I never thought I’d say this but ESO beats WOW in just about ever way now. Posted: 10 Jun 2018 08:33 PM PDT I was a long time WOW player. I haven't played WOW in a while I'll admit that but when I left WOW i don't think it was as good as ESO is now. The two things that really kept ESO from WOW status in my eyes have been address in total ESO fashion. That's the battlegrounds that came last year with Morrowind and now the itemization which has reached all new heights with its possibles due to summersets jewelry crafting and, almost as important, the change to 2 handed weapons now counting as 2 pieces of a set. What makes this so impressive is because instead of doing the safe thing and copying WOW to the T they set out on their own to make their own MMO experience and in the end it made it a far superior game to me. The character customization in this game is insane. Unlike WOW where it seemed like every class had one or two effective specs that you almost had to follow, ESO has numerous possibilities to create your own play style in each of the 5 classes. Now with the itemization being unlocked for more creative freedom due to being able to use any 2 five piece sets and an undaunted two piece sets I believe ESO has surpassed WOW in that regard as well. It's certainly the first time I've felt excited about loot in this game. For a long time it just seemed like they would just randomly throw new sets in the game all the time with no real purpose or goal to any of it. The crazy amount of sets I use to believe over saturated the game especially considering their were only a certain number of them that people would actually use because their effectiveness couldn't be matched but now that we have three different ways to try different combinations I think it just adds a layer I depth to something that I use to think was madness. It also totally fits with how ESO is as a whole where creativity and personal experience of the player is valued above everything else. Truly to me this game is the best MMO I've played in its current state. I've been on the game since it launched and it has been a bumpy ride. I honestly never really thought It would ever become my go to MMO for many different reasons but Zenimax just kept rolling out improvements and slowly over time address everything that I didn't like and now I'm beside myself in coming to terms with just how good it is now. I guess we can all be thankful it wasn't owned by EA or it surely would have been dead on arrival. I'm looking at you SWTOR! Anyways good job zenimax way to put in the work and create an amazing MMO even when it seemed as though it might be a bust. [link] [comments]

Saw E3, knew I had to get the game. Anything a fan of previous elder scrolls games need to know? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 07:52 PM PDT Been replaying Oblivion and Skyrim, so I hopped onto E3 and the game looks incredible. I haven't played since release at a friends house, and me and my friends decided to purchase it for $10. Anything I need to know or prepare for? Can someone ELI5 all the races/classes? So excited to play with you all. [link] [comments]
Took a break. Couldn't believe my eyes when I came back. Posted: 10 Jun 2018 01:41 PM PDT So I took a break after the jubilee to play other games and take some time away from the game so I could appreciate Summerset better. Before I even got there I was blown away. This game can't have looked this good before can it? Everything looks more vibrant and much higher resolution. I can make out the individual links on my Telvanni leg armor as I move in perfect detail. I do not recall it ever looking that good before. As for Summerset? Words very nearly fail me. The music is serene and uplifting, while inspiring a sense of adventure. The visuals are jaw dropping and the rays of sunlight glinting off my Glass armor is beyond my ability to pull words out my ass. The starting city is a labyrinth of white winding passages and stair cases that are beyond anything on ever expected to see in this game. On the surface it's feels so much more...alive for lack of a better word. Part of it is not having a previous game to compare the art design and architecture to helps of course but this feels more complete at least on the surface. I have spent an hour just wandering lost in the beauty and the music. I do not have the slightest desire do anything of importance because this is just too much fun to explore. If it looks this good what's TES 6 going to look like? Edit: https://imgur.com/a/KB1Ta6h if it looks this good on ps4 what does it look like on pro? Unfortunately my phone doesn't quite do it justice, but the idea is there. Edit 2: I promise I'll stop admiring the visuals and play the game eventually https://imgur.com/a/oEP8dXb Edit 3: TES 6 announced. Holy shit I called that lol [link] [comments]

Could you answer a few questions about Loot Boxes? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 05:03 AM PDT Hi there, My name is Dr David Zendle, and I'm a Lecturer from York in the UK. My research deals with how games affect their players - you might be familiar with some of my recent work which deals with a lack of evidence for violent games causing violent behaviour ( https://www.reddit.com/r/science/comments/7s6a9z/no_evidence_to_support_link_between_violent_video/ ) Another issue I'm interested in is loot boxes (or gacha): Who buys them; why we buy them; and if there is any relationship between buying them and gambling. I'd like to ask you about these things via a quick survey I've put together: https://york.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8hOEkbwpWVsdpBz If you would help me out by answering the questions in this survey, I would really appreciate it – and it would help us get to the heart of this important issue. You can answer the survey regardless of whether you have bought loot boxes in the past, or not. Thank you again for taking the time to read this message! David Zendle [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jun 2018 02:11 PM PDT I was in the beta/alpha for ESO for 8ish months. Active on the forums, I made Bazgrims Toolbar, Subtitles, etc. when the API first came out, but when they said they were going to release I thought they were crazy. Outside of leveling, there was nothing to do, crafting professions were a mess, builds were all over the place. Tutorials were awful, no direction, etc. They've done some serious work on this game since then and returning to it, I have to say I'm glad they stuck with it and didn't treat it as a "failed game". Despite some massive backlash at launch. The zone scaling is something that's fantastic and thought should've been in at launch, but better late than never. As someone just getting into the game again, the build advisor is a really neat tool. I think more games should have something like it for new players. Going into google and typing "Sorcerer Builds" gives heavily varying results and usually results in more stress and confusion. They've done a little more work on optimization, while it's still not 100%, I can play the game usually at 100FPS out in the open world and 50FPS in heavily populated areas at max settings. Crafting writs and the addition of the thieves guild is fantastic. I remember on the beta they actually implemented a very early version of being a "criminal" and then removed it before launch. Getting rid of "veteran levels" was the best possible thing that could've happened. It was almost mandatory in the beta/launch to get to max veteran rank before you could do anything serious. Now onto the negatives. I'm semi-disappointed in is that combat still feels kind of linear to me. It's improved since the beta, for sure, but it still kind of feels like my choices as far as spells go are pretty meh. I haven't had an MMO to date that has dazzled me with it's combat, but it just kind of feels like I'm the same as every other sorcerer running around. Always getting 100-140MS in-game for NA is semi irritating being on the west coast. I remember during the beta I did controlled node blocking with my anti-virus to get better latency, I don't know if that works anymore. Still having to edit INI files to max out textures is rather irritating. Just give me the option ingame for super ultra mega textures and put a warning on it for systems that can't handle it. Overall I'm having a lot of fun returning years later and seeing all the new stuff they've done with the game. I've bought all the DLC's and am looking forward to playing them. P.S. I don't know if the person who makes LUI Extended browses here, but THANK YOU! I used Tamriel Foundry Combat in beta and Atropos no longer updates that. [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Jun 2018 03:35 AM PDT So I'm leveling a templar and having a ton of fun, one thing i noticed is that for PvP a lot of the builds I see use heavy armor, where as for PvE they use light. How much effort is it going to take to respec my build for PvP when I want to pvp? Also how much does it cost to respec your points? 750 champion points seems pretty daunting, it seems like i don't have to really worry about it though since most parties i see are only asking for 160 which is cool, but i'm curious what champion leveling is like. How many levels do people usually get in a week? [link] [comments]
Should I get ESO on Steam if I already own base game? Posted: 11 Jun 2018 01:39 AM PDT Hey guys, as title states, I already own base game but recently saw that ESO is 50% off on Steam including Morrowind. I didn't really invest any time into the game I already own. (my max level is arround 20). So I'm asking, is it worth to get new copy of game + morrowind for 10e? [link] [comments]
[PC] Anyone know the specifics on rewards for the E3 thing tonight? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 07:32 PM PDT So I'm an hour later, is there still a chance for me to get a reward and when would I know since it's going to be on mute and alt-tabbed. [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jun 2018 08:43 PM PDT Hey friends. I saw the E3 conference and I'm curious about the game. I've mostly put in time towards Guild Wars 2, but I want to try out ESO (also tried FFXIV but that felt like a slow burn to me). Can someone explain how the base game/chapters/subscription model work? Is there a benefit to buying Morrowind/Summerset along with the base game (I.e. quality of life changes?) Are they stand alone stories that I can choose to begin at, rather than the base game's story? Also, is there a benefit to the $15/month subscription fee? Or can I pick this up once I get a feel for the game? One final question: does this game have an entry period where eventually it clicks, and how long would you said it takes? I know there's often a learning curve with MMO's and understanding the systems. I see ESO for $9.99 on steam and I'm very eager! Thanks for any information, appreciate it. Sorry if there's a sticky somewhere (there probably is) with all this information and I'm just missing it. I checked the sidebar! [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Jun 2018 06:00 AM PDT Just wanted to say a quick thank you to the devs for not giving up and making this game great. I bought it at first release on Xbox and boi was it a hot mess, now it's one of the greatest games I've ever played. [link] [comments]
Did ZOS remove the guards' insults? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 08:39 AM PDT When thievery was introduced the guards had some hilarious random comments sometimes you passed them. I can't remember everything but there was something like: "Want to lose some ugly fat?" and then they offered to chop your head off. There was definitely more, I think something about liking two things, eating sweetrolls and beheading people but then they stated they are almost done with eating their sweetrolls. I really liked these insults, even though I didn't do anything wrong. But I can't remember hearing some of these lines recently. Were they removed? Did ZOS say why? I can't find any information about this topic. [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jun 2018 08:16 PM PDT I'd like to play the story line and dlc's in order. I started as a warden, I think daggerfall faction (not really sure how to check). I'm pretty sure I'm at the start of the summerset dlc. How do I get to the main story? Also, I heard that if I start the main story, I will start in a prison and lose everything that I already have in my inventory, is this true? [link] [comments] |
