Guide to maximizing your Hall of Fame Nerfs

Last year, the year of the Mammoth, you recieved dust for Hall of Fame cards (HOF) "up to the maximum number of cards you could put in a deck, [for their] full dust value...." This is a short walkthrough to help you maximize your dust based on your goals. Some may think this is a simple concept but judging by the amount of posts last year....some people don't get it.

The cards being changed this year are:

  • Coldlight Oracle (Rare)
  • Ice Block (Epic)
  • Molten Giant (Epic)

The last day to take advantage of this (based on last year) is as soon as the Year of the Raven begins. Dust is awarded when you first log in during Year of the Raven. (Best estimate is mid to late April)

I. Short Answer

This is very simple but...

  • If you have a golden copy of the card, do nothing.
  • If you have a Normal copy of the card you have a choice to make:
    • If you want to upgrade to a golden copy for free, craft the golden copy.
    • If you want the maximum free dust, do nothing.
  • If you are missing a copy of any card, craft golden.
II. Explanation

For reference, this is a basic crafting table for Hearthstone cards.

  • When the changes hit, the dust is awarded to your account. You don't have to dust your cards, just have them in your collection.
  • When the rotation happens, the dust you receive will be automatic based on the cards in your collection and isn't affected by how many copies you have beyond the max playable copies. For Common, Rare, and Epic cards the max playable copies are 2x. For Legendary cards it is 1x.
  • Normal and Golden cards aren't rewarded separately. Remember, this is max playable copies.. Blizzard will give you the largest possible amount back meaning golden copies supercede normal copies. So if you have 2x Normal [[Coldlight Oracles]] and 1x Golden Coldlight Oracle, you will get dust for 1x Normal Coldlight Oracle and 1x Golden Coldlight Oracle because the max playable copies is 2.
  • You will no longer be able to open the Hall of Fame cards in Classic packs after rotation.
  • There was a special exception for Common cards but there are no Common cards this year.
III. Examples

  • Example 1: I have 2x copies of Golden Iceblocks.

    Profit: 3,200 dust.

    You do nothing. You are already getting the maximum dust back of 3200 dust.

  • Example 2: I have 2x normal copies of Iceblock and want to upgrade them to Golden.

    Profit: 200 dust from dusting normal copies you already had and 2x Golden Iceblocks.

    Craft the 2x Golden Iceblocks for 3200 dust. You will get 3200 dust back on rotation. Because you have 2x Golden copies you no longer need your normal copies of the card and can dust them for 100 each (200 dust total).

  • Example 3: I have 2x normal copies of Iceblock and want maximum dust.

    Profit 800 dust.

    Doing nothing will maximize your profit here. You don't have to spend any dust and will automatically get 800 dust back. You get the same result if you craft 2x Golden copies and dust them after. Net of 800 dust.

  • Example 4: I am missing a copy of Ice Block

    Profit 0 dust but a free Golden Card.

    You have no profit but you get a golden copy of the card for free. If you never want to play Wild you can dust them for 400 dust each.

  • Example 5: I hate Wild, I just want dust and not the cards

    Profit Varies

    If you don't want the Wild cards you can still make a profit. If you are missing a card, craft Golden. If you aren't missing a card, do nothing. After you get the dust refund you can just dust the card for profit. For instance:

    • You craft 2x Golden Ice Blocks for 3200 dust.
    • You get 3200 dust back from Blizzard at rotation.
    • You then dust your two Golden Ice Block cards for a profit of 800 dust.

On the last few expansions, each class got a special kind of legendary : Quests, DKs and weapons. So my question is quite simple : if Blizzard was to follow the same logic what do you think could be coming for the next one ?

My ideas so far are lengendary spells or balanced passive cards like we have in dungeon runs (read that 2nd idea somewhere I can't remember).

What would you like to see coming soon for the game ?

Guys, take this as it comes, but tonight i was dreaming about beeing a player of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Lebron james was benched to let me play and i was stealing the show! (and u may wonder, what does this has to do with HS? we will reach that point) after the game i got so many interviewers coming at me and i was like "here they are, this is gonna be my 1st step into glory", but all they were asking to me was this: "what do you feel about the new Hearsthstone neutral spells? are they gonna ruin the game?" i woke up a bit later totally shoked.

so don't ask me why, but this is it. in the next expansion we are gonna have NEUTRAL SPELLS that can be used in any deck.

Btw sorry for grammar mistakes, im not a native speaker :D

Since Ranked Play is still disabled and I don't have enough gold for Arena or the Brawl, I've been playing a little Casual just to complete my quests, and I honestly dislike it. Why can't we complete quests on Dungeon Run? That'd be way more fun than just playing matches that are simply pointless imo. What do you guys think?
