Posted: 28 Jun 2018 06:11 PM PDT Been replaying 3, and it's striking how horrific the setting is. Tiptoing through the metro, absolute silence. You step on a glass bottle, and that tinkle echoes down the tunnel. It feels as if you're the first in 200 years to touch that bottle. Your pip-boy light only extends so far - you're fumbling in the dark. There's cloudy gas and wrecked carriages. You're constantly aware that the DC ruins are a graveyard for millions of people. When a ghoul detects and screams at you, there's no sprinting away. You need VATS, to regain your composure. You need that 53% headshot, or else it's shredding your skin. You can find horror stories in 4 (as players like Oxhorn makes videos about). And I really enjoyed 4, over a thousand hours played, etc. But I think it's atmosphere lacked the nuclear horror; the packed Boston ruins downplayed the death; the slick combat and plentiful supplies lessened the vulnerability. 4 has deeper issues than the voiced protagonist. Posted: 29 Jun 2018 12:34 AM PDT Title says it all. It suddenly occured to me last night that House's normal dialogue wouldn't make any sense in that extremely specific scenario. So, naturally, I started a new game, rushed to the Strip, used a stolen Plasma Caster to blast my way past the Securitron guards and kill Benny, then went to meet House. Lo and behold: https://imgur.com/a/6N1z4RS [link] [comments] |
Fallout 5 will be singleplayer again [GAMESTAR] Posted: 29 Jun 2018 11:50 AM PDT So, apparently Todd Howard has said in an interview that Fallout 5 and Elder Scrolls 6 will not have the same multiplayer focus as F76. Good news, right? Source: GameStar The english video is here: https://www.gamestar.de/videos/fallout-76-englische-originalversion-des-interviews-mit-todd-howard,96660.html [link] [comments] |
Say what you want about the F4 dialogue system but being the Silver Shroud was pretty cool. Posted: 29 Jun 2018 10:14 AM PDT Especially when you were able to take down the Bloodworms or the Mechanist as the Shroud. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Jun 2018 07:41 AM PDT Walk over to his house Edward on the intercom will respond with "go away" Pass two easy speech checks And then you'll be able to walk in, there's also some unique dialouge from Edward and Jack once you enter the house, that you otherwise wouldn't have gotten. Posted: 29 Jun 2018 09:34 AM PDT As we all know, a big aspect of Fallout 76 will be unlocking secret missile codes and launching nukes across the map to create high level, irradiated "Raid Zones". Pete Hines and Lord Howard have already stressed the message that players in these designated regions will be given a warning when a nuke is on it's way and will give them time to escape the area. However it occurred to me how this feature could create an interesting gameplay mechanic, how players in these zones could survive the nuke's impact by hiding in the Pulowski Preservation Shelters, which have been common in Fo3 and Fo4. The Pulowski Preservation Shelters, as stated in the lore, were designed specifically to shelter civilians from the immediate blast of the nuclear bombs. Imagine, you get a notification that alerts you that you have less than 5 minutes to evacuate the area before a nuke drops. Panicked you have no choice but to run for your life to the nearest PP Shelter, scattered around each location. Imagine, waiting nervously from inside the shelter as you hear the pounding of the bombs and blast as they irradiate the area around you...leaving behind a Glowing Sea. Finally, you will have to take the first bold step to leave the safety of the shelter behind you as you venture into the hostile, strange new irradiated environment before you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jun 2018 07:19 PM PDT The post apocalyptic short story "A boy and his dog" is widely believed to be a major inspiration for the fallout universe. If you haven't read it you definitely should! [link] [comments] |
Fallout76 really only needs to do one thing right to make me happy. Posted: 29 Jun 2018 11:46 AM PDT You leave the vault. You find a locked safe that hasn't been opened since the war. What do you find? Not a fucking pipe pistol and some caps, please. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 01:19 PM PDT According to the Fallout Timeline on Fallout Wiki a nuclear weapon destroyed Tel Aviv in December 2053. There was a "Limited nuclear exchange" in January of the following year. This brief nuclear war prompted the legislation which led to "project safehouse", and the construction of all of the vaults. Which do you prefer, larger or smaller Fallout maps? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 10:09 AM PDT Assuming the same amount of total content of course. Do you prefer a larger map with things more spread out or a smaller more densely packed map like FO4? I personally prefer a very large map. It just seems more realistic that way, plus I kinda like wandering off and exploring a larger area. It just seems more immersive. In FO4 you could take like a 30 second walk away from diamond city and there would already be a raider camp. I just like more distance between the "good" and "bad" guys as well as factions. I'd like to hear what other people think though. [link] [comments] |
Fallout 4: GOTY feels like a different game to me Posted: 29 Jun 2018 02:48 PM PDT With the Steam summer sale going on, I decided to pick up FO4: GOTY edition. Before, I only used to play vanilla with mods on Xbox. But playing on PC, it feels like I'm playing this game for the very first time again. New controls, new graphics, new content, and new experiences! It just feels like a fresh new game to me once more! I'm really glad I picked it up! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Jun 2018 09:13 AM PDT Ah screw it!In 76 I will be a Regulator. Hopefully they have something Similar to the Lawbringer perk. I figure people will dress according to where they stand.(good,bad,neutral). If I see you roaming around the wastes in a duster I will figure you're a good, unless you are XxPussySlayerxX then I will treat you like Junders Plunkett. [link] [comments] |
Drinkin' Buddy is a great addition to any settlement. Posted: 29 Jun 2018 03:30 AM PDT Not only does he supply you with ice cold Gwinnett beers and ales (if you have the recipes), and chill any nuka cola you give him, he also has a decent variety of (bad) jokes. His delivery could be a little smoother but what can you expect from a portable distillery? [link] [comments] |
The 76 trailer playing in GameStop Posted: 29 Jun 2018 08:42 AM PDT I'm literally standing in GameStop right now and the 76 trailer just started playing and this dude screams THATS NOT FUCKING FALLOUT and stormed outta the store. Best thing I've seen all week. [link] [comments] |
Who do you side with in The Pitt? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 09:36 AM PDT Spoilers for The Pitt I guess? I could really sit here and argue both sides, but every single time I speak to Ashur I see his goal and his ambitions, and he truly seems like a good leader. I think he's a bit in over his head with his raider henchmen, but I think he himself is the right person to lead The Pitt. One main reason I find not to side with Wernher is that he's just in it for the power. If you take out Ashur and put Wernher in charge, absolutely nothing changes, the slaves are still slaves, but now with a scumbag, who tried to usurp his lord, in charge. I do wish there wasn't any karma tied to this quest, because I love it so much :D [link] [comments] |
Player Hosted Radio Stations in Fallout 76, Please! Posted: 29 Jun 2018 12:11 PM PDT It struck me the other day that there will most likely be a lack of radio stations in Fallout 76. How fucking cool would it be if you could broadcast your own?? Your broadcast distance would be determined on how well your station and gear are build. Also, maybe SONGS could be rare items found on Holotapes out in the wastes that you could play on your Pipboy (also heard by near by players), but you could also play them on your radio show. AND! You could even record and hour show that could play on a loop while you go out. Think of the possibilities. You could try to rally other teams together, taunt other players, tell weird stories, or just make something awesome and enjoyable to listen to. I would love this. [link] [comments] |
Just a Thought: Power Armor in Vaults? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 08:23 AM PDT I was replaying through FO4 and I got the thought: if Vault-Tec knew of the dangers of a post war america, why did they never equip any of the vaults(not even the control vaults) with power armor? If not, even just a few suits, since it's obvious that the environment they would return to would be a new, dangerous and unknown one. It makes sense to have some heavier protection than measly vault security armor, and if the military was able to mass produce them, it doesn't seem like much of a loss to give some to the vaults. Your thoughts? [link] [comments] |
There may be no Red Rocket Gas irl, but in my hometown we have a Red Rocket Carwash! Posted: 29 Jun 2018 03:45 AM PDT |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 03:17 PM PDT So, as many people (myself included) have pointed out, Jet was created by Myren in Fallout 2 around 2240. However, Vault 95 in Fallout 4 (the Vault full of addicts and chems) also has Jet inside of it. Some terminals referring to the chem by name can be found in the Vault-Tec HQ for shipments of Jet to be sent to Vault 95. Meaning that Jet existed Pre-war. So what's true? Did Bethesda forget some of the lore and just write it down without double-checking, are they retconning the series, or is there some other explanation? How does this affect the next game? So, if Bethesda really did just forget the lore, it wouldn't be very surprising. There was over a decade between Fallout 2 and 3 and another 7 years between 3 and 4. Myron was even killed off after Fallout 2 so there wouldn't be much of a reason to think about him. Even in the lore, everyone forgets about Myron after he dies because he was an asshole that nobody liked. So, from here Bethesda can either say: "we forgot about that, that part of the game isn't Canon" or "Jet did exist before the War" and that would allow it to enter Fallout 76. Would this be considered a retcon? Maybe. Myron is a mysogyst asshole, harassing the player character if they're a woman. He owns slaves, he sells chems, he used said slaves like lab rats to test the Jet, and he even owns prostitutes even though he's 16. Bottom line is, Myron is not a good guy. Why do I bring this up? Because that explains the retcon. Bethesda can say "Myron didn't invent Jet. He just discovered it and recreated it. He lied to everyone and took credit." and that keeps in-line with his story and his character. So, Jet can exist in Fallout 76 and without serious retconning. Hurray. [link] [comments] |
