Is Undying as a duo offlane good right now? And what heroes should be picked alongside it?

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 06:30 PM PDT

I 'm starting to play alot of Undying offlane first pick. It's really strong even against trilanes but I don't know what heroes is good with it to tell my teammates to pick. And when I duo offlane, sometimes our safelaner gets wrecked because I rarely get people who pick good lane supports (people pick shit like kunkka support and try to harass out their offlaner). And so I want to know what hero they should pick so I can tell them, so that they can solo without problems. Thanks

Having some recent success with lesh mid, would like some input on a few things

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 02:59 PM PDT

  1. Q or e lvl 1? Before lesh got good in 7.12 I watched some high mmr lesh mid players and they always got q lvl 1 and made sure to secure the enemy ranged creep with it. With lightning being more spammable, and it being comparable damage if you throw in an auto attack, it might be worth. Thoughts?

  2. Item build? Currently arcanes, raindrop, wand, euls, bloodstone. Roughly 12 minute euls with a 19-23 minute bloodstone depending on how many kills I'm getting. I've heard a lot of people saying bloodstone is bad in general.

  3. Should I level edict in lane? Most of the time mids don't gank or leave lane very much so I feel like edict might be a wasted point.

How to position / initiate fights as Sniper?

How to position / initiate fights as Sniper?

In my last 10+ sniper games I destroyed mid which obviously makes me a huge target. I buy observer and sentry wards for my self so its usually difficult for enemies to shut me down when I max my range first while keeping the creepwave up my hill.

My first item after ring of aquila and power treads is mjollnir since I find it hard to justify 1900 gold for dragon lance. I don't feel like I should even be fighting before that point and dragon lance is completely useless for farm. Once you have mjollnir then you can farm a dragon lance insanely fast if you feel you need it.

I don't really ever feel dragon lance's range is going to save me in fights though. Combined with Sniper's fragility and my lead I am always the target for the entire enemy team every single fight. I have even tried going mjollnir straight into heart and still died.

My team just always goes into fights without thinking of how their iniation effects me so usually its pretty easy to target the backline where I am at. If I try to stay closer to them then I am easy to target from the front line so I feel like there is no position that is ever safe to fight.

I am thinking I need to really shift the way I go into fights so its hard to initiate on me. Maybe I need to get a shadow blade then go invisible before fights so that they can't position themselves to target me in the backline. Once all of the dangerous enemies have iniated onto my team mates then start the fight. I imagine that would make surviving easier but then my team will likely be close to dead by the time I even fire a single shot.

Agility carries: BF or Maelstorm.

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 07:52 AM PDT

Hi all,

Quick question, with the current nerfs to BF and the buffs to Mael is it worth purchasing Mael over bf in heroes like jugg?

What are your favourite current unorthodox builds?

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 10:55 AM PDT

I get bored of normal builds quite easily and when playing with friends I often go mid Dazzleator or support Wraith King. Does anyone have some fun builds I can try out and make my friends rage about?

Does Vlads need a buff?

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 07:53 PM PDT

Vlads offering hasn't been picked up in a pro game in a very long time (that I've seen). Does it need a buff?

Also I've been hearing some of the commentators saying that compared to Helm and Drums it is very bad. This is also shown by the ridiculous number of Helms that have been popping up in pro matches recently.

I feel a damage aura increase to 20% (instead of 15%) with a +4 stats (instead of +2 stats) would probably make it playable.

What do you guys think?

(All comments and opinions are welcome) 🙂

How do you play around Chronosphere AOE talent?

Posted: 28 Apr 2018 11:55 PM PDT

I keep losing games because I end up throwing a 10k+ networth advantage to a level 25 void. I don't know what to do for my team when they just get caught in a chronosphere the size of my screen. What items should someone in any position pick up to try and work around this?

How to start playing the offlane in 1k.

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 06:54 AM PDT

Hi,

I'm a 1k player and I almost exclusively play position 4 or 5. However I have always kind of wanted to play cores but I'm a team player and support is definitely fun in its own way. Anyway I want to learn how to play the offlane to marry having items and being a team player. However in my bracket there are two types of players: hard carries and the support (usually me). So how do I learn to play offlaners when I usually just be supporting the 4 hard carry in the offlane.

Thanks.

Question about multishot talent

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 11:41 AM PDT

Hi!

Does multishot prioritize heroes? Someone told me it does but I'm having difficulty verifying it, maybe I'm just blind haha. Thinking specifically about PA. Thanks!

Help with Zeus itemization and talents.

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 02:25 AM PDT

Hey,

Im a Zeus mid spammer. I tend to start with asking for 2 tangos. Get myself a branch, circlet, and two mantles (the +3 int). So that I would have some right click potential. Fast bottle into two nulls, mana boots and... I get stuck... Should I go veil and when? This is around 10 lvl so should I go xp talent or armor and when? I tend to go veil and armor when they have more right-click potential. But whats the next move? Dissassemble mana boots into aether? Or the infamous Kaya? Also euls is an option due to some defensive potential. Next step is lvl 15 talent which for me was always move speed. Even after the passive buff... Dunno why really. At this point I want all the items and am running out of space So i grab BoTs to merge boots and tp into one item slot, sell the bottle and get an Aghs. At this point im asking myself why I still dont have a blink dagger so I que it... But then I also realise that all this arc spamming is leaving me without mana so maybe octarine would be nice for sustain plus it works nice with lvl 20 talent cd reduction, but I like the ministun soo much also. So i check enemy items and think if I can escape with what I have or should I nuke more. I never have enough gold to think about refresher anyway... Lvl 25 is here. Hmmm... Does the enemy team have illusion based heroes? Yes = arc dmg, No = range. At what time selling veil is considerd a good move?

tl;dr This game is so fucking amazing and convoluded its impossible to have one cookie cutter build but let me know how you guys do it.

Maelstrom changes for Ember Spirit (Magic build) vs Radiance first

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 07:10 AM PDT

The Maelstrom changes make it a more viable choice for Ember Spirit (Magic build) as you don't need the attack speed, and the extra damage to the procs is exactly what you want. Also, the Lightning procs double dip into the True Strike L20 talent since you would pick the 10% Spell Amp. Because of these changes and buffs, how core would Maelstrom be for ES now + would you still go Radiance first or Maelstrom?

Why do people buy 2 or 3 mangoes as starting items

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 09:20 AM PDT

I'm not even talking about the hero being a bonus hero or the player randomed it. I've seen so many high skill games with people just buying 2 mangoes and some tango as their starting items. Especially heroes such as slark and juggernaut, how does 2 mangoes benefit them in lane?

Help me find another offlane hero to spam

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 04:50 AM PDT

Hello guys, I know many people do not like spamming heroes, but I can play only one game of dota per day ,if I am lucky, and spamming lets me improve way faster , while enjoying the climb.

I slowly climbed from the 1k bracket to the still potato 2k bracket spamming mostly Mirana. I'd like to add another hero that has the following features:

1) Being able to carry if my cores are underfarmed. I know that heroes like Tide,Sandking or Underlord are the most suggested , but I think that in my bracket playing an hero like Mirana that can scale and become a carry is the one the main reason of my climb.

2) Being able to gain something versus aggressive lane through escaping mecanism or jungling.

3) Have some utility for the team if another guy come in the offlane stealing my farm\xp

4) Have a high skill ceiling .

I have thought about Beastmaster or Lone Druid, what's your opinion?

Thank you :)

How do you "win" with alchemist?

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 08:30 AM PDT

I've been playing alchemist in turbo (i think its a good place to practice heroes?), and I had a game where i got insane farm. 9 slotted with 47k net worth. But in teamfights I just got stunned and burst down, or kited until my satanic / blademail / ult were off cooldown. Troll did 19k damage to me.
Was I buying the wrong items? This is the overview, https://www.opendota.com/matches/3854764298 but i had the same problem in other alch games.

Tips for Playing a Disruptive Offlane?

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 04:25 AM PDT

I'm a support main who goes offlane if needed. Whenever I play offlane, my biggest problem is dying too many times in hard lanes (2v1 or 3v1 with good enemy compositions). It's not cause I have a very difficult time in the lane, I notice that I'm just on par with the enemy carry levels. I might be a bit behind on farm due to playing safer but I guess since it's the offlane, it's not that big of a problem.

What leads me to dying it's just that I overestimate a lot of engagements, which causes carry and supports to kill me. It does leave the carry and support at low health some times. I've heard that for long as you disrupt the enemy carry's farm, some good came out of my death since gold from kills aren't that big, especially in the early game. Note that this isn't me dying trying to bring the creep equilibrium closer, but me dying at around 5 min, thinking I could manfight 2 or even 3v1.

So, tl;dr, 1.) when is multiple deaths (3-4) worth it on the offlane?

2.) How do I play a disruptive offlaner? Offlaners I play constantly are: Sand King, Centaur, Bristleback, Slardar and Underlord

Position 5 Wraithking?

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 08:07 AM PDT

Spoiler alert:- I'm not asking about one of my games, I'm just curious about Puppeys choice of WK as a pos 5 in game 1 against VP at Epicentre.

I'm sure there was a theory behind their draft in general, but I don't see what it was, particularly the WK pick. The only thing he can really offer as a pos 5 is a semi-decent, low cooldown stun and some subpar tower pushing. But there are plenty of more traditional supports that offer better alternatives (like shadow shaman for example).

Is there something that I'm missing, or was it just Secret having a bit of fun with their draft?

Quick bar colors question

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 07:52 AM PDT

I tend to lose track of my hero during big fights. I need a clear colors difference between me and my teammates. Color blind mode doesn't accomplish that, and the standard mode either: yellow/green'ish vs light green isn't what I'd call a clear difference.

From what I google'd, you used to be able to edit some file to get whatever result you yanted (i.e pink) but you can't anymore. Is that right ? Is there no work around ?
