A thank you to Perfect World

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 06:16 AM PDT

Another event completed. The broadcast side of it, because the story of it is not over and will evolve and change into something else and give birth to other baby-narratives like the story of a SEA team finally winning a major.

What we wanted to write today at the end of this particular event is about our gratitude to our partner Perfect World. Last year when we first handled the Dota 2 Asia Championships, it was a first for us, working on an event in China. But upon our return a year later, we knew we weren't just coming here to "work". We were meeting up with old friends.

Their dedication to esports and to putting on a good show is something that we not only admire but try to reflect in what we do. It isn't always easy with all the moving parts that usually go into events (especially esports events). There's some master level juggling that needs to happen. You need a trustworthy partner by your side, somebody that wants to achieve the impossible. Like say, a Roshan coming to life on a stage in China.

We sing another of praise to our talent line-up, our funny, fearless and savage storytellers, led by Redeye. We believe in the Orakyle and we ship LaCox.

We now look forward to our next big adventure in China: The China Dota2 Supermajor (June 3-10), the final Major of the Dota Pro Circuit. This is only the beginning of what we want to achieve in China with Perfect World. Look out for more events in Asia from PGL in the near future.

And what we will achieve is mainly because of you and for you, the community. So thank you!

DPC Ranking - DAC 2018, 7th April 2018

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 05:08 AM PDT

Rank Team Points Rank difference
1 Virtus.pro [Q] 7875 (+675) =
2 Team Liquid 4736.25 =
3 Team Secret 4710 =
4 Mineski 3150 (+2250) +5
5 Newbee 2220 -1
6 Vici Gaming 2160 -1
7 LGD Gaming 1822.5 (+1350) +4
8 VGJ.Thunder 1665 -2
9 Evil Geniuses 1335 -2
10 Natus Vincere 1200 -2
11 Fnatic 885 -1
12 TNC Predator 495 (+225) =
13 Immortals 90 =
13 Team Kinguin 90 =
15 Echo International 30 =
DQ OG 630 -
DQ LGD.Forever Young 200 -
DQ compLexity Gaming 135 -
  • Mineski come into DAC with a perfect form and they grab the title. They not only get back to top 8, but now they sit comfortably at 4th.

  • LGD also show up, gaining huge 1350 points and a ticket to top 8.

  • Virtus.pro are denied their back to back to back major hat-trick. They get some more points, effectively only to reduce the required amount for other teams.

  • TNC Predator grab 225 points as well, inching ever so closer to their opponents. The road to top 8 for them is still long.

  • This tournament marks the end of the top 4 streak for Team Liquid as they place 5-6th. 13 tournaments in a row, with 8 first places including a TI.

  • The results here are damning for Evil Geniuses. They're in trouble. The grand finalists were two teams below them in the rankings who have now ascended to top 8, pushing EG out. To add to that, EG is going to have limited opportunities to get points considering they're only participating in ESL One Birmingham and possibly the SuperMajor (details of that tournament unknown yet). Tournament overview for context

  • Na'vi also finally move out of top 8. This almost certainly ends their TI invite dream, unless they pick themselves up.

  • The amount of points required for a guaranteed TI invite is now equal to 5481.

Next tournament in the DPC is StarLadder ImbaTV Invitational Season 5, an 8 team 300 point minor. 11th-15th April, 2018. Featuring:

Rank Team Qualifier
7 LGD Gaming CN
8 VGJ.Thunder Invite
10 Natus Vincere Invite
11 Fnatic SEA
13 Team Kinguin EU
- OpTic Gaming NA
- FlyToMoon CIS
-* SG e-sports SA
  • LGD Gaming will be looking to continue their good form. If they win, they'll overtake both Newbee and Vici Gaming and take 5th.

  • VGJ.Thunder on the other hand haven't really been that great. They're not even close to being comfortable within top 8, therefore they really need to gain points here.

  • Fnatic continue the chase. They can't get to top 8 even if they win, but they'll take all the points they can get.

  • SG e-sports will be getting reduced points due to playing with a standin.

Chinese Dota player react about DAC final

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 09:24 AM PDT

I saw someone want to know about how Chinese player react about DAC final. I really want to share some fun facts with you guys.

First of all, we never shittalk about our opponent. Well, even the famous EZ story, we just enjoy seeing Sumail got beaten by our team - because we know anger is nothing but winning is everything in this dead game.

Secondly, we will always shittalk about our China team. Like 11 plays like shit yesterday, even he become a hot research in Weibo ( Chinese twitter ) and we are doing tons of shittalk. But he did so fucking amazing for the Rift, we will also give our greatest "shittalk" to blow him high. That is Chinese Dota, just like a football game. ( We do have fans so believe we have some unknown power to change the game - if we watch the game the China will lose, so we decide not to )

We angry because most of the time, our players do not pull their best in the game, always trying to play safe and this is no Dota. We love Wings because their style is telling the world - Chinese Dota can be that way.

I believe in China we have so many issues ( e.g ACE ), to pull all the potentials in our players, that's also why we are so hard to the Pros. LOL uses awful marketing strategy to take over the market, and in DOTA, winning is the only pride we have ( 3 1st and 4 2nd in TI ).

Anyway, give my greatest congratulation to MNK, last time China got beaten by SEA is in TI3. I remember so well that Orange almost killed Navi that time ( best Ti ever ). SEA is a super strong region, because they have enough players who really enjoy the game.

Let's meet in Canada this year -CN DOTA, Best DOTA.

Very disappointing how they show zero respect towards Mineski. I get that they support their home's team but show some god damn normal sportsmanship. At least on other tournaments people stick around and acknowledge the defeat, have some fucking honour

PGL actually listens! They posted highlights without music and with casters voices at their youtube channel.

Posted: 06 Apr 2018 12:03 PM PDT

Yesterday there were a lot of threads about substitution for noobfromua highlights and orginally PGL highlights were not good enough. But highlights for today matches are 10+ mins and without stupid music and with couple secs before and after action moments starts and with clear understanding which team is won. The only thing is missing is final stats table.

Surprised nobody mentioned that after so many complaints and demands for official alternative for NFUA highlights.

Thanks PGL and i hope other organizers will follow their example. Link:
