Please add these options to Terrorist Hunt

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 07:27 AM PDT

  • Headshots Only - On/Off

  • Bombers - On/Off

  • Nitro Cell - On/Off

  • Barbed Wire - On/Off

A lot of us use T-Hunt as a means of improving aim, and it gets annoying to get stuck in barbed wire, or to get blown up out of no where by a bomber or nitro cell. How many times do you actually get killed by a terrorist? Please consider adding these options, especially headshots only as it will be very beneficial in terms of improving aim.

Fireworks. (A Rook Diaries What-If.)

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 09:28 AM PDT

For as much time as Julien "Rook" Nizan spent in the Rainbow headquarters canteen, he rarely ever got actually inebriated. He just found that sooner or later, almost everyone filtered into the bar to have a drink, and there he could talk with them idly for a moment. Rook was, in short, something of a social butterfly.

However, today he was drinking rather heavily. He had been part of a VIP extraction from a White Mask cell in Prague, and he had taken several small rounds to the vest. His armor had held up exactly as it was supposed to and he had walked away with a few bruises up and down his left side, but not even a broken rib ailed him. However, the bruises hurt.

He was aware that Doc could prescribe some painkillers that would be more effective than the several old fashioneds he had partaken in, but Rook figured it was all the same.

Besides, the past few hours had been quite enjoyable. Many of his fellow operators had moseyed in and out and he had had a chance to talk with each of them, and share a drink with more than one. Now they had all left, and he had retired to a booth, slumped in a pleasant looseness, waiting for one more operator to enter the canteen, as he knew she would. She had been on an operation and she should be returning soon.

And his suspicions were correct. He heard the door open, and in walked Taina "Caveira" Pereira. He gave her a wave, and she walked to join him. She had barely sat down when Charlie placed drinks in front of her. There was a tall glass with a white foam on top and chocolate liquid beneath, a chocolate egg cream, and a smaller drink with cream floating above a coffee colored liqueur.

"Thanks, Charlie," she said, and looked at the two drinks. Then she looked at Rook. "You already ordered for me?"

"Oui. You know Charlie, any time he gets to break out the chocolate syrup he's as happy as a clam," Rook said.

"What's this one," Caveira asked, pointing to the smaller drink.

"A White Russian," Rook answered. "I thought you might like it." Then he remembered something. "Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot. You don't drink. Here, I'll just-"

But Caveira cut him off with a grin. "I'm not a teetotaler, Rook. I may as well try it." She mixed the drink, and took a sip. Her eyebrows raised appreciatively. "It's sweet. I like the coffee."

"Oh good," Rook said. Something was off about her face, and he looked at her for a moment before he realized what it was. "You still have greasepaint behind your jaw."

Caveira took a napkin and wiped the white paint away. "Thanks."

"Did you come straight from debriefing?" Rook asked, a small bit of concern creeping into his voice.

"Oh, don't worry about me, I had some sleep on the plane," Caveira said, waving this away. "I just had to come and have one of Charlie's drinks, you know how it is." She raised her White Russian to the bartender, who responded in his usual way. He ignored her.

She took another sip of her drink, and grinned. "I love coffee. You?"

"You're talking to a Frenchman, Taina," Rook chuckled. "We know our coffee better than almost anyone."

"More than a Brazilian?" Caveira asked, with a humurous quirk of her eyebrow. Rook acknowledged the point, and she took another drink. "This really is very good. I wonder what type of coffee liqueur Charlie used."

Rook leaned forward to look at the drink in her hand, and shrugged. "I'm not really sure, I've never ordered one. It certainly smells good."

"Want a taste?" Caveira asked. Rook nodded, and leaned forward to grab the offered drink when she kissed him.

He smelled greasepaint, and tasted the coffee on her breath; there weren't fireworks, and his heart didn't skip a beat, but it was...nice. Very nice. Then, as she sat back, his bruised ribs protested and he winced.

Caveira laughed, a tinkling sound. ""Now there's the reaction every person likes to see when they kiss someone, Julien." She reached over and patted his side gently. "I heard you got hit a few times."

"Ow," Rook said with a smile, as her touch sent at tingle up his entire side.

Caveira finished her drink, and stood up. "I liked that." Rook idly which she was talking about. "See you tomorrow, Rook."

"See you tomorrow, Caveira." Rook watched as she made her way out, one hand propping his chin up.

He looked at Charlie, who, ever so slowly, lowered one eye in a wink. Rook snorted, and winced as this made his ribs protest again. "Quiet, you."

Author's note: I'd like to explain myself a bit here. You may notice that the title here is "A Rook Diaries What-If". You see, I would like my Rook diaries to as closely follow actual lore as possible, at least in its constraints. The problem with this, of course, is there's a few things I can't really put into writing, and one of those is relationships. Shipping in games like Rainbow Six is pretty common, and I could pair up the operators in any which way, but with the parameters I've placed on the Rook Diaries, purely to be supplemental, I'm afraid I can't. Unless I don't make it "canon". Which is funny enough to think about, canon in a fan fiction.

Anyway. This is my solution. This story, and any following stories I label as "What-If", if any at all, aren't really canon to the rest of my Rook Diaries stories. They're merely to explore something either you, the fans of my work, have asked for, or to explore something for my own amusement. If you choose to make it the story you prefer, of course, that's up to you! That's what my work is anyway!

This post may seem like a bit of pandering, but I simply don't mean it to be. Any "What-If" story will be given the same consideration and care as the rest of my work. I hope you enjoy them just the same.

Sincerely, AbsalomQuinn

P.S. Here are some previous stories if you'd like to peruse them at your leisure.

Also, here and here are more humorous entries to the Rook Diaries
