma, I've noticed I always do much better when I'm not the one initiating fights, even if it means letting the enemy initiate first. This often pisses my team off, but we usually come out of the fight better than the enemy if I manage to pin multiple enemies in Midnight Pulse and Black Hole. [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jun 2018 06:53 PM PDT I see a bunch of my friends go from low legend > high crusader, so question to you is this a new MMR distribution or are they trash gamers? [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jun 2018 06:21 PM PDT This should probably concern all low-MMR players here who start playing Ranked, so I thought I make a post about it as a heads-up (and a question). I just recently started playing Ranked for the 1st time in trash-tier MMR (1k) and one thing that I learned after just the calibration games is: The amount of wrong information that your teammates will throw at you is mind-boggling. I like to think that I know a lot about the theoretical side of Dota (from watching a lot of high-MMR streamers, reading from the 5k and 6k players on this subreddit a lot and just generally picking up theory faster than I can put it into practice - one of my weaknesses). When you farm and they die because they all play Deathmatch Dota, you will be the one they will spam ping, flame and report. When you farm and they die because they dive an ulting enemy CK as a pos 5, you will be the one they will spam ping, flame and report. When you push the 3 lanes coming towards your towers and they die because they dive the enemy jungle to look for kills, you will be the one they will spam ping, flame and report. When you are the only survivor, you will be the one they will spam ping, flame and report. In other words, the only one who does the right thing (farming!), will always be the scapegoat. They will criticize your items, your playstyle, everything. I know I should just ignore it, but I can't. I instantly play worse when almost all teammates start flaming me. The absolute highlight today was a teammate thinking an opponent was a booster and just sitting in fountain crying. Just a quick glance at his Dotabuff and the replay from his POV immediately showed he was not. So my question is: Should I do it? Should I turn on the "Mute all incoming chat" option till I'm at a decent MMR? I'm really close to doing that, to be honest, eventho I always feel like I should at least give them a chance. Everytime. I also feel like muting everyone is like pretending you're better than your teammates. Maybe one day, there will be a good teammate who actually contributes something I didn't know yet and I'll have him muted. (My behavior score is "Normal". Yeah sure, Volvo.) [link] [comments]
How to deal with / avoid Kunkka X/Torrent/Boat combo? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 05:47 PM PDT Is there any way to avoid being hit by the X/Torrent/Boat combo? I keep dying to it and I feel like if they time it right I can't escape? Am I missing something? [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Jun 2018 04:59 PM PDT As a carry, how do you manage a lane when a lane mate, through attacking creeps, using abilities, or drawing creep aggro, regularly disturbs creep equilibrium to a great degree? I know when they are contesting last hits, the simple answer is to last hit better, but this tends to really push the lane. What do I do in this and other scenarios? How do I grow at managing a lane to make up for the mistakes my lane mates are making? How do I know when it's ok to mess with equilibrium to get kills? I feel like I've become very obsessed with equilibrium, and it's very negatively impacting my mood and performance. In essence how do you handle equilibrium with people in lane that don't even know (or care) what it is? Thanks in advance for any and all advice! Edit: Also, when do I tank creeps and when do I pull them under tower? [link] [comments]
Why does Outworld Devorer have such a low winrate throughout all the brackets ? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 01:10 PM PDT His Q is very good for last hitting (he seems like a midlane early bully to me), his kit is very straightforward although he seems to use a lot of "clickable" items, so what's wrong with him ? Doesn't scale hard enough in late game ? Too fragile without escapes ? [link] [comments]
Should you ever go vanguard on a ranged hero? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 09:57 AM PDT Saw a guide for razor that recommended vanguard, can't image why any ranged hero would ever spend gold on that item. [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jun 2018 03:27 PM PDT Last 2 games had extremely weak drafts with 4 or 5 heroes that are very vulnerable to ganking. Enemy team is full of gankers, invis and the like. Fairly simple question, because it feels like detection isn't enough, how do you withstand the crazy aggression and salvage a game like this? Because it feels to me as though, once they get an item, it's not possible to fight them properly and splitpushing is too dangerous. https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3945081429 Wyvern https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3945140646 WR [link] [comments]
Did anyone go 10-0 in calibration? Posted: 09 Jun 2018 08:53 PM PDT Did anyone get 10 wins in calibration, if so what was the MMR increase? Edit: I went W-W-W-L-W-W-L-W-L-L (6-4) on my main ang gained 50 MMR then went W-W-W-W-L-W-W-W-L-W (8-2) on my smurf and gained 200 MMR although those two loses were very strange. First of all I had people break items in my third game, but we won regardless, then I had a guy who broke his items fed and then abandoned in my forth game and we lost. My 9th game it was just clear that the game was unbalanced from start I had two 0 20 dudes and I don't think this game was winnable. [link] [comments]

Is there any reason why you would not choose Luna's spell talents? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 11:56 AM PDT +200 cast range vs attack speed. Chances are you're not going to get Aether Lens, so the cast range is much more valuable. You will be itemizing for attack speed anyway. +24 Lunar Blessing Damage or -4 Lucent Beam cooldown. Team damage is good, but not as good as reducing beam's cooldown to 2 seconds. The combination of 200 cast range and 2 second cooldown is really hard to deal with in my experience. +100 Lucent Beam Damage or +10 stats: This one is a little tricky IMO. A free ultimate orb is nice, but the lucent beam damage also massively increases the damage of your ult, so I'd say the beam damage is the better choice. [link] [comments]
Where can I find the skills that can be substituted with items? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 05:29 AM PDT Like QoP's Blink and Blink Dagger, Naix's Rage and BKB, Sniper's Take Aim and Dragonlance. Tried searching but I dont know what keywords to put [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jun 2018 04:21 AM PDT iam having problem i play with 4 of my friends they always picks whatever they want even if we have a counter in the other team and my friend how plays support wants to roam to other lanes inested of harrasing the eanmy or helping my lane how do i deal with that ?? [link] [comments]
Huge buffs to Huskar and Oracle. Posted: 10 Jun 2018 10:19 AM PDT That level 25 talent. Oh my god. Burning spears pure. I always thought that the level 25 talent on Huskar was garbage but this is just too awesome. Also I think now Oracle can counter even pl? Since he can't doppelganger out of roots, and not can he disjoint the root. [link] [comments]
[Replay Analysis Request] Could I win this game as Invoker ? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 10:09 AM PDT As an Invoker player in this game: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3944605120 Could I do something bettter that will lead me to win instead ? Especially mid game since I fell my power is falling off at mid game. If anyone has time to watch the replay and analyze it I would be very grateful. Thank you, [link] [comments]
How do i farm raidiance on spectre Posted: 10 Jun 2018 10:07 AM PDT Spectre it the textbook definition of "hypercarry"(borrowing a lol term and hypercarries in that game fight midgame and function like any other carry champion but are a pain to deal with but not instoppable like in Dota. On Dota, they afk farm for 30 min). With am and Spectre, it's easy to understand become see a always builds bf which has a better build path and Medusa has splitshot and just needs mom to keep her hp up. Raidiance is Medusa's farm item. The problem is it's build path is sacred relic and the recipe. No stats until then. Also she can't really fight all that well early. She needs a healer to keep her topped off like warlock or treeent and some engage like tusk, sb, or shadow shaman. The problem is in my mmr, trilane is non existent unless you are in a party and everyone else knows what they are doing. Even then I still see some spectres do good and get so beefy that they cant die. If they do at this point they just buy back and wipe the enemy team. I would play her myself if I knew how to farm fast on her but that's to problem. How do I get a raidiance fast. [link] [comments]
Why is the first pick in captain's mode strong? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 08:38 AM PDT If I remember correctly, each time Team Liquid picked first they won against VP a few hours ago. Why is that? Aren't you supposed to be on the losing side since you reveal your hero first? 🤔 [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jun 2018 06:59 AM PDT 1008 just before calibration. The record was 6-4 but I guess whatever. Anyway one should not depend on some magic thing to give the MMR. I will continue to maintain a high winrate and reach a good MMR. But I lost 4 stars on my medal. That was a bit weird. Nvm I never cared for it anyways. [link] [comments]
Help with keybinds! my thumb hurts. Posted: 10 Jun 2018 06:41 AM PDT So I think I need new keybinds. I use alt+(x) for my items, and I think it's run its course. I just got out of a 95 min game and my thumb hurts from having alt clicked for like half the game. I play a wide variety of heroes so I'd like the room to have micro hotkeys and items without messing around too much with my finger position between games. I do have a multi-button mouse and I've used it for items in the past, but I had issues where I slid the mouse slightly whenever I pressed the keys and my mouse accuracy suffered so I kind of want to avoid that. Does anyone have any recommendations? [link] [comments]
What are some carries that don't scale well into late game? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 02:14 AM PDT Heroes that actually don't do AA, but through the use of their abilities. Thoughts about kunkka? windranger? [link] [comments]
I need a quick analysis of this game. Posted: 10 Jun 2018 02:01 AM PDT So I finished my calibration games, and I lost 8 of them. I went from Archon to Guardian 5 and I am little bit pissed off, because that's 2 ranks down, over 600 MMR less. The thing is, I was so god damn unlucky with those games, because I feel like I didn't get the best of teams. I know that I am not a great player by any means, however I don't think I belong in 1.5k mmr. There is this one game in particular I had with Troll in which I though I did very good in my lane, but lost the game anyway. If someone can have a quick look into the game and tell me if I could have done anything better to help my team's chances, I would really appreciate it. The game is short, so it wont take much of your time. Thank you in advance. Match ID: 3942624310 [link] [comments]
