| I have ruined my most recent playthrough for myself. Posted: 26 May 2018 08:15 PM PDT I recently got skyrim for the PSVR, it's totally wicked btw, and decided to play as an Illusion wizard. Now I have been playing since the OG release on the 360 and have put probabaly around 1000 hours total into the game and illusion was the one thing I haven't touched. So I am level 18 with 100 illusion and it is absurd. Muffle plus Invisibilty makes you nigh undetectable making for the easiest Dark Brofherhood/Theives Guild quests ever. I just walk into literally any dungeon and cast Mayhem a few times, using calm on the stragglers, and just waltz to the end. Mirmulnear fell to my hyper-buffed guards. I feel more powerful than than any other playthrough I have ever done. Well, I did until I have realised I have literally nothing to fight dragons with. Turns out Illusion doesnt work on dragons and since I didnt level anything else I am getting two shot by blood and frost dragons while trying to lure them into random bandit or animal camps. Looks like my Wizard Lizard will have to learn Blizzard to stand a chance. tldr: Long time player tries Illusion only plahthrough. Dragons laugh at him. Which is bad. Since half the game is killing them. [link] [comments] | ||

| How to completely break Skyrim's combat system Posted: 27 May 2018 07:05 AM PDT So I see a most people tend to go with the sneaky archer or armored brawler, heck even my first playthrough was a sneaky bow user type. The mage class is severely underrated, especially when combined with stealth, so I'll throw my 2 cents out here with how I play my mage. To preface how game breaking this is, I am at over 100 hours of play and just shy of level 60 and I have never died. The kicker? I don't even wear armor, just clothes (you can, I just don't because it isn't necessary). How have I done this you ask? Two skills: silent casting and impact. Impact causes all dual cast destruction spells to stagger an opponent. This is abused by using either chain lightning or thunderbolt. These are the most preferred spells as lightning damage drains mana (making enemy ward spells go away) and it also has an instant travel time (an advantage over bows, as arrows have a travel time). Chain lightning is situationally great because you don't have to hit an enemy directly for it to connect. You can even fire it around corners if you just aim for a wall. Quick warning: chain lighting will only trigger the impact stagger on the first target if it is a direct hit. Silent casting (in the illusion skill tree) causes ALL spells to be silent to enemies. This includes your lightning. So, combined with a high sneak skill, you have all the advantages of a sneaky bow user with none of the downsides. Bows do not stagger reliably, and bows do not travel instantly. Since my character wears clothes with no armor value, it greatly reduces carry weight (after I bank my loot at home, my carry weight is 12/450). My clothing and jewelry are all custom enchanted, but the most important aspect is the enchants make my destruction spells almost free to cast (about 90%) so I can spam lightning everywhere. Dragons, giants, everything is always staggered when you dual cast. You will chain stagger by casting nonstop, effectively disallowing enemies to even move. On top of that enemies in dungeons will never find you if your sneak skill is high enough thanks to silent casting (if they can even stop being staggered and move). If you struggle in dwemer dungeons, this is definitely the build for you. If you obtain the detect life shout, you can sneak around with the shout active and see dwemer spiders in the walls before they even come out. Just cast chain lighting at the wall or floor where they are hiding. It will chain through the wall and hit them, causing them to come out of the wall. This allows you can stand a safe distance back and never be detected. All other skills and abilities are just icing on the cake, so feel free to do whatever. Enchantment helps a lot, but isn't a necessity. One last bit of advice for this technique is your dual cast lightning spells will cause bodies of enemies to get tossed halfway across the dungeon (or worse, down a pit). If you want to avoid this use indirect chain lightning damage to finish off your enemies, as all the indirect hits do not cause this to happen (they will just ragdoll where they stand). | Am I the only one who always reuses the appearance of old characters on new ones? Posted: 27 May 2018 06:48 AM PDT I was talking to my friend who said when she starts a new character it has to look different from the old ones, and she can't use the same (racemenu/ECE)preset twice. Meanwhile I'm here with my 1 favorite preset, always reusing the same face with some tweaks to warpaint, scars, hairstyle and color, etc. (except when I choose a different race). Is this unusual? Do you prefer making or downloading a new preset when starting a new character? Or just reuse old ones? [link] [comments] | ||

| The rules of this sub need to be talked about Posted: 27 May 2018 07:49 AM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/8mhic6/wheres_the_dragon_claw_drake/ This post gets removed; which, despite it being quality it's clearly stated in the rules it's not allowed (/r/SkyrimMemes is for that) Yet, literal rule 5 (No Low Effort Content such as Handprints, Meridia's beacon, etc) is literally half of the front page right now. https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/8mehe4/exits_pawned_prawn/ https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/8mgmwj/so_uh_do_you_do_a_lot_of_er_skooma/ https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/8mg5i4/couldnt_pass_this_up_today/ https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/8mfmxt/might_wanna_look_behind_you_buddy/ https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/8mer97/khajiit_is_sad_because_you_dont_have_coin/ https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/8mggir/good_ol_delvin/ I've seen the Delvin note and the guard dragon joke what feels like a million times. A picture of keys isn't apparently as low effort as a handprint. A picture (NOT A SCREENSHOT) of a khajit looking sad isn't low effort? And while the pawned prawn got a chuckle out of me, how's that better than the drake and josh joke? I understand the drake and josh meme was against the rules, but please be more consistent with "low effort content". If the meme isn't allowed then why are any of the posts I just posted are? And to the people who made those posts, I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, but I need to know what's allowed and what's not. [link] [comments] |
