It would promote actually using the Mini and sks for longer ranges instead of just running two m416's with different scopes lol... Also there is no reason the m16 should be unable to equip scopes when the rest of the AR's can, it's completely nonsensical since the m16 is made for medium range engagements and the AKM is ONLY useful short range and can equip one, meanwhile if you have an m416 or a scar you don't need any other gun as long as you have scopes... So just remove it for all assault rifles and let the snipers and DMR's shine where they are supposed to instead of this single/double AR metagame. This one change would do so much for the weapon balance and create more variety overall i feel, players like Viss also want this.

If map select is released, Miramar needs to receive some very important changes or it will die

You might think people will play Miramar, but in places like Australia, I guarantee you would never find a game on that map if map select was released due to the lower player count. In it's current state, it would not be played.

Some very simple quality of life changes are what needs to be added first. We all know them. They're the main complaints you hear about it. So first off what needs to happen is

 

  • Increased vehicle spawn rate (You've seen it, vast stretches of road and not a single vehicle in sight. Largest map in the game and no vehicles.)

  • Increased 4x/8x drop rate (looting an entire town, killing a squad, looting a crate and more towns and not finding a 4x/8x on a map that is all about long range fights the majority of the time is just stupid)

  • Changes to the circle speed. Maybe even map specific. There is a lot of dead time on Miramar. Waiting 10 minutes to see a fight is simply boring. (If the circle speed is as fast as it got on Savage, then it would probably be beneficial to Miramar).

  • (For both Erangel/Miramar) An increased quality of loot distribution. If what we saw on Savage goes over to live, people won't feel the need to drop at Hacienda or Pecado to get some decent loot. People will still drop there for the instant action but the need to do it won't be as great. The mid-game won't be as boring due to more people being alive.

  • Just add more cover/objects. Trees, rocks, bushes whatever. There are so many empty mountains, empty stretches, not even a bush or grass. Winning pubg can come down to rng a lot of the time. I feel it's more common on Miramar than erangel. Due to the lack of cover, the circle can just randomly choose to end on that one house out of 10 that were in the previous circle. Now there's no cover leading up to that house and whoever was inside has an extreme advantage. I just don't feel like that sort of situation occurs on Erangel as much.

 

Besides these common quality of life changes. I honestly feel like when Savage is released that Miramar should be taken out of rotation until they fix/add things to it. Give it some time away, change some things about the map so when it's re-released it seems new and gets people to play it again.

The 2-gun meta is getting really old.

Yes, you can get kills with other weapons. Yes, some people are more comfortable spraying with the scar or spamming with sks + extended mag.

But these two weapons give you a measurable edge over everyone who doesn't have them, and it's been this way since 1.0. Tune into any tournament or high level stream and chances are they are all running m4+k98.

Every game has a meta as the community gradually determines the optimum strategies, but at least in other games it changes. In other games, there is a shifting meta that requires you to learn new characters/abilities/strategies and adapt. Here we are months later, mini is still complete garbage, m16 is outclassed by every other AR, and m4 with an 8x is still an excellent sniper rifle. You could have been in a coma for a few months, wake up and just use the same strategies you used before.

tl;dr change weapon balance, the 2 gun meta is really stale

aaaaand there is no way to get up to the mainland if you swim into the circle. Died in the water, got second place. That was horrible. Is there any possibility to make at least a few edges lower and flatter so players can get up there?

[Unpopular opinion] The progress this game went through is actually impressive.

Hey there folks, just a few thoughts of mine.

So everytime I see people complaining about this and that, I'd really suggest to take a look at the game looked and felt one year ago. It played legitemately like sh*t.

So, I'm usually the first one to criticize Bluehole for their slow work and that the game still doesn't run wonderfully in every situation. But you have to admit, that the game is running better than ever. Compared to what we got in EA it's a different game.

Of course critizism is always needed, but it doesn't feel like they're about to stop improving. I'm optimistic that the game will become even better. Seeing updates, no matter how small they are, still makes me happy like a little child.

And regarding the weapon crates, buying ingame stuff is actually a weak spot of mine, but Bluehole did a great job making the skins as ugly as possible, so I'm fine with that. Doesn't bother me at all.

The only thing I'd really suggest would be modding support. Let people make maps, modes, etc. They're not doing themselves a favor with that, this kind of sucks.

Gun Overhaul

Now that Bluehole is all over this subreddit, I feel like we should wrap up our suggestions for gun changes. There's been a lot of great suggestions lately and this is some of it:

SNIPER Kar98k - -10% Reload speed (There's a reason to why pros chooses ARs over Kar98s) SKS/Mini14 - -10% Vertical recoil Winchester - Alter the V-shape of the ironsight to make it easier to shoot at moving targets

AR No ARs should be able to take 8x/15x-scopes!

5.56 M4 - +10% Vertical and +5% horizontal recoil. That way it will be an allrounder that shines with it's attachments from short-medium range. Scar-L - Make the ironsight thinner! The Scar has more body impact power and makes less sound than the M4. With the nerf to M4 it should have better hor. recoil as well. It should be easier to control, but will shoot a little bit slower than the M4. M16 - It should be the simple 5.56 AR which could be used at medium+ ranges. Not as good as the Mini14, but a decent replacement. Does it need buffs when the M4 is nerfed? AUG - Make it spawn with a suppressor or reduce the reload speed slightly to make it a lot better than the M4.

7.62 Fal FN - I would guess this could be like the M16, heavy hitter of the 7.62 ARs. A nice AR version of the Mk14 (obv. not as good for sniping). This should be a world spawn! AKM - -10% Horizontal recoil and -5% vertical recoil. It should be the simple 7.62 AR that is perfect for short to medium range.

SMG They should hit harder than they do right now, but make the dmg dropoff huge at medium to long range. UMP - +4 Base dmg. It should be the allround SMG. Vector - +1 Base dmg. Not sure about this, but it should outperform ARs in CQC when its fully kitted. UZI - Make the ironsight thinner. Tommy Gun - +1 Base dmg. Maybe a better ironsight or support for red dots/holo's?

SHOTGUN An overhaul would be nice. Maybe reduce the spray a little bit, so the choke makes it a badass short range option?

PISTOL I think they're fine as they are, but they could maybe be drawn even faster to make them your last option in a fight. Should the revolver hit a little bit harder?

That's my take on this hot topic (I hope this isn't considered as spam because it should be easier for the devs to see our conserns regarding weapon balance atm). Feel free to add to this list!
