Rant: just because a hero’s winrate is high, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s overpowered. Posted: 27 Apr 2018 06:39 AM PDT Spec is sitting at pretty high winrate right now, and I have heard of people saying that she's "OP". That's the point. She's designed to be "OP" at 60 minutes. I got into Dota because the diversity of heros and the allure of "big carries" (was faceless void, dusa, and spectre when I got in at 6.72). Now I've had over 1200 spec games and got to 5k. I can tell you right now that spec was absolutely dogshit in the last half year or so since the ult cooldown nerf and radiance nerf. In fact, radiance is no longer viable for cost in my opinion, since a large output of radiance damage were cut in half as they were illusions. Meanwhile, battlefury became cheaper and the flash farm meta begin. At this point, spec is weaker than all the meta carries. Naix directly counters spec. Tb counters spec that build big hp and endurance with frequent sunder, etc. Popular offlane heros just shit on spec as the weakest laner ever. Meanwhile, support were being buffed. Increase in durablity and escape ability destroyed spec. The high winrate was an illusion. A symptom, rather than cause. Its cause is ultimately the disorganized nature in low level pubs, that allowed heros like spec win games she shouldn't win. I am hoping a faceless void like rework that decrease her late game power somewhat but compensate her with good ability to offlane also [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Apr 2018 09:43 AM PDT OD took a huge nerf to his early & mid game by increasing the cost of Astral Orb and mana cost of force staff and hurricane pike. OD use to be able to come online the moment he hits 6 and sorta fall off later when everyone gets bkb's, silence or disable. Now his power curve is maybe in-game minutes 20-40. I sorta feel like this nerf is pretty harsh on him. He's also pigeon holed into that Mana talent at level 15 as a direct result of the increase in mana costs. Anyone else feel this way? He sorta went from a good tier to garbage tier as a result. What could they do instead to make him more linear or balanced? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Apr 2018 11:55 AM PDT So Ember spirit got some nice buffs, including the increase magic absorption on 1st level flame gaurd and changing chain dps (but not total damage). However he still suffers from being a melee with no poor man shield. Something that has seen his mid-play go down alot. I was wondering two things.

Supports can't catch the first wave anymore Posted: 26 Apr 2018 11:37 PM PDT If the offlaner gets a good creep block and gets the ranged creep far ahead of the melee creeps the supports can't catch the creep anymore. If the support walks up the ranged creep doesn't stop to attack them, it just keeps running to where the waves naturally meet. I think it's a really strong alternative as an offlane to the first wave pull. Get the lane pushing against you and there's not much possible counterplay. Maybe offlaners won't have to play enigma or lich or have their 4 sit in the offlane. [link] [comments] |
[No spoilers] Virtus.pro vs. paiN Gaming - Why wouldn't morphling use Terrorblades E? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 12:07 PM PDT Morphling that game stole terrorblade every fight. Uses reflection which is really good, but why did he never use TB E? It could give him so much damage, and since morph is always morphing max agi, he'd attack super fast [link] [comments] |
What am I doing wrong? (Support ogre <2k) Posted: 27 Apr 2018 01:46 PM PDT I feel like I am playing really well, especially the second game, but obviously something is going wrong. I am the ogre in these 2 games. Game 1: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3853773665 Game 2: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3853728363 I feel like if I was playing carry and had me as a support I would dominate these games. Any tips or advice is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Thoughts on Shadow Fiend this patch 7.14? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 10:55 AM PDT Every patch SF have gotten nothing but nerfs. Now in 7.14, he got his talents nerfed. 8% spell amplification and a 35% movement speed. Winrate in Dotabuff is now 45%. Is SF still a go-to-reliable pick this 7.14 meta? Or other heroes simply outshine him now? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Apr 2018 10:43 AM PDT With all the changes in patch 7.14 to the offlane pull as well as Dark Seer I figured I should give him a try. He completely DESTROYS pubs now. The issues I always found when playing him in pubs is that he more often than not takes too long to come online and just doesn't get as much done compared to other offlaners. This has all changed with 7.14. Now that offlane pull is dead Dark Seer is one of the only heroes that can actually pull off a similar trick. There's a post going more in depth on this subreddit but essentially you go behind t2 and pop an ion shell on the middle creep running down the lane. This effectively kills all but one of the creeps in the wave and messes up creep equilibrium. Now that he's one of the few heroes that can do this it makes him way more valuable than other offlaners that have to either resort to jungle or just remain level 1 forever. Then comes the build. While mek may be a decent item on Dark Seer its better to just get Helm of the Dominator. There are plenty of threads/videos on this topic as well so I won't go into detail. Then with the change to Vacuum you can start ganking and fighting the instant you get a point in it. This means you aren't just an afk farming detriment to your pub team and you can actually help win the game early on. The change to vacuum ALSO means you can go straight into blink after helm without having to worry about wasting value due to vacuum being garbage. Then you can just do standard Dark Seer stuff. Splitpushing with ion shell. Setting up kills, etc. Try it out and tell me what you all think. Problem in playing competitively Posted: 27 Apr 2018 08:16 AM PDT I've been playing competitively roughly for 5 years now, in tournaments etc, sometimes where it involves gambling, but it seems everytime when I play I always get so damn nervous that my hands are shaking, can't think and play properly, and its messing up my game, and I can't seem to play at my fullest potential because of this, I think its because I somewhat don't trust my skills, or I'm somewhat overwhelmed if there's a person watching me while playing, anyone can give me an advice besides experience? Any tips I can overcome this weakness? [link] [comments] |
Pangolier, and how to play him Posted: 27 Apr 2018 03:08 PM PDT So, I've recently taken an interest in Pangolier. I'm a primarily offlane player, and I like his fun gameplay and high kill potential. Unfortunately, I tend to do well in the early game, but loose a lot of relevance as the game goes on. I normally play in the Archon bracket, so nothing crazy here. I've narrowed down most of my problems to a few key questions:

Looking for casual dota2 players for a public tournament Posted: 27 Apr 2018 10:58 AM PDT Hi :) We did a thing. We created a dota2 competition site and now we would like to ask for your help to test if the concept behind the idea works and if the homepage can handle many participants. This weekend we will run the very first "public" tournament with 100+ people, starting on Friday at 21 o'clock (CEST). The best / most active players will win an awesome pudge set, rank 2&3 treasures. You don´'t need to download a software or join custom games. These tournaments are not about eliminating other teams or Players. You earn points by playing normal or ranked games (also games as a stack are possible). Who got the most points after the race ends, wins the tournament. The points are determined by a formular, which you can see in the race overview It is very easy to join this tournament by visiting us at www.yourgamerace.com, log in with your steam account and join the tournament (races tab). If you have any questions you can add me on steam (Tismatan) or join our discord (you'´ll find the link on the homepage). Hope to see you around YGR [link] [comments] |
Is Aghs + maelstrom build on Gyro way better now? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 04:25 AM PDT With the big maelstrom buff and sny nerf I feel like aghs + maelstrom build will be better than standard sny + butter, what do you think? [link] [comments] |
What do IO players think about the 7.14 changes? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 12:01 AM PDT I've had my eye on giving IO a try for a while now. Have the 7.14 changes been a nerf or a buff? Would new IO players find the spirits easier than the old ones? I have played old IO a few times, just not regularly enough to know how these changes impact the hero. Any IO veterans got opinions on the patch and any tips for playing him/her/it? [link] [comments] |
Offlane Techies laning stage in 7.14? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 04:38 AM PDT How have you guys been playing Techies in the offlane during the laning stage? Do you go solo? Dual? Any cheesy strats? Tips? [link] [comments] |

how does ms percentage-based bonus/minus work? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 07:49 AM PDT mirana ult now gives you 15% bonus ms. lets say you have 300 ms without boots, after mirana ults, you get 345 ms; if you get dusted, your ms will be reduced by 20%. which number will this 20% affect? the 345 or 300? out of these three invoker players, who would you recommend to learn? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 12:11 AM PDT or are they all relatively equal? abed, cancel or miracle. planning to binge replays from these fuckers (ill watch all three of course) but i was wondering if there's anyone to watch specifically? i would rate miracles laning prowess over the others but abed's spell usage is pretty good. Posted: 27 Apr 2018 02:59 AM PDT There's been talk of this a lot recently and then there was the patch that stopped first wave aggro, and now someone has posted about getting the ranged creep ahead of the rest. I am so lost. I only recently started playing dota heavily again (about three weeks ago after 2 months or so off) so I may have missed a dotabuff article or a post on this reddit/dota 2 reddit Can someone please help me out? Thoughts on the fortnightly patches Posted: 26 Apr 2018 09:51 PM PDT When it was announced that Dota 2 would be patched fortnightly with smaller patches I was excited. I imagined Dota would be a bit more dynamic and totally imbalanced things would get balanced more quickly. However, the patches so far haven't been small in terms of how impactful on the game they are, and the last 2 especially have flip-flopped so many things. I liked the way the meta was developing pre-7.13. Early game brawling that turns into a snowball, but different to the TI4 deathball meta that people overwhelmingly hate, was fun to watch (at least for me). Icefrog wants to make Dota more late-game oriented? Sure. That's the way it goes, and the stat changes in 7.13 were cool to think about and may give an edge to heroes that have been overlooked for ages in pro games (eg. Slark). Now 7.14 seems to have as many changes as a 6-monthly patch would. I'm not concerned with the changes themselves, things like the early passive regen nerf are probably welcomed by a lot of players, but that has to have a huge impact on the early laning stage. Dota is already one of the most complicated games imo and requires a deep level of learning over thousands of hours to truly hang. I can't imagine how a new player wouldn't be bamboozled by the rate of change recently, if they read the patch notes at all. [link] [comments] |
Blademail and medallion interaction? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 01:55 AM PDT How good is it to medallion someone and axe blademail call him? If I remember correctly, blademail's return damage type is the same as the incoming damage type. So physical damage should return physical. I'm thinking since medallion reduces my own armor and the enemy's armor, when I'm attacked I get more damage and that damage is returned to enemy who receives even more damage because his armor is reduced. Sounds too good to be true. Never tested it. What do you think? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Apr 2018 08:12 PM PDT If io tethers sb, can he go with spirit breaker on his charges? This would allow for great early ganks with his spirit slows [link] [comments] |
