Posted: 15 Mar 2018 06:13 AM PDT So this is a strange question, but my buddy started a server with a bunch of mods, including one with a high contrast belt graphics rework, that's as far as I know completely cosmetic in nature. I think it's ugly as sin personally, but that's on me and no one else. Is there a way to, heh, modify a mod so that it reports to the server I have it but not actually doing anything? Posted: 15 Mar 2018 12:55 PM PDT I launched my first rocket recently and it felt pretty great, but honestly, getting the different items per hour achievements always make me feel like I've graduated to the next level of factorio-ing. I just got circuit veteran 3 and I'm a couple hundred/hour away from computer age 3 which seemed impossible when I made my first green circuit. [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Mar 2018 03:32 AM PDT So I suck at modding, but I had an idea to change the bot sounds to the seagulls from finding nemo. Imagine late game bots whizzing by and there's just this chorus of "MINE MINE MINE" [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Mar 2018 06:23 PM PDT Hello, I've been playing for a while now, but I've never created a planned out base before. Everything I've done has been spaghetti and thrown together to fill a need in the moment. Well, my second base just ran out of convenient resources so I figured I'd start a planned base with concrete floor and everything. I'm planning on at least 4 lanes of rail in and out with sectioned quarters(energy quarter, oil quarter, mall, and circuit quarter) but I've never done anything this complicated before. I'm on what is basically just a normal map and I haven't launched a rocket yet, but I have researched to it. I'm currently working on a perimeter. Are there any tips or "lessons learned" type things that the more advanced players can clue me in on? I'm planning on my energy quarter being the smallest, but I'm trying out nuclear energy for the first time and don't really know what to expect in terms of size. I'm expecting my circuit quarter to be the largest and most sprawling section. Is that correct? Will the mall end up being more space consuming? I have room to grow, but I'm building next to water for the natural defenses against biters so I do have some considerations on that. Is my organization planning going to be effective or should I consider different "quarters"? Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
Does adding more thermal mass to reactors make them more or less fuel efficient? Posted: 15 Mar 2018 07:37 PM PDT I'm curious, because if you add a lot of heat pipes around a reactor, it will reach max temperature more slowly, and also lose heat to waste due to distance of the pipes, but it will also cool down more slowly once the fuel stops. This could give more "free" energy from the exchangers once the fuel stops. [link] [comments]

[Mod Advice Request] What's your favourite way to get optionally infinite ore patches? Posted: 15 Mar 2018 05:09 PM PDT How do you do, fellow addicts? I'm looking for a mod or mods or some kind of setup that will help me solve these two problems:
There are plenty of mods that give me #1, but then they don't let me have #2. I also don't want mods that let me get ore from just anywhere. After some thought, what I would really like would be something like DirtyMining, where I could mark specific areas or miners as infinite, meaning they wouldn't deplete the resources, but would mine slower or something. What do you think I should do? [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Mar 2018 01:56 PM PDT Hello. I am having this issue where after I finish making Green science factory, I just lose interest and make a new world, and going through the start of it again is never fun. Any advice with this? [link] [comments] |
