How many days it would take to gain 1000 mmr at 1% difference in winrates, 51 and 52% respectively (Please check not confident with my maths).

My thoughts on the "cookie challenges"

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 05:18 PM PDT

for many lower skilled players, practicing in an empty lobby will probably be useful. the first step to farming quickly is being able to take farm that is right in front of you, and the second is having a good plan to rotate around your immediate surroundings.

but there are limits, and I think there are people taking them to silly extremes.

I tried the 10 min Meepo one and found myself doing things that were pretty unrealistic for a real game, which could eventually lead to bad habits. and the higher CS you want, the more stupid things you do.

drills are just that: drills. I think that when you start forsaking the intent of an exercise for the result, you're just screwing yourself. it's important to remember why you're doing something in the first place.

Teaching how to kill & not get killed on stream today

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 12:26 AM PDT

So, since i've seen most low players are simply incapable of this aspect, i might as well teach it today

we can also do viwer replay analysis afterwards, but remember to just put in the replay id, tell who you were and what you want me to look at, saying ''why did i lose the game'' will just make me give you the laziest replay analysis possible.

Anyways, teaching how to kill and not get killed is not easy, the explanation will probably last a couple hours, it is not an easy thing to do at a competent level, as i'll show every individual method i used over the years.

The vod will be up, so i'll post it here after im done.

i already started, i'll put the time of the vod when i start with it.

edit: stream going good, we went from like 5 viewers to 32, so seems like people liek it

edit: explanation n stuff over, https://www.twitch.tv/videos/249430834

it's between the 1 to 4 hour mark, all of it.

edit: I'll upload it to youtube so the vod doesn't get deleted in a week or something, i'll post link once it's up.

What i explained in those 3ish hours is basically literally everything i know about how to get kills and how to stay alive, if you were to do the same work as i described in here you'd be getting 20/0 scores for the next 50 games.

edit: video's up

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDSndbWBe50

again between 1 and 4 hours, all of that.

edit: though, 1 part does break my heart, 30-35 viewers stream and i got 5 followers in 6 hours of streaming :c

P.s Yes these 3 hours are basically a summary, you still have to do all the calculations and analysis yourself, if i cut no corners and did all of that analysis(powerspikes, hero comparisons and gameplans) then these 3 hours would've actually been 10-20 hours long.

Listening to high level communication in game is extremely helpful.

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 09:35 AM PDT

Bulldog, gorgc, and crew are playing in a tourny right now. Just listening to their team communication and talking about what to do when certain heroes hit power spikes is insanely insightful. If you have time to listen, highly recommend: https://www.twitch.tv/gorgc

How did we lose this game? I was the Juggernaut.

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 03:50 PM PDT

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3829735796

I play a lot of party games at night with friends and lately they've not been going well. Here are the two situations we've been experiencing:

1) We lose all lanes or lose 2/3 lanes and the enemy team is just taking objectives while we are watching because we can't initiate as we know it will go bad.

2) We win all lanes or 2/3 lanes and take all the outer towers, but aren't able to push highground even after taking Rosh multiple times.

I played my heart out this game(Juggernaut) and we still lost. Really looking into why so our party games are enjoyable again. :)

My road to improvement (questions)

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 03:27 PM PDT

I've decided to take Dota semi-seriously to stop being a random shitter and have been training at the game aiming to improve, there are two main questions that I'm looking to be answered

Dotabuff: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/322474716

Improvement board (updated before a days games, during and after): https://imgur.com/gallery/A2lNQ

One of my questions is whether the heroes that I'm playing will stop me from learning to play in certain situations ie; with visage I will never learn to play from behind if all goes to plan. I was wondering wether sticking with the arc warden and visage spam is worth it over picking based on the game.

I was also looking for general thoughts on how I can improve as a player in terms of my speed of actions, my farming speed, my pushing speed, just how efficient I can be, I've already set up camera hot let's and am now looking for further advice on how to keep the raising of mmr going.

Dropped ~700 mmr in last couple months, no ending in sight

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 08:59 AM PDT

I really do not know how I'm losing. I don't tilt but it feels like I lose the Team Lottery every single game. Could someone look at my replays and give some suggestions? It's putting me in a bad mood I'm general. I just want to win! Help please :)

[Learning how to carry at Divine 0] Lifestealer itemization

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 08:38 AM PDT

Recently, I found playing Lifestealer really fun in my matches. As of right now, I see two general builds for Lifestealer (either Radiance or Armlet build).

I generally go Radiance if I feel that the enemy lineup would not let me armlet toggle with constant strong DPS. I would like to ask what are the (other) possible factors that might decide on whether it is a good Radiance or Armlet game.

Thank you for your time.

Super new to DOTA2 - Starting as support - need some picks suggestion (criteria inside)

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 01:31 PM PDT

So basically:

I have "meh" mechanics in general. Last hitting feels super hard to me, although I just started. But doubt I'll ever be GOOD at it. Hence me going support.

I do however usually have good map awareness, game senses etc. My brain is basically better than my fingers. What are my (when I'll get there) low MMR solo queue supports of choice ?

Seems like Lich would be a good pick for me, but need a couple more options for obvious reasons. Thoughts appreciated !

League of Legends' Pantheon player looking for champion in DotA 2

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 01:13 PM PDT

Hello. I play LoL and I'm starting to play DotA 2.

In LoL I love to play Pantheon. His gameplay is basically this: dominate lane with a powerful early and simple kit and then use a global ultimate to roam and transfer the lead acquired. He falls off late game.

Do you guys know what champion might suit this playstyle in DotA 2?

Dealing with jugg in lane

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 12:56 PM PDT

Today I played against a solo juggernaut as underlord. I get him down to low health every time, he uses his healing ward and puts it behind him to get back to full health in 5 seconds. If he doesn't feel like trying to deal with me he just uses his free bkb ability and insta kills the wave, preventing me from denying it. Every time I try to kill him he just runs away with his 500 move speed and phase boots, he has seemingly infinite mana and was able to cast Q on every single wave while farming jungle too. How in the hell am I supposed to do anything about this? Putting 2 in the lane wouldn't really do anything, if he wants to get farm he can just walk into the wave, Q, then run back out when he kills it. 60% of the time in my team, there's no hero that stuns through BKB so we can't do shit to his spintp meme.

When to jungle versus when to pressure tower as SF?

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 08:53 AM PDT

I've been playing a lot of SF recently, and I've been having a lot of trouble with deciding when I should pressure tower after nuking down a wave versus when I should just go into jungle and farm creeps there. When do you know you should do one or the other, and why? Are there certain things that need to happen before you do one or the other, and if so, what are they?

Thanks in advance

Tips for a new Bristleback enthusiast.

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 08:49 AM PDT

Howdy, not new to mobas but new to dota 2. Played <25 matchmade games, mostly all pick.

I have oodles and oodles to learn and practice, but does anyone have some general tips for a newer player with Bristleback? Tried several heroes and I enjoy his playstyle by far the most.

Some general questions:
Best role/lane and why?
Counters to BB and why?
Often overlooked items that are good on him? (most of the items I see recommended for him seem pretty obvious why they are good on him.)
Interesting interactions he has with other heroes/items?
Synergy with other heroes?
Pros or one tricks to watch?

Any advice is appreciated.

How to play Meepo vs SF?

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 02:56 AM PDT

This matchup seems impossible unless the enemy is severely lower skill than you. The second SF hits 3 you cannot lane anymore he will just deny every creep and raze you when you walk up. What are you supposed to do in this matchup? Seems like the only choice is to jungle but then you get severely outleveled. The worst part is the SF counterpicked me with his last pick.

why do some boosters prefer safelane over midlane?

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 09:44 AM PDT

i would imagine that playing something like terrorblade with idiot 3k-4k supports against counterpicks like lc would be a bit frustrating compared to the 'solo' experience of midlane? maybe i'm biased since my midlane is drastically better than my safelane carry.. but i'm very curious.

Is there actually any point in playing support in low-skilled games (Crusader)?

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 08:05 AM PDT

TL;DR: See post title.

Hi all,

A friend of mine, top 100 SEA, has been giving me some coaching on support and roaming (I've learnt A LOT from him), and yet he has told me not to bother supporting in solo ranked. I'm beginning to understand why.

This happens in so, so many of my ranked games. I just finished this one: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3829112052 as CM. We had a great start and had the superior draft, pushed towers and got the first rax. I stacked camps and warded, as did SS. We got lots of pick-offs in their jungle and took objectives, then things went south. Three of them decided to push high ground alone without waiting for the team (or taking Rosh) and died. We decided to take Rosh and I told them to wait for me to get my smoke on the courier so we could do it properly and they just ran in and didn't have the common sense to back out when Invoker scouted us with sun strike. Numerous times they ran into fights where we didn't have vision, where again I tried to suggest smoking up so we could wrap around and initiate properly. I could chain root targets and in theory we shouldn't have had an issue killing any of them. We had all the tools.

I have no idea what CK was doing the whole game - he had a free lane, didn't get ganked and I maintained equilibrium for him, plus got a few kills on Timber. He had no farm, and he and Ember chased enemies halfway across the map constantly, usually leading to their deaths.

This isn't an isolated example - this happens all the time in my support games: excellent start, then crumble. It doesn't matter how much you attempt to communicate with your team (and they spoke English just fine) if nobody is willing to coordinate. As a CM, there's little I can do by myself. I picked CM because we had a Zeus and I still think she was a good pick, and with the SS we had a great support duo. There are things I could have done differently and better, but for the most part in this game I did everything I could. It doesn't matter how much vision you put out, how many glimmer cape saves you get (especially considering they had no vision the entire game - really annoying when you glimmer someone and they continue to fight, breaking the invis), how many times you counter initiate or save everyone's arses by disabling their team with Atos, Euls and frostbite.

Now, I know I'm not a great player. I make plenty of mistakes and I know I have a problem with impatience sometimes (I just watched a replay of a Lich game I played, which we won, but my chain frosts were awful), but I feel like I try and do all the right things. It seems to be extremely difficult to play a proper support in solo queue at low mmr. It may be that this is simply my level and I've maxed out here, but I want to get to Archon, and I rarely lose when I play mid (which is what I play when I'm with my friends). I don't want to be that guy that auto-picks mid or hard carry (I don't like playing hard carry - it's not my role) - I actually like playing support - but I'm genuinely wondering if, as the title of this topic is, whether there really is any point in playing support in low-skill games. I might as well pick another core even if it's a stupid draft.

What do others think?

Anyway to sort by losing games on dota buff?

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 08:02 AM PDT

I always found watching high level pub replays to be very educational. I usually look on dota buff (under the guides section) for the hero in question but I noticed they all tend to be stomps. I am trying to analyse how certain heros play in high MMR when their lane get crushed and how to play from behind. Is there a way on dotabuff or other sites for me to find replays like that?

Is there a setting for quick turns?

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 08:00 AM PDT

Like quickcast, is there a setting that would turn your player in the direction of mouse pointer without clicking. That would be helpful for sf players.
