We need to keep letting Bungie know that we appreciate high level endgame! (please DON’T make escalation protocol easier)

Posted: 11 May 2018 08:37 AM PDT

TL;DR: we need to retain difficult endgame grind or once again we'll run out of things to do really fast.

This is in response to a highly upvoted post saying Bungie made a mistake with escalation protocol, that it's too difficult with 3 man fireteams and that they should allow 6 or even 9 ppl fireteams to load in together.

While I strongly agree that more 6 man fireteam activities would be way more fun, I strongly disagree that escalation protocol is too hard.

This is part of my comment on that thread:

  • Last night my fireteam was seconds away from clearing level 3 in escalation protocol and there were only 2 or 3 blueberries with us.

We were uncoordinated, didn't plan/use debuffs, it was our first real go at it, didn't have valkyrie, and we are between 350 and 360 light.

I really think once we level up and strategize more it won't be too bad as a fireteam of 3 with a small group of blueberries.

For now, I appreciate having a challenge and a "public event" that we actually have to grind for because I remember running out of stuff to do in the other seasons. -

The expansion has been out for THREE DAYS. It'd be horrible if we could beat all the content already. Please don't make the same mistake and ask bungie to tailor things to casuals.

again, i agree having 6 man fireteams in more than raids would be really awesome... but not so we can make things like escalation protocol easier.

We need bungie to know that we appreciate high level endgame.

edit- sorry if formatting is bad. don't post much and i'm on mobile

edit2- to clarify, i am inferring that having a 9-man fireteam would make EP easier. if EP was made for 9-man fireteams, it should be way harder than it is right now.

Josh Hamrick openly acknowledging misteps with the Mod System is absolutely fantastic and I applaud him for his candor.

Posted: 11 May 2018 07:25 AM PDT

YT Link: https://youtu.be/sQRj9PhtOvA

About a full hour into the Destiny Community Podcast the gang gets into the subject of armor and the decisions that were made. It seems obvious that it is a complicated subject to explain but then it segues into the topic of how the mod system shipped with D2. To which he stated, "The mods we shipped with D2 were awful. The whole system is bad and I can say that because I worked on it."

Holy shit.

This type of openness and honesty with the community is absolutely incredible compared to how Bugie has conducted itself in the past when faced with issues. This is the type of communication we need in the gaming community and I hope that this trend continues moving forward.

Also, shout out to Jon Weisnewski for his no nonsense responses to obviously difficult questions.

Killing it, guys!

Why is our guardian still looked down on?

Posted: 11 May 2018 04:40 AM PDT

It's starting to really annoy me that every time we come up against some threat or something new they instantly think we're not capable of carrying out the mission. For example, in Warmind Anna is surprised we even got to meet her. Are you serious? After all we've done how has she not heard of the Guardian that killed Atheon, Crota, Skolas, Oryx, Aksis, Panoptes, and Argos? We should be a fucking icon to these guys. Not to mention when we see Zavala in Warmind he talks down to us like we've just been late to class for the 5th time in a week. I would like the world around us to start acknowledging the feats our guardian has accomplished.

Why the actual fuck are people complaining that end game is a high level, it's end game for a reason.

Posted: 11 May 2018 11:00 AM PDT

People legitimately complained that end game was too easy, and now that it's hard people are pissed again???? This community is becoming so damn bipolar it's insane.

Please watch the percentage in the warsat PE

Posted: 11 May 2018 08:52 AM PDT

Witches spawn at approximately 23%, 48%, and 73%. But if you get to ~85% the final shrieker will close or stay closed if it hasn't opened yet. Stay out of the circle when the final witches spawn or you may doom yourself to the non-heroic version!

Lord Saladin should've replaced Zavala as the skeptic

Posted: 11 May 2018 08:45 AM PDT

Just re-imagine the scene where we open the door to Rasputin w/ Ana:

Lord Saladin: ...Hello, Guardian

Ana: Oh, Sh...annkkkss.

Lord Saladin: (Very angry tone, borderline yelling) Don't you know how dangerous this is? Don't you remember the SIVA crisis? Rasputin slaughtered our Iron Lord brothers and sisters! (passive aggressively)...Young Wolf.

I told you once that Rasputin is no longer a Warmind. We attempted to simply access the SIVA replication chamber in the Plaguelands...and we failed. And now you're attempting to manipulate Rasputin AT HIS CORE!? Have you learned nothing...Or are you simply an idiot?

THAT is the skepticism that I wanted from Zavala. Except Lord Saladin was personally affected by Rasputin's actions. And during the last cutscene when Rasputin said that the Vanguard tried to use him as a primitive weapon, imagine if Lord Saladin was there and he mentioned the use of SIVA by the Iron Lords. That would've been awesome.

Just my thoughts. lol

Bungie makes you do a 9 man mode as a 3 man group

Posted: 10 May 2018 11:23 PM PDT

Escalation protocol was advertised as a 9 man encounter. I managed to get a 9 man group together only to realise we could only launch in groups of 3. We could have tried bunny hopping around until all 3 fireteams managed to synchronise but due to the low player density in EU we would never get put into the same server as the average for Mars is about 5 people per server.

So Bungie is making people do a 9 man game mode as a 3 man game mode and furthermore if you have the luck to find someone you cant even communicate.

Bungie, Please let us launch as groups of 9

Bungie, could we see the return of the original quest page?

Posted: 11 May 2018 07:36 AM PDT

This was so much more immersive in regards to the RPG aspects of the game. I think milestones work in what they do, but everything seems scattered, and just overall doesn't please my want for a more organized system.

Now that Exotic Engrams don't decrypt at your current light lever or high, getting duplicates is even more frustrating

Posted: 10 May 2018 11:43 PM PDT

Getting duplicates is always annoying but you could at least infuse them to get a higher light level. Now getting duplicates is just a waste of exotic engrams

Mars is by far the most entertaining space so far.

Posted: 11 May 2018 07:23 AM PDT

I do believe the base game spaces were nice and most of the time active with events, however Mars just has more depth to it. Like other zones there is always a lot going on. Public events, High Value targets, and now EP. What mars has that the other zones don't is great depth and a lot to chase. Every corner has something to find. Chasing after the 45 collectibles was so fun I did it for maybe 6 hours straight just exploring each corner of the map trying to find them without guides. Then there are the sleeper nodes. You earn fragments from doing activities in the zone which eventually add up to a key. Then you have to figure out where to go and listen for that old Russian music which really sets the atmosphere. I really appreciate Mars and look forward to what bungle has planned with the fall comet.

either drop heroics to 340 light level or have them drop up to 350 light gear

Posted: 10 May 2018 11:47 PM PDT

Now is a better time than ever to suggest Nightfalls need normal matchmaking

Posted: 10 May 2018 08:40 PM PDT

Heroic Strikes: 3 modifiers, 350 recommended PL

Nightfall: 0 modifiers, 270 recommended PL

Why do Heroics have matchmaking and not Nightfalls? Am I wrong to say heroics are much more difficult (depending on that days modifiers) than Nightfalls right now? The only difficulty to the nightfall is getting a team together. Now you can throw in the scoring and those modifiers to make it more difficult but as far as doing a straight up nightfall for the milestone, there's no real difficulty there anymore.

The Reason for Jade Rabbit's Lackluster Exotic Update (from the Destiny Community Podcast)

Posted: 11 May 2018 09:03 AM PDT

Jon Weisnewski talks about Jade Rabbit and the reason it couldn't be updated more substantially. In D1, the exotic perk for Jade Rabbit was technical enough that it was "hard coded" into the weapon. It is the same for D2, and doing anything more substantial isn't possible with designer-facing tools. In Jon's words, he would need to "ask an adult" for help with a more technical update.

Glad to hear more technical explanations like this, especially since there was minor outcry at the Jade Rabbit buff.

Ana Bray Quest Weapons are Powerful Drops

Posted: 11 May 2018 03:04 AM PDT

This may not be well known so I thought i'd share.

On my second character after completing the first section of the campaign Ana gives you the choice of 3 weapons (scout/pulse/auto).

If you don't pick one of these and come back later it scales with your light. I'm ~360 and can select a weapon that is now 359.

Bungie, we absolutely need a solo playlist, now more then ever

Posted: 11 May 2018 08:50 AM PDT

Solo playing has always been quite hard in D2, due to the teamshot meta. As of now though, I believe having a decent win rate in competitive (and quickplay too) is even more difficult, especially with the addition of the Claymore, which draws in many more people (and especially groups).

As you can see, in these circumstances solo players are completely screwed. We need a solo playlist.

Getting matched against a full team and getting stomped is not fun, and neither is getting matched with a 3 man team and completely stomping the solo opponents. Close matches are really rare right now.

I'd really like to grind to get the Claymore, but I came to realize that I can't at the moment, if I want to keep playing solo, as it will probably be a pointless and infinite grind.

I'm Actually Enjoying the Heroic Strikes

Posted: 11 May 2018 04:16 AM PDT

Probably unpopular, probably get down voted, but I'm actually enjoying them. Something, other then a raid, that is actually challenging (at least for now) in Destiny 2. No longer can we just breeze through heroic strikes, we have to be careful and have a plan.

Yes, the loot sucks, they should drop loot at 350 or higher, but the actual running of them, I am enjoying.

Is there anyway that Bungie could make it, as solo players, when loading into an instance it's a full instance instead of an empty one?

Posted: 11 May 2018 03:02 AM PDT

This is just my take on the whole discussion overall on this subreddit. Many posts here on the front page have already mentioned of something similar. As a solo player I would love to try and tackel the new Escalation protocol activity. Problem is most instances I load into is just me and another person or two. Someone also noted that it limits only 5 people at a time in an area, possibly leaving room if people want to join those other people or yourself. So as the title suggests why isn't there a system to make it where your always loading into a full instance. I know for sure I'm not the only person in an area at a given time. Why is Bungie limiting social activity in a social game? Who knows. "Oh but InvadingBacon," you say. "It can't be done because then how could your friends join on you if it's full or vice versa." Well you have the option to set your fireteam status to private or public. Public it leaves it as it is so people can join but private will close it out only leaving yourself being able to load into a full instance. Anyway this has been an issue going back to Archons forge and Court of Oryx. Maybe they will find a fix for it in the upcoming months

Here are some of the posts just withing the last 12hrs with the same consensus about the matchmaking for EP or about empty "public spaces" altogether
