| Posted: 13 Jun 2018 11:59 AM PDT No pics (yet), but here's the story. I started a multiplayer map yesterday with the idea, build your own base/outposts. I spent a good couple of hours setting up a perimeter, getting everything fixed. And finally yeah .. it was ok. A couple of guys started fighting off the biters inside the fab, a couple others went to the perimeter to fix stuff, i went to a random outpost that was disconnected and still working to build emergency power supply. Slowly defenses came back up, we drove back the biters and after a pretty fierce battle of around an hour or so ... the walls were back up. Around 50% of the fab got destroyed in the attack, just a few hours later, almost everything is back up and running..... My god ... how i love this game, never give up! Always keep building , and when with others, cooperate! this attack was THE biggest one i have ever seen in 3k hours of playtime, and though it sucked that it took out most of the fab, it was most certainly epic to overcome and conquer. Many thanks to the guys that played with me! (especially Kevin, without your base we would've been doomed). [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 13 Jun 2018 04:30 AM PDT Yesterday I played multiplayer for the first time. Did not do any big planning, just cleared trees and repaired and put lightbulbs. I left my computer on overnight while riding a train. The other guys finished the game under 8 hours and I got all the achievements for it ... [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 13 Jun 2018 05:45 PM PDT I use Q to select the mining drill from my inventory when I'm on an ore patch by pressing Q on the actual ore. I'm wondering if there are other shortcuts like that. Besides the obvious one where you select the item you are hovering over. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 13 Jun 2018 04:43 PM PDT So little backstory, I played for like an hour or 2 last year and was really discouraged because I sucked so hard at the game. I randomly decided to start playing again, and watched a little tutorial on YouTube and enjoyed the game a lot more because it made more sense. So 4 days later, I'm 35 hours into my first real game. I just got robots.... oh my lord what a godsend. I'm now putting all of my resources into getting bigger and faster robots. The fact that I don't have to constantly refill chests with coal to power my steam engines is life changing. I can't wait to see what more I can do with them. Also... I think I'm addicted - pls send help [link] [comments] | ||

| What should I know about multiplayer etiquet? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 09:37 AM PDT In solo play I've gotten to yellow science, and I've only recently tried out multiplayer, but I felt lost and didn't know what to do. What should I know about playing in multiplayer? [link] [comments] | ||
| Biters only attack trains to get at tasty players inside, or because the train did a hit and run Posted: 12 Jun 2018 10:32 PM PDT Been playing with sandbox biters and noticed they never attack trains unless the trains had killed a biter recently, or if a player is inside them. (I don't kill nests unless I have to, and I spam efficiency modules for mining outposts, so output biter attacks are light enough for me to keep biters within range of my trains.) in my main game, to test the player matters theory, I had to take off my power armor to make sure no bots or laser attacks could be the trigger for chasing down the train.) As mindless predators this makes some sense, given trains are so not edible shaped. [link] [comments] | ||
| Best way to compress iron plates? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 01:05 PM PDT Trying to do Iron throne 3, and I noticed I didn't really have a good end product to put my beacons and prod moduled furnaces iron plates. What's the best thing to make out of iron plates? Steel seems kinda ineffective to consuming iron fast, but I don't know if I should go for red belts or red undergrounds, or if there is some other product I am missing. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 13 Jun 2018 05:42 PM PDT So in term of tiers. what do we want to minimize the use of to maximize UPS? limit belts, trains, bots, factories, beacons, etc? Which has the biggest impact on UPS and what has least? And my main question. What uses less UPS 4 chests requesting 250 iron or 1 chest requesting 1000 iron. Assuming they are used at the same rate with same number of inserters. Also which is better. factory output to 4 passive chests or into 1 passive chest. Thanks a bunch :D [link] [comments] | ||

| Smart outpost supplying with LTN Posted: 13 Jun 2018 06:52 AM PDT Hi! so I'm trying to supply my outposts with heavy oil for my flamethrowers turrets and some ammunition and replacement objects like walls, power poles and turrets. Both supply train and heavy oil train are easy to unload in their own stations but I want to build only one station and decide, depending of the levels of heavy oil and ammunition/objects, to call one or another train. I'm using LTN and if possible, I don't want to install red/green wires all the way to the outposts. Is that possible? [link] [comments] | ||
| I'm calling the feeling you have after making a complex design "Post-industrial syndrome" Posted: 13 Jun 2018 01:38 PM PDT Sorry if this post falls under "shitposts" rule, I'm not entirely sure... [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 13 Jun 2018 07:05 AM PDT Hey all, I'm still somewhat a new player (~200h) and have really just gotten to a larger base status for my first time (60h on this save). Something that I've found with my main bus is a huge imbalance from belt side to belt side. For example: I'm creating a lot of red circuits, and when I split them off to go to say, electric furnace production, I can't maintain the production level I would like on my electric furnaces because the splitter that is sending red circuits over is only taking from one side of the belt and therefore, only half of my assembly machines are actively working on red circuits. Because of this, electric furnace production is much lower than it could potentially be. So my question is this: how do I maintain belt balance once my factory starts getting a little large? Should I not care about small imbalances like this? How do I stop them? In the past, I've found the temporary solution of having a splitter feed one side of the belt back into the other side near the source of the production. But that seems like a bandaid solution. Let me know if you have solutions to this problem I'm facing. I can also provide images if people cannot understand what I'm talking about. [link] [comments] | ||
| Getting over achievements: Please help. Posted: 13 Jun 2018 06:51 AM PDT Yes, I am one of those players that love meaningless rewards, such as when I have the game ding when I do a thing. But recently, I've found myself not being able to have fun, unless I know achievements are enabled. I really want to try a modded run, but again, I will feel like my time was wasted because I have no documentation of my playthrough. I could just get all the achievements but I fear I will burn out by then. Most of 'em are pretty grindy. Help me convince myself that acheivements are meaningless and that I should just enjoy the game. (btw I'm not sure what to tag this post.) [link] [comments] | ||
| [QUESTION] What to do after automating iron and copper plate production Posted: 13 Jun 2018 08:37 AM PDT Hello fellow addicts, So, I'm fairly new to the game, but I already love it. I skipped the campaign and started a new game. I watched some live streams before, so I kinda new how to start. But now I'm stuck. I automated iron and copper plate production, and I have some steam engines running, researched a bit into logistics and automation. But now I don't know what to do next. I thought of automating the laboratory kits (or whatever they are called) and I'm probably going to do this next, but what after that one? Also I've some problems with storage. At the moment all iron and copper plates go into several chests, but what should I do with it? I thought of also automating conveyor belts and stuff, but where should I store that? Chests again? How do I stopp overproduction (I probably won't need 2000 claw arms, right?) Thanks in advance for answers! :) [link] [comments] | ||
| Creative writing based entirely off Factorio Posted: 12 Jun 2018 09:42 PM PDT [author note: 700+ hours. so I had to write something about this gem of a game.] The steel lungs breath, a stream of black coal vanishes towards the many hundreds of glowing furnaces with searing fire bellowing throughout. A roar as veins of iron, copper, tin disappears into the steel lungs. Puffy pillars of black stretch into the hazy sky. The factory breaths… The planet dies The ground plated in concrete and moving belts, thousands of machines mindlessly hum away and churn the gears of ever-expanding industry. Wheeled leviathans ride along steel roads, caring not for what is in their way. They only care for moving millions of tons of ore. Day in, day out The factory grows… The land begs Cold iron Arteries of black gold split the dying land, alienating the soil and rock. Wildlife attempt to batter down the cold stone walls but are turned down by sharp streams of ruby light The factory grows… The world bleeds The factory grows as the planet dies. Like cancer, unchecked turning once fertile plains into smog-stained realms. [all comments are welcome] [link] [comments] | ||
| How long did it take you to launch the first rocket? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 07:47 AM PDT I'm only starting to play this game. Since I had no idea what I'm doing, everything I got is still spaghetti. It's been 48 hours on single player and I'm not even close to the silo, what about you guys? How long did it take you to launch the rocket? [link] [comments] |
