Heroes of the Storm - Rosterpocalypse Megathread

Rosterpocalypse Megathread

Posted: 07 May 2018 06:41 AM PDT

Hey everyone, rosterpocalypse is upon us, and already there are rumblings.

Here is /u/lerhond 's handy dandy spreadsheet.

In this thread, I will post CONFIRMED roster changes for the Summer 2018 Rosterpocalypse season.

I am limiting criteria for confirmed posts as follows:

  • Posts from team official twitter pages/websites
  • Posts from a player specifically saying "I have joined Team X" on Twitter (without refutation)
  • Posts officially from HGC /HeroesEsports sources

Things that are NOT confirmed roster changes. Note I will be willing to include well sourced posts in the Rumor Mill, however

  • Vague twitter posts where a player isn't named, but insinuated, regardless of any post
  • People changing their twitter bios or twitter handles without an associated announcement
  • Posts on any webservice not from either a player, manager, owner, or organization on the affected team or moving to the affected team (i.e., If Steve says Bob is Leaving Electronic Sports Incorporated, and Steve isn't a player or employee, it's considered hearsay)
  • Clips on twitch
  • Anything posted on Reddit by Bakery's Mom

Reliable Sources for Transfers

I find the above sources to be very reliable for roster changes. However, do note that liquidpedia is a wiki, and can succumb to vandalism. Thus, any unsourced changes on liquidpedia won't be posted as confirmed here.

Confirmed Roster changes China:

as yet there are no publicly confirmed changes, and realistically Chinese news is hard to come by, so don't expect anything here

No Free Agents Section

I decided not to maintain free agents lists in this topic, as then I have to make decisions about which free agents are notable and which aren't, and that just becomes a whole thing. So I will not maintain a list here.

Team Name/Sponsor Changes

Not roster changes, but listed here to avoid confusion if a team name changes

Roster Change Rules

As teams are now required to be owned by a single entity (does not have to be an individual, could be an LLC for example, but a single legal entity), roster changes are no longer capped. A team can literally replace all 5 players if they want to.

Roster Schedule

  • May 7 - May 14 - Roster release period - Players must be released in this window
  • May 15 - May 22 - Roster addition period - Free Agents may be added in this window
  • May 23 - May 24 - Roster approval period - Blizzard approves all roster changes for Phase 2

Note that despite these dates, the actual public statements may come later. Example, last season, Yoda played for Roll 20 at MSB, despite having been released from the team for Goku. This announcement wasn't made until after MSB. However, the actual roster change occurred in this window.

Player Sniping

A note that sniping, that is, contacting a player on another team directly to offer them a position on your team, is against HGC rules. However, Team Managers/Owners are allowed to contact other Managers/Owners to discuss trade or ask for permission to approach a player.

Rumor Mill

Here I will list unofficial, unconfirmed, or non-definitive posts related to roster changes. Posts are order oldest to newest based on when I received it:

Submitting a tip

You can either post a tip in this thread or PM me. Post it as a new comment, not a follow-up comment, so it ends up in my inbox. However, all tips must have a link to something. I will not post anything that doesn't have at least some source.

Thanks

I feel like focus on Nexus lore is a misstep.

Posted: 07 May 2018 09:23 AM PDT

I've been unsure about how to put this feeling into words, but I'll do my best here.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but 100% of the reason I come to Heroes of the Storm is the Blizzard characters. I have played and enjoyed every Blizzard game released since 1995, and these worlds and characters have meant a great deal to me throughout my life.

Focusing in on, and developing characters like The Raven Lord and The Gravekeeper feels like a weird direction to go in, to me. What I loved the first time I played Heroes was the interaction between characters that I already loved, who wouldn't normally interact. For every page of a future Gravekeeper comic that comes out, I'll be sad that time wasn't spent writing the first meeting of Li-Ming and Tychus, or Kel'Thuzad and Leoric.

And let me be clear, I'm not criticizing the quality of the art or writing, I simply don't understand why they would focus on characters nobody knows or cares about rather than the characters that draw people to the game. The Nexus itself and its denizens are near the bottom of the list of reasons I am interested in this game, and maybe that's the point of developing them further. But I just feel like, if I wanted to delve into a moba with more generic takes on this vibe, I would play League of Legends.

I already feel as if character interactions have taken a massive backseat compared to the earlier days of the game, and I wish Blizzard would refocus on the strengths and personalities of those characters instead of trying to make me care about The Raven Lord.

With the new Home screen having auto-switching tabs, the New Hero tab shouldn't repeat the loud effect and quote every time it appears

Posted: 07 May 2018 07:36 AM PDT

It gets annoying after a while and forces me to open the window and move to a different screen if I alt-tab right after launching it.

The initial animation and effects should only occur once, with the hero continuing its idle animation and slight background sound whenever it comes on.

Prismaticism is leaving Simplicity

Posted: 07 May 2018 01:24 PM PDT

I absolutely love the music in this game, and it is kind sad that it does not sincronize with the objectives since the objective times rework.

Posted: 07 May 2018 12:39 PM PDT

It is so awkward that the music change out of nowhere for no reason, at the start of many maps. Some patches ago, the theme would change with the announcer explaining the objective. Now the music changes and nothing happens, being kind awkward.

Bliz please fix that.

AI Needs to Respond to Pings

Posted: 07 May 2018 08:34 AM PDT

We just had Malfurian AI who suicided three times

  • At low hp, stood right in the middle of bruiser camp, literally 2 hits and this guy is dead. We pinged retreat repeatedly. Did not retreat. Died.

  • While team is down, went DEEP top lane, as far away from other players as possible. We pinged retreat. Did not respond. Did not even make any attempt at doing anything. Died.

  • Did the same thing immediately AGAIN. Same deal. Dead.

Three deaths. Three 60 second timers. This isn't even AI, this needs to be a complete override of their programming to immediately do what they're pinged to do. There is no hard choice being done here where there's a critically low hp ally and malf has to decide whether to save them or retreat, this is literally "I am walking alone towards a fort for absolutely no reason, there is no reason why I, the healer, would ever do this and there is absolutely no reason why I, the player, would ever do this alone when the team is down and it's level 20."

They shouldn't be doing that in the first place, but at least give us control with pings.

Official Ding Tier List (Deckard Patch)

Posted: 07 May 2018 05:32 PM PDT

So for those of you stuck in bronze let me explain this simple concept: Every time you hear a ding, your hero gets more powerful. Ergo, the heroes that can get the most dings are the most powerful. A real no brainer.

Below are the rankings of heroes based on their Ding scores.

God Tier Blue God Tier

Azmodan, Chromie, Nazeebo, Tychus

God Tier

Alarak, Gazlowe, Junkrat, Kel'Thuzad, Medivh, Ragnaros, Raynor, The Butcher, The Lost Vikings, Varian, Zul'jin

Viable

Alexstrasza, Ana, Arthas, Auriel, Blaze, Chen, Deckard, Falstad, Fenix, Genji, Gul'Dan, Hanzo, Jaina, Kael'thas, Kharazim, Lucio, Malthael, Muradin, Murky, Nova, Probius, Stitches, Stukov, Tassadar, Thrall, Tyrande, Uther, Valla, Xul, Zarya

Weaklings

Anub'arak, Artanis, Cassia, Cho, Dehaka, Diablo, E.T.C., Gall, Garrosh, Greymane, Illidan, Johanna, Leoric, Lt. Morales, Maiev, Malfurion, Rexxar, Sammuro, Tracer, Valeera, Zagara, Zeratul

Dead Weight

Abathur, Brightwing, D.Va, Kerrigan, Li Li, Li-Ming, Rehgar, Sgt. Hammer, Sonya, Sylvanas, Tyreal

Now obviously there's going to be some debating because people on the internet are stupid

First is Genji, who has an OK ding on it's own for hitting things with ninja stars, but what propels him to Viable tier is the level 20 Ultra Ding for tink-tink-tinking 6500 damage.

Alarak is similar in that he has a Ultra Ding available at both levels 1 and 4. What keeps him from being God Tier Blue God Tier is the difficulty in maxing out the number of Dings you get, as you could accidentally get the Ultra Ding early which prevents you from getting more Dings.

Varian has many different builds but really why would you not go for High King's Quest, which has the power of three different Ding quests in one.

Globe Quests require you to have an attention span so they rarely generate enough Dings to make heroes that rely solely on them worth it. The exception to this is The Lost Vikings as you tell your allies to get globes for you in all three lanes.

Sometimes not the hero is op but the player

Posted: 07 May 2018 04:10 PM PDT

This is not a post about "x hero is not op" but rather an anecdote that I experienced yesterday and thought I would share with you. I played with Hanzo in Quickmatch on Warhead Junction. The enemy team had a Deckard Cain and the Lili on my team complained the whole game how stupidly op deckard was. She was sure of a nerf next patch but tbh I think he is fine they should rather buff the other supports. We led almost the whole game but unfortunately Deckard's team managed a turn around. At the score screen, our Genji and Lili again complained about Deckard being op but then I read the name of the player: "Linked" of Leftovers, number 34 GM. Just to compare, I checked the ranks of my teammates and the highest were me and Genji (Platinum 3 and 2 respectively). No wonder they would think a hero is op when a pro is playing him. Well, that was it, just a small QM story.

AI Heroes constantly trying to hearth back

Posted: 07 May 2018 03:28 PM PDT

When you ping an AI, after a player has left the game, it will try to constantly to hearth back, quit and then try again. Why is it doing such stupid things?

Create a level 30 talent tree for your main (Game)

Posted: 07 May 2018 05:41 AM PDT

When a team reaches level 30 the match is likely decided if it's not over yet. So for a creative game, create 1 or more level 30 talents for your hero.

Rules: 1. They must be something that would end the game very fast 2. They must fit with the core idea of your character, (Don't change an assassin into one that can heal his/her team or vice versa) 3. They must not be openly busted (No, "Auto Attacks now instantly kill everything") 3a. But can still be very powerful (Anyone else remember Ess of Johan?) 4. They can just take the piss out of a hero (see below)

Example:

Raynor: We're all Laynors Now 180 second cooldown

Raynor turns one nearby minion into an untalented copy of himself controlled by beginner AI, with 25% stats that push down the nearest lane. They each have the name of the Raynor player

This was just a random thought I had, hope you can make something out of it.

Happy Memeing.

TIL that if you hunt a hero as Illidan and it dies while you're mid-air, you fly under the altar.
