Pokémon GO - If I never see another Meditite again, it will be too soon

If I never see another Meditite again, it will be too soon

Posted: 08 May 2018 08:16 PM PDT

I'd made my peace with the idea of hunting endangered species, imprisoning them in tiny balls, and making them fight each other to the <strike>death</strike> faint in underground dog-fighting clubs as a form of territorial gang warfare.

I'd even made my peace with the idea of slaughtering the weak to grind them up into cannibalistic "candy" to feed to the strong.

But this current event? With all these humanoid pokemons everywhere?

I don't know how much longer I can cope with the idea that I'm enslaving people to fight in our endless, pointless war of the Crypts vs the Bloods vs the Hufflepuffs.

Fuck me, but this game is DARK. So dark that it's driven me to drink (hence this shitpost).

Anyone else struggling to find Larvitar, Ralts, Bagon, and Beldum?

Posted: 08 May 2018 11:39 AM PDT

I mean look I get they are supposed to be rare but this is ridiculous. It's like whenever there is an event around these Pokemon get completely removed from the game. I haven't seen one spawn from any of the rare Pokemon even from Gen 2 & 3.

PSA: Latias is Harder than Latios, be prepared.

Posted: 08 May 2018 06:11 AM PDT

I live in Hong Kong and i got Latias first, then tomorrow Latios. I've heard Latios being easy on par with Rayquaza but i can tell you Latias is not the same thing.

  • It has much higher defense, meaning that it takes the same amount of people as Groudon, Ho-Oh and Kyogre to beat. Latios takes a minimum of 2 people to beat with multiple rejoins, Latias takes 3. With 7 or 8 people, it might take one or 2 rejoins to beat it.
  • Its Dragon Move is Outrage, not Dragon Claw, meaning that Dragons can be killed in seconds. I've used Rayquaza against Latias and she can unleash that attack in less than 6 seconds, bring the Ray to only a hamstring of health left, then fire another one and kill it instantly. The rest of the Dragons don't fare any more well.
  • On the reverse side it cannot threaten Tyranitar in any shape or way, so use your Tyranitars.
  • The Latias model looks very small but the distance is just the same as Latios. It's just the small size of its model that makes it look far away; It is not. The circle size however is smaller so it is harder to score excellents.

This was an unplanned approach with nearly twenty of us hitting Latias for the first time. Just for fun we got in with ditto, which did REMARKABLY well, all things considered.

[Question] Do I still have my Bagon candy?

Posted: 08 May 2018 05:48 PM PDT

So I got a Bagon Candy by feeding a berry to a Bagon on a gym, but I don't even have a Bagon yet. So will that candy be gone forever or will it show up if ever I get a Bagon? Thank you guys!

2018 Pokemon Go Fest Chicago Permits and Mapping

Posted: 08 May 2018 06:19 PM PDT

PSA: For the next two months, the EX invite pattern suggests we'll be getting weekday raids.

Posted: 08 May 2018 06:46 AM PDT

This is referenced by American Dates; if yours is normally a day later, just add in the +1 mentally.

03-23 -- Friday
03-30 -- Friday
04-07 -- Saturday
04-14 -- Saturday
04-22 -- Sunday
04-29 -- Sunday
05-07 -- Monday
05-14 -- Monday

Every two weeks, it moves forward by one day of the week.

The next two invites should be Tuesdays (05-22, 05-29), then Wednesdays (06-06, 06-13), then Thursdays (06-21, 06-28), and then finally in July we get to Fridays (07-06, 07-13) and Saturdays (07-21, 07-28).

So if you work a M-F schedule and are still vying for an EX invite, you may be best waiting until the second week of July to do your raiding to try to earn a invite. You may still be able to attend an evening EX raid, but my experience is early afternoon is when most EX raids are scheduled.

[Discussion] Adding TMs, Rare Candies, Star Pieces, Single use incubators, etc. to 7 day streaks

Posted: 08 May 2018 09:43 PM PDT

Is anyone else solely saving their Gen 2 Evo items for Celebi? Otherwise mine have been going straight to the trash. I haven't seen an onix since the pre gen 2 days, Scyther is rare as all hell, Porygon? Forget about it. Kingdra is useless, as is slowking, bellossom, and sunflora. If it wasn't for the dust/xp/ball gain, I wouldnt go out of my way for the streaks. Adding AT LEAST, non shop items like TMs and Rare Candy would incentivize me more if there was a chance at them dropping in there with the useless Evo items.

What do y'all think?

Shiny Odds?

Posted: 08 May 2018 06:19 PM PDT

I was wondering what the odds were of catching a shiny Makuhita or Meditite during this fighting event are. Are the odds still the same or are they boosted? Thank You!

Niantic is finally targeting spoofers or just those who used one specific modified version of the P-GO app?

Posted: 08 May 2018 05:50 AM PDT

About 20 days ago a lot of spoofers reported of being permanently banned after using one particular hack. Apparently this was the only modified version of the original client that caused these bans. We all thought that Niantic was finally targeting spoofers but what if they didn't? What if these bans were caused only because of this particular hack? At this point, if they were tackling spoofers they would have banned also other hacks on iOS or Android users who use apps to spoof their location. What do you think about all of this? Btw, who knows the meaning of "lock ban"?

Raid Times?

Posted: 08 May 2018 10:34 PM PDT

I live in Ohio and have been playing the game for a little bit. I work from 2-11pm and have lunch from 6-7, sometimes 7-8. I usually do my raiding during my lunch but I can never seem to figure out when raids exactly start and end. Does anybody know? I'd love to get to doing raids consistently. Thank you!

Is the GPS tracking worse?

Posted: 08 May 2018 06:25 PM PDT

I haven't played since the doggos were released, but I recently picked the game back up and realized that the GPS tracking is a lot worse. Even if I'm in the open with no roof above me, the game still claims it has lost GPS signal, or even just put me 2 blocks from where I should be.

I don't think it's my phone's GPS tracking being faulty, since Google Maps still works accurately. I'm running an Xperia XZ.

[Question] Cp gains with evolution.

Posted: 08 May 2018 08:58 PM PDT

I just got back into the game after a 10 month break and I've been powering through all my levels going from 10 to 30 in a short time. Looking back I had an Eevee that is capped cp for a level 9 account so only 247. He has great ivs and I would love to evolve him into a espeon/umbreon. I was just wondering if I evolve him will his cp go to the level 9 cap or will he jump to the level 30 cap?

Name Scheme

Posted: 08 May 2018 08:52 PM PDT

I'm curious about how other players name their Pokemon. I do Fast move/charge move then #/stat for any 15 IV. For example: a dragonite with dragon tail and outrage with a 15 attack IV would be DT/O 15a. If it's a 15/15/15 I would put 100% where the 15x is.

[Question] Is anyone else seeing an uptick in evolution items?

Posted: 08 May 2018 07:07 AM PDT

I've gotten like four evolution items in the last 12 hours. Now, this could be just really amazing luck, but I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this.

I really want to be 100% sure it will be Blast Burn and it seems that other Community Day Info was released over a week before Community day and we are getting closer to that time.

[Idea] A solution for rural players

Posted: 08 May 2018 03:57 AM PDT

As we all know, one of the big problems of Pokemon go is how hard it is for rural players to play it. And their love for the game is as any other player who lives in a big city. So in my opinion, they deserve more attention from Niantic to make the game enjoyable for them as well.

With the problem of the frequency of spawns is on the way of being solved in the future by allowing new pokestops entry, we will still have the problem of doing an advanced tier raids, especially legendary raids. With the introduction of quests and the ability to catch a legendary, they gave the advantage for players to catch the legendary Pokemon that they miss. But still not enough, as rural players are still watching city players catching new legendaries from raids as they watch helplessly.

MY IDEA is ... Making raids available in different difficulties for different rewards. That means, for example, you can choose to do a 5 star raid in "easy" difficulty and get only 500 xp as a reward, where in comparison, if you do the 5 star raid as normal (with other people) in "normal" diffeculty you will get the 10000 xp and the usual rewards and if you did a 1 star raid in "normal" you will also get the usual xp, which is still more xp than doing 5 star the "easy" mode. Then, wether you are a rural or a city player you will have the choice. The idea that you will be able to catch the legendary, no matter what your circumstances are. In the end, it will still not be the same experience as doing raids with people and being in a community, but that is something Niantic can't do for rural players.

............ ADDITIONALLY: the Gym and Raids rework would make that possible and more enjoyable. For example, adding also a "hard" difficulty can also be super challenging and fun, especially for advanced players. For example, let's say that you do a Latias Raid on "Hard" difficulty. It can mean that you can only use X amount of legendary, and one Pokemon of each (means no 6 Dragonites, for example, only 1) and that goes for all of the party members of the group. Or like, the challenge would be that you're not allowed to use a the super effective encounter Pokemon against the boss (means you're not allowed to use, for example, Dark type against Latias). And in the end you get bigger rewards. And so on ...

Sorry for the long text 😜 I wish you all a good day

18:9 phones on PoGo

Posted: 08 May 2018 07:36 PM PDT

Hi, I haven't played in about 7 months and recently got back into the game. Especially those quests ! I'm going to get my first flagship phone, Samsung Galaxy S8. Since all flagships have switched to this taller 18:9 ratio vs the old 16:9. How does Pokemon Go deal with this asleep ? Is it simply longer menus ?
