  • General discussion (tentatively allowing for some off-topic discussion)

Fight Pitt 8 is an upcoming tournament happening April 7th in Pittsburgh, PA, and we feel the need to ask the community for help supporting our event! We have some lofty goals, but we feel the greater Smash community can come together to help provide a sense of pride and accomplishment for your fellow players.

$5 - Have Project M: We here at Pitt Smash are huge fans of Project M, and we feel this goal will provide us with the means to run a Project M tournament at Fight Pitt!

$10 - Don't Have Project M: We here at Pitt Smash aren't huge fans of Project M, so we feel the need to provide the opportunity for people to have us not run a Project M tournament.

$10,000 - Pay Our Legal Fees for Mentioning Project M: We here at Pitt Smash really messed up by mentioning Project M at all, and we may being threatened with legal action for making this compendium. Please help us pay the settlement!

$15,000 - Float Abate to 1st Place: Abate is our favorite player, and we all know that he deserves to win the tournament, even if he loses to others along the way. With this goal, Abate will be guaranteed to walk out the victor, regardless of bracket results!

$69,420 - Support for "Close 2-0s": Everyone has played a set where the score was 2-0, but both games individually were close. Putting the result of these sets in as a simple 2-0 is unfair to players who could have won if just a few exchanges had gone differently! If this goal is reached, we'll set up a petition for smash.gg to add support for "close 2-0's", fixing this unfair scoring system.

$1,000,000 - Allow Friendlies: We at Pitt Smash are dedicated to providing the community with grassroots tournaments where all have the opportunity to play and have a good time. That's why we will be allowing friendlies once this goal reaches $1 Million.

SPECIAL GOAL:

Once all other Compendium Goals have been reached, Fight Pitt 8 will feature a Taylor Hicks concert! Taylor Hicks, notable for placing 257th in Melee at EVO 2013 and winning American Idol Season 5, is perhaps Melee's most famous player. Taylor Hicks famously dedicated his performance of the song You're So Beautiful to Melee. Taylor Hicks truly has both the voice and technical prowess of a generation, and Fight Pitt 8's Taylor Hicks concert will be the best experience you could ever have!

Hello everyone! I have rarely posted on reddit and part of my goals for 2018 are to be more active on social media so here we are!

Yesterday I proposed the Global Smash Commission (GSC for short). To get caught up either read my original twitlonger or check out the article posted on Smashboards.

I realize that this is an AMA so feel free to ask me anything regarding anything I am involved with but the primary focus of this should be on the GSC. I am not expecting a huge turnout but who knows, AMA!

Let me start off by saying I love this app and what it does, I just wish it was active. I live in central FL and thought this would be a Smash haven considering the big names that are from here but there's only about 15 people around my area and it looks like they haven't been on since making their profiles. I pulse everyday in hopes that someone somewhere will respond like I'm Will Smith from I am Legend. Anyone have some success stories they want to share?
