I run into the closest town, shoot into the air once, nothing. six times, theres eight zombies on me, and then i kill them, wait a while, and the game freezes.

or i run a bit further, into a different town, shoot six times in the air, nothing.. switch to another town, six times in the air, nothing..

zombies only spawn in the first 10 minutes of entering a server or instance? There were about 5 zombies at NW airfield and about 2 at TISY,

but shooting didn't spawn more.

I've never understood why we can't use a rifle as a melee weapon.. A lot of the guns in this game have heavy wood stocks and it's would be sort of normal use to be able to smack someone or a zed with it in tight situations where you cant change to another weapon..

I kinda assumed with all the new animations that would be something added.

Hi been lurking for a little while. So obviously a lot you/us are playing Escape from Tarkov, and that game is riddled with issues that are killing the fun. Won't unwrap that bundle of woes here, if you're an Escaper you probably know what I mean.

The problem is... I REALLY fucking want to play and open world survival shooter... And DayZ seems to be one of a very small amount of options.

So, I guess I'd ask a few questions and leave it open ended: is participating in the stress tests good enough to justify buying the game? It seems to be getting better with each stress test (except the last one), and it looks really fun on stream.

So... Assuming it's not worth buying this for the .63 testing-- then is the current version (.62 standalone I guess?) at all worth playing? Are there enough active servers and players to justify paying for the old one and having .63 as a nice bonus?

I played DayZ mod, back in the first few weeks. Back then we were too retarded to realize just how easy it was to avoid Zeds, how shitty they were, and how to easily exploit the AI and great loot spots that made "surviving" basically pointless.

Once that became common knowledge, the game devolved into a deathmatch, followed shortly after by hackers everywhere. I haven't played since.

How has the game improved? Are Zeds dangerous again? Do you feel like you're actually fighting to survive?

Trumpet Issues

Sorry for long post. TL;DR at bottom. ;-;

I've been playing DayZ .62 to get ready for the Beta, so I just started a new character. I loaded in near Elektro, and after looting a bit I found a Trumpet with a scope and ammo. Then I found a zombie about 150m away, and I scoped in, lined up with its head, pulled the trigger, and nothing happened??

The gun fired, making a sound and consuming a round, but the shot didn't land?? I thought it was a bug, so I got closer, lined up a headshot at 100m, fired, but still no hit. Finally I snuck up about 2 meters away from the zombie, scoped in, and shot it in the head, killing it.

I thought that might've been a glitchy zombie, but every other zombie I've tried to snipe since then hasn't been registering my shots??

What's going on??

TL;DR I shot at zombies with a scoped trumpet, trumpet seems to not kill anything past 10m

(I fiddled with Pg UP and Pg DN keys, which changes the little meter readout in the top right corner, how does that affect the rifle?)
