I didn't play before mounts, how did people get around Orr without them?

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 01:39 PM PDT

The size of the place seems huuuge, almost comparable to some of the parts from PoF (orr it seems that way). How hard was it?

If your crafting Kudzu or Nevermore, I have a Google docs spreadsheet that may interest you.

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 07:14 AM PDT

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FF9-E9nLhfRmd1nmmnGu0D-xjrreb4hf4HJ6D5aDi2U/edit?usp=sharing

There are tabs at the bottom to switch from Nevermore to Kudzu. Both have a roll up costs to see how much gold you need to spend. I use these to keep track of where I'm at. All costs are live using API.

The Nevermore tab has a chart (scroll to the bottom) to show what's the best way to get Amalgamated Gemstones. Craft or buy? Which mats to get to craft...

I also have tabs to calculate the less expense way to acquire Spritwood planks and Vials of Linseed oil. The all those Spritwood planks will break your soul...

As a bonus, there is a Materials Tab for Leather, Cloth, Ore and Wood. It's for finding out what's the least expensive way to acquire, craft or buy. Also, if you want to make some gold, which ones to harvest and sell for the most profit.

I believe you can save this to make it your own.. Not sure...

Thanks for looking.

edit: I know, "your're", not "your". screw your're English language...

[EU] Shady's first LS3 map tour plus Aurora collections will take place next Sunday!

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 02:36 AM PDT

Heya everyone!

Yesterday I asked around in this sub whether anyone might be interested in LS3 map run and was met with a good amount of positive responses, so as promised:

Shady's first LS3 map tour will cover Episodes 1, 2 + 4 and takes place on Sunday, May 6th @16:00 CEST.

  • We will go for each episode's meta achievement and the associated Aurora collections.
  • Meet up around 15:45 CEST at Promontory Waypoint - [&BF8JAAA=] - in Ember Bay.
  • Maximum squad size is 30 people, otherwise it will get too crowded.

If you do not have the Aurora: Awakening collection unlocked, you will still benefit from all the other achievements we will collect for the meta achievements.

We already have a kind mesmer for ports (especially in the Chalice of Tears JP), but more mesmers with portals would be really helpful!

Requirements:

  • Have all six episodes of Living Story Season 3 unlocked. You should also have played through the entire story.
  • Full gliding mastery would be optimal (without ley-line gliding you will miss out on a few things)
  • Ancient Magics mastery: Counter Magics, Thermal Propulsion
  • Mounts are not required.

Preparations:

  • Buy the LS3 episodes if you don't have them yet and play through the story.
  • Make sure you have the full gliding mastery plus Ancient Magics 1 and 2 (4 is also required for Aurora).

In addition to that, you need four items that are earned through collection achievements in Bloodstone Fen, Ember Bay, Lake Doric and Draconis Mons to unlock the map-specific Aurora collections. These are:

  • Sentient Anomaly - guide (collect pages for three different journals in Bloodstone Fen)
  • Sentient Aberration - guide (collect 40 mursaat tokens in Ember Bay)
  • Sentient Oddity - guide (collect 18 items for Cin in Lake Doric)
  • Sentient Singularity - guide (collect 14 Golemancer Recordings in Draconis Mons)

The collections mostly involve interacting with tiny hidden objects. Use dulfy's guides (linked above) to complete them.

However, some of them are harder to get. This includes the Sentient Aberration for which some tokens are hidden in the Ember Bay jumping puzzle (Chalice of Tears) and the Sentient Oddity which requires you to kill some map bosses in Lake Doric.

If you want to complete your Aurora collections for Bloodstone Fen, Ember Bay and Lake Doric during our map tour, you need to get the collections for the Sentient Anomaly and Singularity first. Also get all the mursaat tokens for the Sentient Aberration except for 23, 24, 25, 29 and 31. Those are inside the JP and we will get them together.

We will also complete the Cin's Business collection in Lake Doric together.

Overview

  1. Ember Bay: Chalice of Tears jumping puzzle plus remaining mursaat tokens.
  2. Lake Doric: Cin's Business collection.
  3. Short break for people who now have all four Sentient items to combine them in the Mystic Forge, buy the Sentient Seed and unlock Aurora: Awakening.
  4. Bloodstone Fen: Regroup at Soulkeeper's Airship Waypoint and complete the map achievements.
  5. Short break before we switch maps.
  6. Ember Bay: Regroup at Promontory Waypoint and complete the map achievements.
  7. Short break before we switch maps.
  8. Lake Doric: Regroup at Doric's Landing Waypoint and complete the map achievements.

I hope to see you all on Sunday! Have a great week and stay awesome.

~Shady

Can we get an even distribution for the daily Fractals?

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 01:58 AM PDT

I love the underwater fractal and am doing T4 and recommended nearly every day I wondered why this was so rarely in the rotation, so I had a look at the wiki and found, that not all fractals are treated equally:

Fractal Tier n slots Rec slots Sum
Aetherblade 2 2 4
Underwater 1 1 2
Mai Trin 2 2 4
Chaos 3 3 6
Cliffside 3 3 6
Molten Boss 3 2 5
Molten Furnace 1 2 3
Nightmare 3 1 4
Shattered Obs 2 3 5
Snowblind 3 3 6
Solid Ocean 3 2 5
Swampland 3 3 6
Thaumanova 2 3 5
Tw Oasis 2 3 5
Uncategorized 3 3 6
Urban Battle 3 2 5
Volcanic 3 4 7
Underground 3 3 6

Currently we have 18 different Fractals, which need to go for 45/90 slots (15 days rotation and three slots per day per modus), meaning every fractal should have two or three places in each specific rotation for a total of 5 slots.

The main selling point of fractals is their diversity, which I think gets a bit undermined with having some fractals being that much more often in the rotation then others. While it's clear that we won't always be able to go for equality in the future, because the available slots won't permit it, I hope that we can get at least much closer to it then currently, because I'm sure any fractal is somebody's favourite!

What can I do for a month and a half with the base game?

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 10:40 AM PDT

I got burned out from my 5 year WoW spree, decided to give another MMO a shot and guild wars 2 has always been on my radar, I'm going through the base free game right now, leveling my character and such.

How far can I go with the base game only, I won't have money for extra expense this next month and a few days so I wonder what I can do with the game.

As I've read I can only access base game content, but how far can I go into crafting, gold collecting and so on? From what I saw the game gives you quite a lot of freedom with the base game but how far can I stretch it.

Thank you : )

Left hand option for you character

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 04:30 AM PDT

Hi there, as a left hander in real life i was wondering if it wouldnt be funny to let you character to use the left hand as main hand. so for example you can use your sword in left hand and the shield in the right hand. maybe not many would use it but i think it would be a good addition to the game to make you feel more like your character.

i think it wouldnt have any advantages aswell...

Strange bug involving daily reset

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 05:40 PM PDT

So after doing the post reset tequatl, no one in that instance actually had their dailies reset. I asked around my guild and their dailies reset normally. The reset timer was stuck at 00:00. The bug fixed itself only after i restarted the client.

Is it possible that the instance was in was glitched in such a strange way?

Hearts & Minds - Constantly Disconnecting.

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 04:28 AM PDT

So I've hit an issue with HoT final quest Hearts and Minds. I've completed it 5+ times with all the "fixes" applied (hosts file, -clientport 88, low quality, repaired the game, changed from 5GHz to 2.4GHz WiFi) but it continues to crash. every. single. time you kill Mordremoth.

This has been an on-going issue throughout the whole game (especially some Vanilla Story Missions) and I can 100% say it is not my connection causing it.

Does anyone have an idea why this might be happening? It's the only part the does crash; the rest of the game runs flawlessly.

I am on Virgin Media as my ISP.

[ED]'s first world tour trip

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 04:35 PM PDT

Hey everyone!

[ED] Eternal Delusion is hosting a map tour trip - targeting new and veteran players alike, and it will take place next Friday the 4th, running throughout Tyria and gathering people as we go. It is important to note that:

  • Mounts are NOT required, nor gliding. This means you can join us without having any expansion;

  • We will gather and stop for a few moments in each major city;

  • The group will run from map to map using a squad, without teleporting to any waypoints (unless absolutely necessary), so feel free to participate with a character with no map completion;

  • We will bring kind mesmers who are willing to use portals to teleport you to uneasy spots;

  • Nearby or soon to happen events will be completed, however, we will not wait for an event to trigger if the waiting time is superior to 5:00 minutes;

  • Only vanilla maps listed below will be visited;

  • Even though not absolutely necessary, you can join our guild's discord server (will be posted in the squad message).

We will firstly gather at the Arcane Council fountain, in Rata Sum, by 18.00h (server time) - right beside the Accountancy Waypoint. Our main objective here is to promote our guild's affairs and organize a screenshot album (will post it here), with certain key points as background, that contribute to the beauty this game has to offer, and portraying the community's role in it. For that effect, we will follow the spreadsheet below:

For more information, or any topic related, whisper or send an in-game mail to BPxx.3105 or Gherod.3674.

Guild Projects beyond 69

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 04:11 PM PDT

The guild system is a nice start in GW2, but I feel needs to be pushed a little farther. As it stands currently, when a guild hits max level of 69, there is little to do short of missions as a full guild. After a while, guild commendations become pretty lackluster as well. Short of basic features such as recruitment listings in-game or calendars, the following are ways I would handle expanding the guild functionality:

Guild Embassies- These are essentially locations in the capitol cities where your guild has a small office or house. Rather than capturing the hall, perhaps a mission of good will can be provided by the relevant leader to the surrounding areas to court favor for your guild. It could be a repeatable guild mission in the area (more on that later) functioning like a heart quest, only on a larger scale and possibly zone-wide. As an example, maybe you would have to gather in Shaemoor and carry supplies across the zone to Claypool, the Shaemoor Garrison, Beetletun, and the monestary. Or perhaps on another day peace offerings could be brought to the Centaurs or bandit camps. The idea is that you get essentially a guild-wide heart to complete in order to purchase the proof of loyalty to the city. The benefit of making this a type of heart event is that it can expand on the guild mission system and be repeatable for unique content to that particular zone.

So an embassy is obtained, what would fill it?

There are presently a lot of scribing decorations craftable for the different locales. Perhaps a merchant which sells items related to those decorations would be a solution. Weapon and Armor merchants would be a great alternative as well. While Cultural Weapons are fairly easy to obtain, perhaps this could serve as a means of obtaining cultural armors for other races. Additionally, localized nodes for harvesting may be able to be unlocked. Maybe the Sylvari have plant nodes, the Charr Metal Nodes, the Norn Leather, the Humans Fabric, and the Asuran Wood. Each embassy would then have a portal back to the guild hall. Each of these would be upgrades purchased just as guild hall upgrades are currently.

Benefits of this addition- First and foremost, it gives guilds new things to work towards in the game. Additionally, it could provide more varied guild-themed destinations for the Guild Portal. The system also would be able to be expanded to other locales such as Vabbi and expansions beyond, allowing guilds easy and quick access without having to relocate their halls. Rather than taking away from the current halls, it more builds upon them making that centralized hall that much more significant. The footprint for the embassies can be fairly small on many of the maps currently in game and could even be in open-world locales.

Anyways, this is just a thought i had. I think it would be a nice addition to guilds.

Are there any more Guild Wars books planned?

Posted: 29 Apr 2018 02:11 AM PDT

We have three so far and all of them came out before GW2 released. Are there any more in the making, because that would be a great way to expand lore or make past events more detailed.
