Aspyr says they’re “getting very close” with the Civ VI Mac-Pc Cross-play Update

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 08:55 AM PDT

My brother and I got pretty upset after still not being able to play together so I've been emailing Aspyr back and forth about whether or not the Mac-Pc cross-play update has actually still been in the works or not. This was the final verdict I got back:

"We have been constantly working on this since the product was released. I know that is probably not reassuring, but I can say we are getting very close.

Thanks again for your patience. Aspyr Technical Support"

This is the most I've heard about it in months so here's hoping they're telling the truth and are on the verge of releasing it.

Join the Civ (VI or V) Design/Modding Competition!

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 11:32 AM PDT

There's a Civ Design/Modding Competition currently ongoing for this week, for anyone that's missed the announcement. The competition asks of participants to design a civ for Civ V or Civ VI (or both), or to create a map for Civ V, based on a particular theme - but you can just join in the discussion or observe if you want too as well.

It's been a lot of fun bringing the disparate communities of civ together, and I hope this post will bring in some more interested parties.

King -> Emperor Transition

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 08:49 AM PDT

Anyone have any tips for transitioning to emperor from king? King is a cakewalk for me now but I still struggle on emperor unless I get an amazing start.

Is my game bugged, or is the AI completely incapable of understanding Loyalty.

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 07:36 PM PDT

Civ's are settling cities left, right and centre only to be lost to Loyalty. It seems like the superpowers end up just being whatever civ happened to have opponents settle near them rather than anything else. In my current game, Kogo is the strongest civ (turn 80, Historic speed) and of their 8 cities, 2 are ones they settled (including their capitals), and the other 6 are cities someone else settled, immediately lost loyalty, flipped to free city, and then to Kongo.

Of my 6 cities, 1 of them is a Cree forward settle that immediately flipped to me, and one is a city state that the Kongo conquered, only to have it immediately flip to me.

Sparta conquered London, only to have it immediately flip to Cree. Sumeria is running around conquering every city state it can get its war carts to, only to have them flip to whoever is closest.

I know how the AI does is sort of random, but in a normal game it doesn't feel that way In this game, the only reason any of them seem to be doing well is because other civ's are basically giving them free cities.

This is my first game in Civ 6 and it's absolute madness. I'm using a few mods (Better Australia colours, Historic Speed, and Detailed maps.) Loyalty is a fantastic mechanic and I love it, but this is really hard to take seriously. I seriously want to get a mod that turns loyalty off, or only applies it to the player or something.

Edit: Kongo just conquered Tibilisi, the Capital of Georgia, which sent all her other cities into a spiral, and now they have joined Kongo, so now they are at +3.

Norway not that bad on R&F?

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 07:35 PM PDT

On Deity.

Norway allows you to pump out an early ship (+3 era score for world's first seafaring unit and +4 era score for a unique unit).

With a coastal and riverside capital on a Continents map, I got Sailing ASAP and popped several Tribal Villages with it - including a relic (for a terrific pantheon and a mountain of gold when you sell it), several free population and huge eurekas and inspirations. Each tribal village also brings +1 era score. Others don't take these villages when they're buried deep in the Arctic and Antarctic - but your lone Longship reaches them easily.

I have a Classical Golden Age (even while avoiding barbarian encampment era score) at 30/24 era score, and now I can pump out builders for my Magnus-chopped cities. There are still several tribal villages to pop for era score.

TL;DR: Norway's early Longship can accelerate your game by so, so much. That alone makes Norway pretty decent.
