| Posted: 09 Jun 2018 07:39 PM PDT Ive only built raipier once on wk because someone told me to since I was fed. I did conemplate it a few times then I die and second guess it. In a recent game, I was playing Medusa who is probably one if the best raiper carriers and I didn't die once but before I could finish my build, the game ended and if it went longer, I would've built raiper. If it went even longer, I would get 6. I was against Zeus mid who was trash and stayed back because he was scared of my snake and I farmed good but only got 7 kills. There's always the fear that I'll throw. Last thing j want is to get caught 1v5 and die rguardless of how powerful I am and throw the match. The other raipers I had were drops like I haven't finished skadi and a teamfight happened and they dropped a raiper and I took it and murdered everything. I also had a 2 hr game where there were raipers everywhere on the map. Bloodseeker built 6 but died instany to blademail and we had them all mined off because techies (Satan was on our team) and I was playing of so it's like well shit. Anyways when do I build raiper so I don't throw the match. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 09 Jun 2018 07:15 PM PDT So I was testing out leshrac the other day when I noticed some BS in one of my games. So I tested by used the diabolical explosion(physical dmg) and ghost scepter(immune to physical DMG) and I used it on a blademailed axe and took dmg, when I died, it said I died to physical dmg. Is this how it's suppose to work or what [link] [comments] |

| Did anyone have 11 games to calibrate? Posted: 09 Jun 2018 07:37 PM PDT I played my 10 games and got my rank 2 days ago. I played today and it said I needed 1 more. I dropped 400MMR from that one game (I got disconnected for 2mins and they used it to take t2, t3 and nearly rax and it was only 30m into the game). Or is it just me that had 11 games? -Edit- Joined another and it still says I need calibration. WTF!?! -Edit2- False alarm but winning that game got me the typical +25mmr this feels like a rip off. | Posted: 09 Jun 2018 06:50 PM PDT So, my problem is this: I pick a hero (underlord/centaur/windranger/lc/phoenix etc), go offlane and then get completely zoned out. I mean, like, lvl 1 at 5:00 zoned out. There is usually ranged support with stun (or 2) standing between me and creepwave and I can't really trade because, well, he has stuns and often higher damage at early levels. And if I trade, at some point I either have to retreat (and get more untraded damage while running away) or stay and hope for the kill but usually their carry comes and finishes me. Also usually in few minutes that support just leaves lane and goes roaming and ganking other lanes while I stay in my lane lvl 1 vs enemy carry who is like lvl 4 and has upgraded boots at the very least. If I come anywhere near creeps I get stunned/slowed and die. If I hug tower I get no xp, no gold, and eventually die anyway once their double/triple lane gets enough farm and levels to dive tower. If I go jungle I get very little xp and gold and at cost of being low hp pretty far from safety. If I go other lanes I just sap xp from other team members and I usually have close to zero kill potential on anyone because I am still lvl 1 or 2 and other people are lvl 4-5 by that time. I know I could try to mess with lane equilibrium to make lane move under my tower where I can get xp and lasthits but to do that I need to approach enemy creeps and then I die, remember? And the worst thing is, when I try to watch pro game or highlevel pub to see what good offlaners do under such pressure, I see them just walking up to creeps and contesting enemy carry farm, and noone even cares to zone them or kill them like it happens in my games. How can I deal with that? [link] [comments] |
| Why is meta picking cores before supports? Posted: 09 Jun 2018 01:06 PM PDT I've been playing dota for a long time but I can't recall the last majors where pros would draft cores before supports as much as I've seen in the previous 3 majors. Is this because the cores have no counters or maybe a better support counter beats a core counter? Is this viable in different brackets? [link] [comments] |
| What's AM's power spike (When should I fight?) Posted: 09 Jun 2018 06:43 AM PDT Hey /r/learndota2, I've tried AM once again (just for fun, not trying to add him in my hero pool or something), and I had a pretty bad game: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3938209709 While my farming speed is kind of bad, our team had 4 cores and a bounty hunter support and they got overpowered by the enemy so I had a tight space to farm with. One of my big problems when playing as anti-mage is not knowing when to fight and when to splitpush. I feel that we lost because I started fighting too late, so the enemy's advantage grew bigger. Can someone help me? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
| Need help on expanding hero pool Posted: 09 Jun 2018 11:49 AM PDT Hi guys, I need help on expanding my hero pool. Lately, I've been spamming clinkz because my friend said that the hero is good at my low mmr (around 1.8k crusader 2) and I have around 40+ games with him with about 77% wr. However, it gets a bit stale playing the same hero over and over again but I dont't know any good heroes that can split-push and solo kill enemy heroes quite like clinkz. I like to play heroes that can take down towers fast and are able to split-push effectively because in my mmr, people just fight all the time, so I would just take objectives while my team and the enemy fight. I need some suggestions on heroes that can split-push well, with maybe some escape mechanisms, and can maybe take out enemy heroes quickly (think clinkz with orchid + nullifier). Thanks! dotabuff: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/207314064 opendota: https://www.opendota.com/players/207314064 I play on the SEA server btw if that helps. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 09 Jun 2018 04:27 PM PDT Absolutely any advice whatsoever will be very appreciated. The game made me feel bad and useless and sadly as a result I ended up being toxic in my next few games. I was Juggernaut. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 09 Jun 2018 04:20 PM PDT I've lost 5 calibration games in a row despite being against significantly worse opponents than myself (I was of course this wasn't the case before the rank reset, as I believe in the "you are where you belong" saying.) But well, I've lost 5 games in a row and idk what to do. I play when I'm in a good mood, I try my best to stop people from fighting and I'm trying to be as friendly as possible. Here's the last game I played: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3943005888 I was the Spectre. I had a pretty good laning phase.. got some kills, got most last hits and felt like the game was going well. Bloodseeker then decides to lose his mid lane and starts getting mad.. no problem, I keep farming and get a pretty average timed Radiance (I think?) We then end up losing because people decide to go outside our base to farm without vision, only to die 10 seconds later. How am I meant to win these games? I couldn't really get my team to push, so taking objectives didn't happen. Our supports didn't ward properly, so spirit breaker had free roam around the map, and Nyx was flaming for reasons such as "why didn't you go back into Luna's ult and 2 other players when you had 400 hp and 100 mana, Spectre? It was a 3v3!" Lost 5 games in a row now, and while I very rarely just blame my teammates, it seems like it really is their fault this time. The other 4 games were something like this instead.. in the game before this one, I decided to listen to my teammate and bought Desolator instead of Battle Fury on PA, which ended up with me getting no farm, thus losing us the game. (this one was my mistake, as I listened to someone who was clearly more awful than me) My very first game after the reset was the worst. Some idiot instantly called "safe farm no roll".. I lost the mid roll, which is fine. We also had a guy instantly pick techies, so we were stuck with a techies+monkey king lane. I decide to just go jungle as Enigma and support when I can, but we still end up losing for obvious reasons. What do I do? I'm taking breaks between games and I'm in a good mood when I open up the game. But these idiots I get on my team just throw the game and rage from the first minute. I know I'm going to lose my 10 games and drop to a way worse rank than I had before.. [link] [comments] |
| Currently Crusader 3 - braving recalibration tomorrow Posted: 09 Jun 2018 03:26 PM PDT Hey guys, I'm currently Crusader 3, and I've been stuck there for quite a while to be honest. I'm going to be streaming my recalibration matches tomorrow (https://www.twitch.tv/events/yQZk5GreSuCqZrajO0PySA) and I was wondering if I could get some help. I find the following really difficult and would appreciate any good guides that people know of to read/view ahead of tomorrow:
I'm actually really nervous about recalibration as I all my friends are much higher. Plus I've been playing so much turbo recently so I need to make sure I'm ready for full matches. All help appreciated! [link] [comments] |
| Can Versatility be a bad thing? (Need to Narrow Hero Pool) Posted: 09 Jun 2018 02:56 PM PDT EDIT: Wish I could make the title "Can having a big hero pool be a bad thing?". Original title sounds like I'm boasting. My bad. Hey guys. I haven't played dota in like 4 days because of a wrist problem and just wanted to think about who I should look forward to playing/who I should limit my hero pool to. I wouldn't call myself a very versatile player, but I pretty much know what every hero does + how to build them and I can random and not completely bomb (for the most part). I used to be a big rager who was like 800mmr and most of my introduction to Dota 2 was playing a lot of single draft and climbing out of low priority. This led me to be learning the game thru like a handful of heroes and it failed initially because I was overwhelmed with everything and stayed where I was at. However, I ended up finally climbing out and naturally enjoying playing many different heroes and gravitate to almost a different hero per match. I've been thinking about how I got to 2k and it came down to limiting my hero pool to a couple heroes (Clock, Omni, Axe), playing to my skill level's meta, and sticking to my favorite/best role (offlane). Also the idea of limiting your hero pool to climb is reiterated on this sub a lot and I don't know if that's how I want to play dota, but I feel like I've been stuck recently and am wondering if it might be a problem of mine, even though its probably my biggest strength. My goal is to get to 3k by the end of the year, which I feel is entirely possible because my peak mmr this year was 2500 and I climbed up from 800 & I've been doing well vs better players recently. I'm just curious if I can still become a better player without needing to spam heroes or if I should just suck it up and do it. When I did it the first time, it was enjoyable and I played much better and much more consistently, but I'd rather not do this. Here is my dotabuff for reference: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/81034040. I'd like some advice from someone who was once in a similar situation to me or just some general advice and insight. Thanks [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 09 Jun 2018 04:50 AM PDT Been climbing from 1.3 to 1.6K by playing carry almost exclusively (ty BSJ), prior to recalibration and then calibrated at 2K. Is there any advice as to how I should approach this bracket and if there's any heads up regarding what should I focus on in improving? Currently I have a problem with hero pool, transitioning from freezing to pushing the lane, and picking the correct fights to take [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 09 Jun 2018 10:17 AM PDT I'm a pretty new player, only about 35 games played so far, and im wondering where I should direct my focus when farming. I mostly play Sven and get morbid mask around 12 minutes so camps are easy to kill. Still, i'm not sure if I am wasting farm by focusing camps over creep waves. What give more gold later game? | Question about the apparent new 2-1-2 lane meta Posted: 09 Jun 2018 01:15 PM PDT I only loosely follow and occasionally play Dota, but I've started paying attention again in preparation for TI, and I've noticed lately in most games I've been seeing that the pos 4 is starting out in the offlane along with the offlaner, making it 2-1-2 to start. What exactly was the cause of this meta shift? And generally speaking, at what point during the laning phase, if ever, does the pos 4 leave the offlaner to solo the lane while they (the pos 4) go to roam and/or go to the safelane? I guess a secondary question is that under this new lane meta, does the 3 tend to be more greedy and the 2 less farming and more ganking focused than before, or is it the reverse, or could it still go either way depending on hero selection? P.S. I know that since this is the pro meta it isn't explicitly related to a noob learning dota 2 since what pros do isn't super relevant, but I'd say learning how to watch and appreciate pro games also falls under "learning dota 2" which is why I still ask here. | How would you run a night stalker pos 1 with your team? Posted: 09 Jun 2018 10:21 AM PDT So, my friends and I were struggling with our usual line ups (always had shitty laning phase for our safe lane) and then I just randomly pulled out a night stalker pos 1 because I wanted to come online earlier, our supports silencer and cm (we tri-laned it, but silencer and cm dying/getting rekt by furion a couple times), dusa mid, and Pango offlane vs their tiny/lion safe, sf mid, centaur and furion offlane Now I know ns usually isn't played like a 1 and our support picks aren't really the best with this lineup, but given this kind of draft, how should we have played our early/mid game? Should we have ran silencer top with pango? or cm? Not quite sure what we could have done in this game to have a better early/mid game due to our supports being immobile and squishy af. Eventually, I controlled the mid/late game as ns once i got my core items of MoM S&Y + BKB, but also wondering if u guys got any ideas of what other build I could have ran, perhaps in this particular game. I was also thinking of maybe running something like a radiance + solar crest + S&Y but not quite sure how that is yet, or an armlet radiance/s&y Also, with these 3 core line up, what kind of supports could have complimented it? I know it's a long post but just looking for some input for a random 1 If you're wondering, here is the open dota of the game https://www.opendota.com/matches/3941115415 EDIT: Not gonna lie, thought this post was longer while typing it [link] [comments] |
| How to highground against this team? Posted: 09 Jun 2018 01:16 AM PDT I just played a game as PL and it felt like we were doing well most of the game, we could take fights, etc. But it felt almost impossible to highground into their sniper, tinker, sky, omni, and WD. Every time we tried to highground push, we'd get stopped instantly. Rosh didn't feel like it helped because by the time I respawned my entire team was dead. I think my biggest mistake was not getting BKB soon enough, but it just seemed like I needed so many items and I couldn't decide which to get next. Maybe my Skadi should have just been a BKB? What could we have done differently to win this game? [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 09 Jun 2018 12:28 AM PDT Hi I am an average 2.5k player looking to improve my game and I would like some tips on how can you understand whether you are in enemy vision or not. I like playing initiating heroes like Axe and Cent and often I find that my initiation is expected or I misposition myself so that the enemy have a glimpse of where I am. Is there any way to notice that you are in vision? Also how can I better position myself for initiation without revealing myself on the map. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
