Elitist Raiding Party 2!

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 02:38 PM PST

The Elitist raiding party is returning for round two!

It is a time of uncertainty for the elitists in Tyria, with the fall of Quantify it is unknown who the most toxic guild in the game is! This of course prompts the return of The Elitist Raiding Party (ERP for short). On the 7th and 8th of April at 5pm GMT 8 guilds will battle for a share of over 20000 gold, glory, bragging rights and various other special prizes!

The rules are a little different this time - we'll be seeing some interesting strategies and compositions! (read about that here)

We shall create an event of such toxicity that goes down in the annals of history!

What is your GW2 unpopular opinion?

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 12:52 PM PST

We haven't had one of these in awhile, so...yeah.

Mine:

1) I don't like "Fear Not This Night." While I find the music itself beautiful, the lyrics are cringy as heck and really distract me from the rest of the song.

2) I miss Trahearne.

This community is crazy

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 06:40 PM PST

So bit of a story , I'm a long time player but pretty casual. Sometimes I farm my stuff other times I'm roaming cities or helping new players in Queensdale or silverwastes.

Today I was chilling in Divinity's reach just before logging off and going to bed when I noticed in chat a guy asking what gen 1 legendary he should buy. As a proud owner of only 1 legendary (the Bifrost) I had to convince him to buy the Bïfrost! He asked some questions why and invited me to his group. He asked me to show me a character with the Bïfrost I show him my daredevil and my mirage. He really liked it and asked me what my next legendary will be, which will be Astralaria as I started the first collection earlier this week and still had a long way to go (with only 200 gold). He liked that decision and asked what legendary I'd make after that to which I responded that I didn't really know as a legendary is something special and I'm not always up to the challenge on crafting one but I'd like sunrise for my guardian some time.

Now what happens next I still have no words for.. He sent me a mail containing... Sunrise... He said he'd been asking players for 2 hours what legendary to buy but no one went and showed off their characters using a legendary or giving him good advice.. I wish I could repay him but with only 200 gold and in the process of making astralaria I couldn't give much.. He only asked for one thing in return... To spread the kindness and help others where possible to build up the best community possible! Which I will proudly continue to do because I did not have words for what happened to me today... One day I wish to do the same thing, giving a legendary to someone who is being kind and a great part of the community.. Untill that time I will keep helping new and returning players, answering questions, showing them around Tyria and more!

tl:dr : a random guy in divinitys reach gave me Sunrise after I was kind to him

[BATS] Power Revenant Benchmarks for Herald and Renegade

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 08:40 AM PST

Time for the benchmarks nobody asked for, but I did it anyways!

State of Power Revenant

As it stands, Power Revenant is performing far below current expectations as a DPS spec. Even on large hitboxes, 30k is a laughable benchmark and every other relevant DPS spec will outperform it in damage. Even in terms of supplemental support such as boon coverage, condition cleanse, and even CC, Power Revenant is outshined by most other specs. Now why I am posting this? Well it is not as bad as people want to make it out to be.

What Power Herald offers is a shift in the composition of the squad itself due entirely to Facet of Nature.

Facet of Nature

Bringing 33% Boon Duration can be a sizable increase to some classes, the most notable examples being Chronomancer, Firebrand, and Renegade:

  • Chronomancer: ~30% Effective Power increase. Allows for a more DPS-oriented setup (Scholar Runes, Zerk gear, or food)

  • Firebrand: ~7% Damage Increase. Can equip Renegade Runes or swap to a Sinister-Balthazar setup.

  • Renegade: ~10% Damage Increase. Becomes significantly less reliant on Tides of Time. Allows Devastation to be swapped to Invocation.

Overall it is almost always worth it to run a variant of Herald that pulses Facet of Nature over other Power Revenant builds if your squad can allow it.

Viability in Raids

As stated above, it is still an under performing spec (to nobody's surprise). In a realistic raid scenario with a single heal Druid, it is easy to expect 8-10 Boons. Thanks to Elder Force, the more boons a raid squad produces, the higher Herald DPS goes (approximately 500 DPS Per Boon). This, coupled with the potential 3k-5k DPS increase that Facet of Nature and Assassin's Presence provides, can easily put Power Herald at effectively 30k-33k DPS.

Damage aside, there are a few other alluring aspects. The rotation is simple; you generate massive amounts of self sustain via Focused Siphoning and Vengeful Hammers; it brings decent stability uptime.

I would not recommend these builds to new players as it requires coordination with how your squad is organized to make them shine. With this in mind, if your group allows for it, I would recommend this to anyone interested in trying a new class after clearing the same 5 wings on the same class.

Get New EU Players a Mount

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 04:28 AM PST

in regards to u/MoonNeophyte's post I am starting the same event on the EU Servers.

Our aim is to give new players who own PoF and don't own the first mount (raptor) yet a way to get access to it.

We will be starting on Saturday, March 3rd at 01:00 Pm CET.

All you need to do is:

  • sign up under this link

(alternatively you can message us at either: Geenaidyre.4063 or ChartFish.1308)

So it is easier for us to see who wants to come!

  • You need to own PoF!

You don't need to be level 80.

So if you want to participate, log on at the time you specified in the survey and we will invite you to our group.

In order for everything to run smoothly and effectively, we will try to get a full squad of players before we start.

We are only 2 Players organizing this event right now. depending on the amount of players that want to participate we welcome anyone who can spare some time and can help us out!

[dT] Daily 100CM Arkk [2:45 min] + New Power Chrono Guide

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 08:03 AM PST

Hi everyone,

following my post from last week I started recording our daily runs in the hope of uploading some fractal gameplay in the future.

Our first video is a 100CM Arkk kill (Power Chrono PoV):

YouTube: https://youtu.be/zho5Wp4W7oY (2:45 min)

Although the time is faster than anything I could find (fastest Gw2Raidar kill is 3:03 min), I refused from tagging it as a record run as the time can easily be improved by taking three Weavers instead.

We used the following setup:

Build Player
Boon Chronomancer Naruto.9183 Guide
Base Banner Warrior Steve.4815
Power Weaver 1 Xarlor.1432 Guide
Power Weaver 2 Bogya.6034 Guide
Power Chrono Cayseth.8371 (me) Guide - NEW

More about the Base Banner Warrior build can be found in this excellent reddit post by Moorbazan, as boon stripping is taken care of by the Power Chrono this yields a little bit more DPS than a "regular" Spellbreaker.

We also uploaded a new build guide for Power Chronomancer (DPS) to our site, it's really fun to play and spreads some of the utility responsibility from the main chrono.

As always, visit our website at https://discretize.eu for fractal, build and mechanics guides.

See you in daily fractals!

Am I the only one vaguely bothered by Charr anatomy?

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 03:01 PM PST

Don't get me wrong, I love the Charr. I think they are the coolest proprietary fantasy race in any video game I've played. I have three Charr toons and I love them but the mechanics of their anatomy are puzzling to me. For example, their arms are longer than their legs and are built more or less like human arms, which aren't very good for running on all fours (which lore says they prefer). Cats, dogs, and other quadruped species tend to have very long 'forearms' with the elbow up high to the torso. Also, Charr hind legs are very short and they seem excessively top-heavy. Just looking at them I can't see how they could move efficiently as either bipeds or quadrupeds.

(yes I'm bored sue me)

Is Superior Elements ever going to be fixed?

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 03:55 AM PST

It's been a month since the last big balance patch that supposedly fixed the Superior Elements' well known bug of sharing a global cooldown across all Weavers.

February 06, 2018

Fixed a bug in which multiple weavers could override each other's cooldowns.

Yet, said change had absolutely no effect and Superior Elements still only applies 3 seconds of Weakness even with 10 Weavers.

Bugs related to Mesmer following the patch got fixed in the blink of an eye but Anet didn't communicate at all about Superior Elements, not even aknowledging the bug as far as I've seen (not in the Bug Tracker either, I reported it on patch day), and a month has passed now, so... is it ever going to be fixed or is it gonna receive the Vault treatment and just be abandoned? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[Discussion] What do you think PoF Missed?

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 07:04 PM PST

been thinking a lot lately of things PoF could have missed compared to HoT, ive come up with a small list that i personally feel was missing from PoF:

PvP

  • Crystal Rabbit -> Dragon Reward Tracks (With Finishers)

  • Reward tracks for desert regions (Maybe mount mini's per area raptor->oasis etc)

  • New PvP Map, Maybe desert based Stronghold type map (Yeah i know game type is dead, but i still feel like it has potential and i like it myself)

PvE

  • Map Completion Rewards are very lackluster, could include some thing like traders keys, traders caches (maybe 5-10), recipe for armors/weapons etc

  • Story Rewards have been lacking a lot since HoT, no skins, no black lion keys…

  • Guild Halls should automatically "process" scribing crafts if the guild has enough slots for items, so painful to craft guild siege/parts of decorations and having to stand there, or alternatively just increase the slots for processing point by about another 30, with the ability to right click and add stack of however many items are there.

  • Need more uses for Glob of Dark Matter, Resonating slivers -> lodestones, there are very few uses for lodestones.

  • Luck has minimal uses for accounts with maxed magic find, alternative uses should be brought up (just not an eater, kinda pointless having a cycle of eating luck to get blues/greens to give more luck(unless it gives guaranteed rares/exotics))

  • The Few meta's in PoF are not popular, maybe casino. Usually this is because the whole time/reward sort of thing, if there were some form of unique merchant with some end game cosmetics (infusions) , or some once per day rewards like a superior cache/amalgamated gemstone /provisioner token for a slightly high price, the possibility to attract a crowd would be more possible, prolonging the life cycle of the expansion maps outside of living story

WvW

  • Personally feel like traps and tricks should be updated

(not personally into wvw myself, but i hear its getting better)

EDIT : formatting

[Speculation] Order of Shadows... Against us?

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 07:25 AM PST

Hi guys and girls :)

My boyfriend and I were discussing some things we have noticed about the Order of Shadows, and definitely want to hear others' opinion on it. (And also fact checking)

We believe the Order of Shadows is currently conspiring against us.

When we were captured, they were supposed to be outside and they never arrived. Isnt this around the same time when Taimi was kidnapped? How? How did they know where Taimi was?

When we discussed taking down Joko, their response was that it wasn't as simple and that it would destabilize the region... but wouldnt a war with Tyria be the perfect excuse to take him down? If he is defeated, the rebuilding process would be way easier than just taking him down (As a war would most likely polarize the region, and embolden Sunspears which could be used to restore order to Elona)

What can confirm that Joko is actually back? That he isnt being impersonated by someone? The Episode 2 image has just a Shadow of Joko... a Shadow... -Tinfoil hat here I know- but...

Why was there a dead order of whispers agent? Why is the Order of Shadows the "one with the plan"? What if the "bug in the system" isnt Taimi hacking it, or the Scarab Plague but... A different type of infiltration?

The new Fear Not This night version emphasizes "Though Shadows fall..." a lot. (Mega tinfoil hat, I know)

Thoughts?

Connection Issues

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 11:37 AM PST

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 08:15 AM PST

Anyone else having disconnectes/server log in issues atm? I keep getting d/cd into a black screen and it forces me to restart game.

Not sure if it's for wvw or just a local thing, but it's strange. We had issues last night in raids too.

[IDEA] Thief Elite Spec Idea: Duelist

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 07:19 PM PST

One of the most interesting things about thief that I always loved was their Dual Wield skills. The idea of melding together two weapons is extremely unique to Thief, and I would love to have an Elite Spec that highlights this. Also, I want thief to have more interesting and interactive damage rotations in PvE, since the current best thief builds involve auto attacking and spamming a spell when you get initiative.

Main Points:
- Cannot use shortbow at all: Forever thieves have had their shortbow glued to their second weapon set, and honestly, it really limits diversity. As a spec focused completely on dual wielding, removing their only two handed weapon would make sense, and force you to use two unique combinations of weapons.
- Off-hand sword: Thief has dual daggers, dual pistols, but only main hand sword, so this one just makes sense as the new weapon introduced. Plus, being an offhand it would add 3 new dual skills to play with. I would like for it to have decent mobility, to make up for the loss of shortbow.
- New Auto Attacks: Every auto attack chain's second hit would be from the off hand instead of the main hand, and a fourth hit would be added that is a unique dual skill from both hands. Pistol's auto would be made into a chain to support this. Ex. D/Sw would be Double Strike > Slash > Lotus Strike > New Dual D/Sw dual skill.
- Two Initiative Bars: Thief would now have two, smaller, initiative bars. The first will only be consumed from main hand skills, and the second from off hand. Dual skills will split their costs 50/50.
- Exceed Utility Skills: Think Warrior Burst skills, but as utility skills. With Holosmith's introduction, I thought that Exceed skills would work well with Duelist, with two different effects based on whether or not your Primary initiative bar or Secondary initiative bar has more initiative. Your currently equipped weapons would also have a slight effect as well (think Weaver's Primordial Stance).

Sorry if this post isn't up to standards, this is my first Reddit post! I just really want the Dual Wield mechanic on Thief to feel fresh again, and thought I'd give my two cents.
