Competitive Play: players who are good sports and never quit matches should be rewarded by being paired with other good sports.

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 02:00 PM PDT

Half the games I lose are because of players giving up early and it's exhausting. If they want to give up early they should play with players like them and not punish us.

Edit: I realize saying "half" is bratty and an exaggeration. But the point is is that those are the loses I remember the most and they stick in my brain. I concede that it feels like it happens more than it actually does. But it still happens too often! Everyone's gotta agree it's the worst!

Unpopular Opinion: The popularity of Lucio's rollouts is giving us a lot of bad team players.

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 06:39 AM PDT

And I think changes will only make it worse because of the accesibility. (Note: I actually like the changes, just not the by product.)

Its seems a fairly common occurence to me these days on KotH maps: The doors opens, Lucio leaps for a solid surface and quickly out paces his team mates so they no longer get his speed aura.

FFS Lucio players, keep your feet in the ground for that first push. You won't do shit up there on point without your tanks and DPS.

Can we sticky Patch Notes/PTR Patch notes?

Please delete this if there is a reason this isn't a thing. It would be nice to make sure the latest changes are easily accessible. I think there was a PTR update but I have no idea what's on it, can't access the game/forums right now either.

Dear Blizzard, thank you for listening to feedback on Lucio. I was surprised and impressed.

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 07:41 AM PDT

Blizzard has reverted the speed nerfs on Lucio to the way they were, just as everyone asked. There were a lot of very vocal posts complaining about the changes initially, and a lot of people felt hopeless (myself included).

Initially I felt that the changes were terrible, and it frustrated me. I felt that blizzard was changing heroes that didn't need to be changed, and given the history of the PTR-Live transition, I didn't think they would go back on it. It appears that they listen to feedback and are willing to be flexible with us, which is very encouraging to see from a game company.

THANK YOU Blizzard. If you can see my complaints I hope you also see my gratitude.

Now if you could only just let me get that new reaper skin...

A not-so-brief discussion on everyone's [least] favorite support hero, Brigitte, as we approach Season 10 of Competitive.

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 07:26 AM PDT

With mere days before Brigitte is introduced to Competitive, I'm still seeing complaints (in-game and elsewhere) about the OP nature of her kit. The truth of the matter is that this is not the case at all. She is extremely squishy and easy to drop. You just have to know and accept how to do it.

So as a devout follower of the Church of Baguette, here's a list of everything that Bridget lovers don't want you to know, and some other things to keep in mind.

  1. She has plenty of counter heroes, some even easier to play than she.

    • Junkrats and Pharahs are going to have the easiest time wrecking her day. The AOE and bouncy nature of their explosive projectiles mixed with the fact that her shield lacks girth in exchange for height means she's going to have a hard time swinging around to block every round. And even if she takes these hits directly to her shield, it's only a matter of time before it breaks, rendering her Shield Bash useless and her adorable little freckled face vulnerable to attack.
    • Moira and Symmetra, for the most part, don't give a shit about her shield. Plant those turrets, launch those Biotic Orbs, and then Grasp and Photon away her strength as she frantically swings her view around attempting, in vain, to address the threats surrounding her.
    • Zenyatta can drastically reduce the time it takes to drop Brigitte by planting a Discord orb on her, without ever having to engage directly. Zen mains are often the shot callers for their team, so be sure to call out when Brigitte has been further squishified.
    • Torbjorn and Bastion are shield destroyers. It amazes me, with Brigitte, Rein, and Orisa alike, that people see this big red shield moving in their direction, and their first reaction is to turn the other way. No, dude, melt that shit. The faster you destroy ANY shield, the longer the cooldown for that character to build it back up and the faster you can pop off some hit-scanned headshots to drop your target. Take away their wall and swarm. These two excel at shield crushing.
    • Widowmaker and Hanzo, while requiring more skill, are able to harass her from a distance. Even with Scatter Arrow being taken away, a good sniper can pick the perfect moment to one-shot Brigitte as she surveys her immediate vicinity for targets and people to heal. She's not looking for y'all. She's looking for someone to Shield Bash. Use this. If you're not a good sniper, I'm sure your team will be more than happy to politely let you know this. "Hanzo/Widow, switch pls..."
    • Doomfist and Reaper are a little more high risk, high reward, but can absolutely devastate Brigitte in the hands of a skilled DPS. If she happens to be threat priority #1 in your match, watch for her to use her Shield Bash and then descend upon her in a rain of metal knuckles and buckshot. Reaper and his passive regen may not outlast her and her passive regen in a straight 1 v 1, but luckily, 1 v 1 is rarely an issue when you're in a proper team composition.
    • Brigitte is a great counter to herself. What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? Well, if the unstoppable force has more friends nearby, it can crash right through that immovable object. Tell your team to, literally, Rally to you (seriously, it's right there in her voiceline), stay close and duke it out in a balls-to-the-wall knockdown, drag-out brawl. May the best Super Saiyan Bageta win. Edit 1: Thanks to /u/seeshark for pointing out that the Brigitte vs. Brigitte matchup probably isn't best considered a "good counter." So instead of removing it, I'll correct my original statement to say that Brigitte vs. Brigitte is the best matchup to get lost and disoriented in a flurry of particle effects and yellow plus signs.
  2. Melt. Her. Shield.

    • I cannot stress this enough. As mentioned above, a shield hero without a shield is a free elimination. And in Brigitte's case, it takes away her most "broken" ability, Shield Bash. It amazes me how many people will try to flank a shield as a non-flanking hero as opposed to just destroying it and forcing a longer cooldown. Communicate with your team and insist they focus their efforts on shields as they pop up, Brigitte's or otherwise. Once that shield is down, go ham.
  3. Adjust

    • What do you do when the enemy team composition is bulldozing you over and over? Keep playing the same hero and try again and again, right? Because you've got 300 hours with Tracer and Gengu and you should be able to get the drop on that one problem character at least once, right? No, dude, swallow your pride, hop on Junkfuck for a minute or two, and force them to counter you. It's one of the staples of this game, and it's why you can switch your character on the fly during a match. Y'all have done it since the game first came out. Yet when it comes to Brigitte, people seem to conveniently forget they can do this.
    • One-tricks who refuse to adjust are particularly susceptible to Brigitte frustration. Don't one-trick...
    • Brigitte is a clutch do-or-die hero, but only if the enemy doesn't adjust. I've literally played Zen, Lucio, or Moira for an entire match and been steamrolled to the last capture point or payload destination, and then turned it around at the last second as Brigitte, winning what seemed like an unwinnable game with 8 minutes left to defend. But only because the enemy team did not adjust. And at the end of the match, all the expected hate comes rolling through Match Chat: "When in doubt, go with the broken bitch, right?" "You only won because you used Brigitte." "I can't wait until they nerf her into the ground..." Never mind the fact that you had 8 minutes to STOP smashing your head into a brick wall with the same characters over and over again. Never mind the fact that after a while you got frustrated and began the dreaded trickle, allowing me to Shield Bash you and let my team pick you off one and two at a time. Never mind any of that, because Brigitte is clearly busted af. Clearly...
  4. Remember, whether you can admit it or not, we asked for this.

    • For quite a while now, people have complained about the Dive Comp Meta. Love it or hate it, it's been around for a very long time, and even on Blizzard's official forums, Jeff said himself that he can't wait to see how Brigitte shakes up the meta. Enough people complained that Jeff and his team listened and responded. Whether you embrace our new Support character or not, this is what we as a collective asked for. A new meta is sure to either rise to take Dive's place or become some sick, twisted evolution of Dive itself. Time will tell.
  5. She's new. Give it time.

    • I haven't been around for as long as most of you, so I don't know if she's the most controversial new hero ever introduced or if this is just par-for-the-new-character-course. But what I do know is that Blizzard and Papa Jeff listen. In PTR, they've already reduced Brigitte's Shield Bash cone of effect from 90 down to 60, forcing Brigitte memes to actually be more accurate and careful with that cooldown. Not sure when that's going live, but it's a reassuring fact for Brigitte haters that Blizz knows she, and many characters for that matter, are always up for some fine tuning. Characters from the game's earliest days are still being adjusted. She will too. Give it time.

And that's it. I may have just given myself and other Boogertes a harder time in Season 10, but whatever. If this helps even one person enjoy the game more, I'll take it as a win. Even with all this being said, as much as I enjoy her, she does need some light adjustment, but hardcore nerfs are not necessary, in my honest opinion. Maybe slightly longer cooldowns for Shield Bash and Rocket Flail and a slight decrease in her Rocket Flail range would help, but I do not believe she is straight up broken.

I hope you all have a great last day of Season 9 and best of luck to us all in Season 10!
