Sunset Sarsaparilla is really common, and really good at healing you. YOU ALSO GET MONEY WHEN YOU DRINK IT.

Would you be down for more underwater exploration in future Fallouts?

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 03:40 AM PDT

Water has always been pretty under-utilised in the series in my opinion and I think the rumoured cancelled underwater vault in Fallout 4 would have been fascinating to explore so it'd be great to see that idea return. Would love to see mutated sea creatures in future instalments also. Seems like an environment with a lot of potential that has so far gone relatively untouched in the series. Having a weapon set for underwater combat (harpoons etc) would also be pretty neat.

Was there ever a mod you forgot you had on?

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 08:04 AM PDT

For me there were 2. In fo4 I had a mod that makes all star play really loud when Swan spawns. You can guess how it felt when I was trying to run past at lvl 9 and that shit blasted my ears in. In NV I had a mod that multiplies Benny's volume when he first meets you and yells "what in the goddamn". It had many options and I had picked the 3rd highest, thus I nearly lost my hearing for the rest of the day.

[Fallout4][Spoilers]Ad Victoriam, dirtbags. Or how I murdered every asshole in NukaTown USA.

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 02:07 PM PDT

On this day, I took my Brotherhood Sentinel, in full X-01 Power Armor, his trusty rocket bat and Gatling laser cannon (named Rain of Justice), and the bomb spewing, laser raining, hammer sawing monstrosity of a Sentry bot I call Ad Victoriam Alpha into Nuka-World. Ran the gauntlet, killed Colter, talked things through with Gage on the mountain... And decided that a united, well defended, well supplied army of experienced Raiders just a Vertibird ride from the Commonwealth I'd sworn to protect was just too much of a threat.

So for the first time in any playthrough, I bashed Gage's head in, stepped out on to the balcony, unslung the gat, and starting raining the light of Justice down into the courtyard. It. Was. Glorious. I repeated for the grounds around the market, lasing down Pack members and Shank.

The place is awfully quite now. The remaining gangs are all in their hideouts, behind barred doors. And I am the one who knocks.

My newest Fallout 4 character: Robert Edwin House

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 09:38 AM PDT

https://i.imgur.com/naEJUta.jpg

After Mr. House's victory at Hoover Dam, the news slowly cascaded its way eastward. Some of the broken tribes that once flew the banner of the bull migrated out of the four states area and brought tales of securitron fire raining down over the Colorado. Eventually, the news made its way to the Institute, who once hosted the tech magnate.

In late 2282, the science giant began to rummage through old world records for any trace of the man. A breakthrough was made when his blood was discovered at the Greater Mass Blood Clinic.

Wanting to reach the man that had graduated from their prestigious university, they generated a synth. They used his blood, partly intact, and filled in the gaps. The man emerged from the vat in creation and the scientists reveled, proud of their creation.

He was released on October 23, 2287 after receiving an Institute education and a rundown of who he his modeled after. The new House was given the task of accumulating caps to fund a westward expedition, as he was extremely business savvy. Like his predecessor he founded the Lucky 88 out of an unfinished pre-war vault in Quincy.

The caps coming in from the Vault casino will, sometime in the future, go towards an expedition westward, where the synthetic House will meet his maker.

Thoughts? How to improve or add depth?

Thanks!!!

Complete Guide To: Star Bottle Caps!

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 12:24 PM PDT

Complete Guide To: Star Bottle caps!

During the quest The Legend of the Star, you must collect 50 star bottle caps, and turn them all in to Festus at the Sunset Sarsaparilla headquarters.

I will first be going over several different ways to earn these special bottle caps...

Hidden Star Bottle Caps

You will find hidden star bottle caps all over the Mojave Wasteland.

You will often find one or two of these star bottle caps sitting under empty bottles of Sunset Sarsaparilla, lying on picnic tables, kitchen counters, hotel room tables, and other similar places all round the Mojave.

I've found a list of locations on an old blog, I'll link it here:

https://kingtoko.wordpress.com/2010/10/31/locations-of-the-sunset-sarsaparilla-star-bottle-caps/

Not fond of roaming the wastes, collecting one or two measly star bottle caps at a time?

Well, here are a few alternatives....

My Personal Strategy

Step 1: Get as many sunset sarsaparilla bottles as you can find (preferably at least ~100)

Step 2: Quick-Save

Step 3: Drink around 5-10. Dont get any? Reload to the last quick save.

Step 4: Have a star cap after 5-10 bottles? Good, now quick save.

Step 5: Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you're out of bottles

Step 6: Rinse and Repeat.

Remember you can get a whole lot of bottles from the sunset sarsaparilla factory, or steal them from fridges.

Many vendors sell them as well, including:

Malcolm Holmes

After you find a couple star caps, a man named Malcolm Holmes will warn you about them. He claims he doesnt collect them anymore, but pickpocketing him, or killing him will prove otherwise. He has between 1 and 6 star caps on him, but this is randomized.

A man of peace? Well, killing a single man wont affect your karma very much.

Thomas and Jacklyn

Between Nipton and the Nipton road stop, you will come across a shootout. You will get between 7-9 star caps depending on how you deal with the situation. You can...

A. Kill Jacklyn (Receive good karma), take her two star caps. Talk to thomas, warn him about their danger, and he'll give you his 7 star caps.

B. Kill them both and loot the 9 star caps off of them.

C. Kill Thomas, and Jacklyn will loot them off of him, and then provoke her and kill her for all 9 caps.

Lucky Horse Shoes

You can play a game with Festus, and if you are to win you receive:

6% chance of a star cap

24.44% chance of a card for your caravan deck

69.56% chance of a small amount of caps

This is however not recommended as it takes an entire winning game to get a small 6% chance of a star cap.

The Reward

Once you finally turn these hard-earned star caps in, you get directed to the prize inside the Sunset Sarsaparilla headquarters.

What is the fabulous prize?

A toy sheriff's badge! Weighs nothing, worth nothing!

Oh, and if you savage around the crates in the room, you'll get 1500 caps!

You'll also get a special laser pistol, Pew-Pew.

But when you have a plastic sheriff's badge, who the hell cares about 1500 caps and Pew-Pew?

Logical Flaw In Fallout New Vegas

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 02:05 PM PDT

Helios One uses Concentrated Solar Power. The panels on the ground are mirrors that reflect light onto the central tower in order to heat it.

The solar panels at Nellis AFB are photovoltaic.

But in order to repair the panels at Nellis you can use salvage from helios one. This doesn't really make sense as the panels at helios one are just simply mirrors.

Am I missing something or have I actually found something wrong with New Vegas?

What aspects or themes of the fallout universe would you like to read in a book?

Alternatively things you wouldn't want. It be simple or complex. For example, the concept of ghouls and how radiation changes them.

A fix for Pip-Boys confused design.

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 12:15 PM PDT

I've made a few personal changes to the cannon in my head that help with the weirdness of how the pip boy is distributed. If anyone wants to expand on this leave a comment. Basically there are 6 or 7 variations on the pip boy which existed before the war, these variations exist as 3 distinct generations, the 1000 series, the 2000 series, and the 3000 series.

The 1000 series as seen in the opening of fallout 4, this generation is simple and missing many key steaple features of the pip boy. The 1000 series is likely out if use by the time of the war.

The 2000 series as seen in the early fallout games is the first generation which could be said to be "feature complete" and was very common up until a few years before the war when it began to be phased out for the next generation.

The next generation of pip boys is the 3000 series, the most modern of the pip boys. The 3000 series was distributed to most vaults before the war as a replacement for the aging 2000 series, when the bombs fell only a few low priority vaults on the west coast had yet to receive the upgraded model.

The pip boy 3000S a unique variant of the pip boy used in and around the Massachusetts commonwealth to test several new features along with new improvements to the vaults. The 3000S was designed to be faster and more user friendly with a new easy-to-use layout with the buttons on the easier to reach right side. This platform was likely intended to test several feature which would be widely implemented in the 4000 series which was never developed because of the war.

I would speculation that vault tec planed to release the 4000 series to the wider public in the way the modern smartphone was made widely available (remember who had smartphone before 2007) but this is more speculation on my part. The 3000S pip boy has alot of features which make it easier to use then previous pip boys. The sole survivor is able to pick it up and use it with presumably minimal interaction with computers previously. The lack of a biometric lock also lends to my theory, as do the technical specs being the same as the Commodore 64, a computer which was one of the first mainstream home computers to be widely used by the public instead of a large company.

Please let me know what you think.

Anybody else notice how Caesar's Legion members tend to be smarter than NCR members?

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 01:00 PM PDT

Joshua Graham, Ulysses, Legate Lanius, and even Caesar himself all seem to be more intelligent and philosophical than even the NCR's finest members. The NCR mostly just seems to be filled with Average Joes who aren't even that morally inspired. I guess you could say Caesar did a fine job imitating the Romans after all.

It also seems to have more exceptional individuals than the NCR has, but that may be because Obsidian wanted it to be the villain faction and therefore have more notable members.

Caesar's Legion would've been a way better faction if Obsidian just deleted the whole "misogynistic slavers" part. Relatively powerful, great battle tactics, morally inspired, with some of the greatest minds the series has to offer, at the cost of being brutally ruled with an iron fist. Would've given the NCR a run for its money. Adding the sexist slaver part was stupid and just made them comic book villains. Maybe they'll return in a future Fallout game, being more morally ambiguous than just straight up evil.

What happens to Springvale when you blow up Megaton?

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 02:37 AM PDT

I've never blown up Megaton before, so I have no idea what happens to most things, but since Springvale is so close to Megaton, I've always wondered about what happens to the town if you blow up Megaton. Does it get destroyed, or does it become more radioactive? Or does nothing happen to it?

Playing F3 F:NV and F4 as the same character travelling east to west to east

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 01:19 AM PDT

Considering the three games only span 10 years, how possible is it for someone to cross east to west and then back to east in a massive fallout playthrough?

I always enjoyed roleplaying fallout games and the idea popped several times into my head. Using alternative starts mods you can skip the usual "vault dweller" start and play as a single person travelling across the two coasts.

What are your thoughts? Would you try the same?

For the PC gamers: can you run Fallout 4 on Intela Core i7?

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 12:57 PM PDT

I need to get a new laptop and I would like to play Steam games on it. The laptop I am considering has an Intel Core i7 instead of NVidia/GTX 1060. Can I run games like Fallout 4? Sorry I don't know too much about PC gaming.

Other games I'd like to play include Witcher 3, Dishonored 2, and FFXV.

Thanks!!

EDIT: Title meant to say Intel, not Intela. I don't think I can fix that!

Trouble installing DLCs

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 09:57 AM PDT

I bought the GOTY edition cd and it came with a redeemable code for asia accounts only - so I made one. As soon as I installed and updated Fallout; I went to redeem it as instructed, entered the code and received the message that I successfully claimed it, but now nothing's happening. So where the hell did the DLCs go? If I try it when opening Fallout it just says I haven't installed it yet. Thanks for helping.
