Hearthstone - PullsDay Thursday: Post Your Popped Packs

PullsDay Thursday: Post Your Popped Packs

Posted: 25 Apr 2018 05:11 PM PDT

Greetings Travellers,

This is a new weekly thread to showcase your crazy or unlucky pack openings, for F2P players and whales alike!

The goal of this thread is to draw discussion around pack openings into a centralized post every week, so that players have a dedicated place to share their pulls. Whether you got a sweet Tavern Brawl reward or Arena chest, we want to see it! You can also post in /r/HSPulls.

Pack Openings are still relegated to a megathread on the first day of a new expansion

Note: I am a bot. Questions or feedback regarding this thread? Message the moderators.

Just made it to legend for the first time, and...

I never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever want to do that again. You people who do it every month have my respect and confusion. I'm going to go outside now, I forgot what the sun looks like.

I love this tavern brawl. As a free player it's really the only way I can experience multiple classes outside of dungeon run and it's made the game much more entertaining.

This is just a good job note I guess. As f2p when I started playing I basically had to pick a class to play. I chose Shaman. I love Shaman, but the past few months have not been easy on us. Since I can't afford to buy packs I'm pretty much stuck playing the best Shaman decks on ladder and when I get new cards a lot of the time I have to dust them to complete a deck. So I believe that the reward system should be better for dedicated players who can't spend money. That being said, I've had a blast playing all the new deck recipes and checking out other classes. If my vote matters I vote for more brawls like this in the future.

Distribution of which sets most played cards are from

I have seen several posts recently of players asking "which set should I buy cards from". To try to visualize what sets people are playing with most I took the most played deck from each class as of yesterday (4/25/18, links to decks below) and graphed the combined number of cards from each set and associated dust value of the cards in those 9 decks.

I realize there are some issues with this analysis, but this was a way to take some sort of snapshot and I was mostly curious to see if there were any obvious sets that are over or underrepresented. Overall I think the distribution is relatively even, and to me there is no obvious choice which set to buy or not to buy looking at it this way. If there was one set to focus on the classic set may be the way to go, as it is towards the top in terms of number of cards and dust value, and it will stay in standard forever. Then buy up to 10 packs from each expansion to get your "guaranteed legendary in first 10 packs".

RANT: Been playing since beta, and I can't remember a card/meta I hated more than the Voidlord.

Posted: 25 Apr 2018 01:16 PM PDT

The card itself is inherently frustrating. The closest comparison that I can think of is the Sludge Belcher and Voidlord is like a Sludge Belcher on crack. Nevermind the fact that there are numerous ways to mana cheat one out before the 9 Mana cost meaning you can't even expect to use aggro decks to challenge it.

The worst feeling? Killing the first one, seeing the second one get cubed, then knowing fully that you're likely going to see Guldan respawning 1, 2, or 3 of them.

The funny thing is I actually don't mind the Doomguard shenanigans that comes with this deck. I don't love it, but the fact that you can punch over top of a Doomguard and it doesn't clog the board with tiny taunts at least makes me feel like I have a fighting chance.

I've been around for Huntertaker, I remember Mech Shaman, and the turn 1 Tunnel Trogg, turn 2 Totem Golem, turn 3 (pre-nerf) Tuskarr. I survived Secret Paladin and Jade Druid.

Above all of those, this card (and the cards that support it) make me the saddest. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this as a community - am I overreacting? I know this card is a meme and the deck itself isn't an insanely winning deck, it just makes me so frustrated to play against.

For those new to the sub

Yes, hadronox druid leads to a board full of lich kings.

Congratulations on 12 wins.

Changing into another hero and then playing tess will replay all your rogue cards.

Shudderwock is not OP.

Elixir of shadows isn't shadowy. Thanks.

Your welcome.

EDIT 1: Uh-huh, valanyr stacks and now you have a 912/6127 tirion.

No one likes cubelock but it's still fine.

Rank 7? Yeah, you can still meet legends. It's still aggro pally vs aggro pally so whatever.

Unreleased card "Alec the Boy Scout" hints at a Hearthstone sideboard

Posted: 25 Apr 2018 06:25 PM PDT

A bunch of unreleased "slush" cards were leaked today, and one in particular caught my eye:

Alec the Boy Scout

Hunter Legendary minion - 5 mana 4/5

Text: Pick 3 extra cards when you build your deck. Battlecry: Discover one of them.

I assume as soon as you would add Alec to your deck, you would get a pop-up asking you to choose your three discover options (much like you get a pop-up for filtering your collection for odd/even cards when you add Baku/Genn to your deck). Maybe you choose Hungry Crab, Spellbreaker, and Flare. Then when you play, depending on the deck you're facing, you choose one of those tech cards that gives you the biggest advantage.

I really love this idea and I hope they add this card (or a similar card) to a future set. What do you think?
