Thanks to this Sub-reddit, I have a 90% winrate in 1k :). Here is what taught me the most. Posted: 17 Jul 2018 12:54 PM PDT THE best advise I got here from multiple people was something very simple but heavily over looked... It is pushing waves. Most of the time I see players at 1k look at the jungle as some safe heathen you go to every game to seek the treasures of that 30k gold ant-image 45 mins into the game. Now, this may work sometimes if your team is playing the 4 v 5 well but in most cases it will not work. A good way of re balancing the 4 v 5 you are creating is pushing waves... if you push the waves into the towers, then enemy team will have to send members of their team to go and kill creeps making it a 4 v 4 again or even in some cases 4 v 3 but the biggest opportunity window exists right then and there. And here comes the 2nd tip fitting perfectly with this one. take fights you will win. When the lane is pushing and they send one of their carries top to kill the wave you know that you can take a fight that will be unfair for the enemy team. This tip right here blew my mind because it makes you think about the map in a different sense. Push waves----> farm jungle/takeunfair fights------> take towers and win game. I was watching that russian smurf yibacnoovov or whatever and he does mostly the same thing every game. Watch one of his alchemist games and he does the same thing to win as smurf in low elo. I just want to give big thanks to this reddit for being very helpful and if anything I say here seems a little bit off let me know. I am a novice in these new techinques. :) [link] [comments] |

Win rate under 40% over 1000 average games Posted: 17 Jul 2018 01:08 PM PDT Is this supposed to be normal? If matchmaking is supposed to be balanced, and I'm between 1k and 2k (based on the medals I see on teammates), shouldn't the winrate be closer to 50%? I don't deliberately throw games. And in most games I get teammates who have no idea what they're doing. Is this just how the trenches are or am I exceptionally unlucky? [link] [comments] |
Is it worth to buy the battle pass now ? Posted: 17 Jul 2018 04:47 PM PDT Title says it all. I have been away from dota 2 for almost a year now and just got back in. Is it too late or unwise to join the battle pass stuff ? [link] [comments] |

Anyone else had the joy of rising lately? Posted: 17 Jul 2018 03:37 PM PDT If I keep up this trend I will have risen by about 1k in three months. I think most of the advice here has helped. Once you get it down, it is easy to stick to consistently.
Most importantly, once you begin to see progress and a steady 60 percent winrate, it is much easier to not tilt/flame. You will go into games and think "I can win this" almost every time. It is also less disheartening to lose, since you still feel like you are going up. EDIT: Also, want to add that my winrate with Spectre was below average before asking for advice here. Just some simple item build suggestions with a playstyle change and my winrate with her increased by 5 percent over just two months. Make sure you are playing the hero correctly. [link] [comments] |
Theorycraft lotus orb and Bloodstone Posted: 17 Jul 2018 12:38 PM PDT Lotus orb: made out of perseverance and energy booster. Bloodstone needs perseverance and soul booster(energy+vitality +point booster). Dissemble lotus orb into bloodstone(with the other 2 boosters) and plate mail. You simply buy lotus orb BEFORE bloodstone when you need the dispell and armour to survive and go in team fights. Let's say on Leshrac you can go the armour talent+ plate mail and have +15 armour at lv 10. This makes it insanely harder for a physical hero to burst you AND with the lotus orb active direct target spells are not really advised + certain debuffs you can dispell. You could mix it with an infused raindrop and be pretty tanky to everything but pure I would say. The biggest problem I see here is no HP at all and it delays your bloodstone by 1400 gold. Bloodstone does allow you to farm REALLY fast on heroes that love to buy it Leshrac/storm/Timbersaw. [link] [comments] |
How to count seconds/half seconds for combos? Posted: 17 Jul 2018 05:31 PM PDT Ex. Kunkka delay is 1.6 seconds for torrent How would you count 1.6 seconds in your head? Any cues? Sounds? etc. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Jul 2018 05:02 PM PDT Hello, brand new player here, can someone explain how the game works? In league, matchmaking you can set your preferred roles, but in DOTA2 you have to pay for it? I am a bit confused please help. [link] [comments] |
What do you think is the absolute strongest lane-crushing duo in the current meta? Posted: 17 Jul 2018 08:56 AM PDT There's a million threads out there about good dual lane combos, though I haven't found one discussing 7.18. What's the top 2v2 combo right now? A few weeks ago it was axe +sky, and now perhaps beastmaster + sky. I played axe + bonus mango silencer yesterday and we absolutely crushed two games and won a close game in the third, albeit at 1k mmr. And, safe to assume it'll be an offlaner plus position 4 support, right? By nature agi carries should be weaker laners. Best offlaners right now: Axe, Beastmaster, Doom (?), dark seer (? Not in low mmr), enigma, necrophos (?), riki (?), mirana, bloodseeker. Seems Axe is the consensus strongest overall pub offlaner. Best 4 supports: Wind (or farming 3), NS, ench (?), pudge (?) Best 5 supports: warlock, CM, sky, Willow(?), Lion (?), treant, undying, witch doctor Honorable mention: Jakiro, Lich, silencer Some of the (?) are based on what we have seen ti-qualified pros spamming in pubs, rather than tournament use. Honorable mention, I am not sure if these heroes are actually good right now or not. Some recent discussion on the topic... https://www.reddit.com/r/learndota2/comments/8yglqg/what_are_viable_pos_5_supports_in_the_current/ https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueDoTA2/comments/8z8z78/how_the_hell_does_warlock_have_such_a_high/ https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueDoTA2/comments/8yrvz9/what_position_4_heroes_are_successful_at_the/ https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueDoTA2/comments/8ye3b9/why_is_treant_so_strong_now/ https://www.esportstales.com/dota-2/top-10-most-played-off-lane-heroes-of-718-5k-mmr https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueDoTA2/comments/8vezrf/718_offlaners/ https://www.reddit.com/r/learndota2/comments/8xiaw2/best_offlaners_patch_718/ [link] [comments] |

Does sniper normally win against ta mid? Posted: 17 Jul 2018 01:07 PM PDT |
Why does Jugg feel very weak currently? Posted: 17 Jul 2018 06:21 AM PDT Jugg used to be a fairly safe carry to pick, and could excel in multiple lineups and gameplans. Now whenever I pick him, unless I stomp early game, he kinda feels useless for most of the game. I know he got a couple of nerfs a while back (mainly crit, healing ward, and BF) but I guess it's mainly the meta shift that's hurting him? It seems like he has too many weaknesses that need to be solved with items along with his ult being so easily dodged now. What do you guys think about Jugg? [link] [comments] |
My team picks greedy, what hero can I pick to be a playmaker to make space? Posted: 17 Jul 2018 10:51 AM PDT So my invoker lost mid vs meepo, antimage and Rubik lost bottom to a solo Centaur. My earth shaker is top vs bs and pudge and cm. What hero can I choose to win top, rotate mid and help bottom? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Jul 2018 08:39 AM PDT I love Undying. I think he is so much fun to play. I was thinking which heroes would combine well with him, and Treant came to mind. With Treant's tree respawn talent, Undying could easily throw tombstone into any patch of trees during a teamfight, and it would be very difficult to get rid of. As well as this the root from his ult allows lots of zombie damage to add up. I think these heroes could synergise quite well as a 4 and a 5. Are there any better combinations for Undying? Or is there any reason this is a bad combination that I am missing? [link] [comments] |
what could i have done better this game? Posted: 17 Jul 2018 11:53 AM PDT https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4010689783 i was storm this game and we were pulling ahead early game, we even got mega creeps at 50 something minutes IIRC (all our t3 were still standing). but after that, we just couldn't manage to break their high ground defense. i couldn't pick off their void or disruptor anymore because they bought aeon disks and fast forward to the 90 minute mark, they managed to win a team fight and 3 of our heroes didn't have buyback for some reason and i couldn't stop them from hitting the throne. if anyone could take a look and assess the dotabuff link (or even better, watch the replay), it would be very nice. thank you in advance P.S. sorry for the bad format, doing this on mobile [link] [comments] |
Any heroes that are strictly outclassed this meta? Posted: 17 Jul 2018 07:51 AM PDT I've been wondering what heroes are mostly sub-optimal this year for me to pick. Sometimes I wanna grab dark-seer or elder titan for my lane but I wonder if my team will think I'm trolling or something. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Jul 2018 11:24 AM PDT Hey im going to start playing with bloodseeker any tips with the spells? Also any item build would be appreciated [link] [comments] |
I keep losing TA games after I get aegis and push it, any checklist before pushing? Posted: 17 Jul 2018 12:53 AM PDT Mid game, I literally get level 20 by 20 mins, Deso, blink, Bkb grab aegis push their hg and our team gets wiped enemy catches up and beats my team. On the other hand, I stay passive and farm as TA and we end up losing the late game as well. How do I win with this hero? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Jul 2018 09:16 AM PDT I was Phoenix support and my offlane was Magnus and Luna and dazzle pretty much dominated the lane. What hero should I have picked to support Magnus so he can get good farm in the lane? https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4010618400 Any other reasons on what I could have done or told mky teammates to do to win would be great! How do you get better at micro?(specifically lycan and lone Druid) Posted: 17 Jul 2018 01:36 AM PDT I get lost sometimes during fights. For lycan should I just not get hotd for a while so I can get the hang of necrobook? [link] [comments] |
Is getting the ranged deny really that important that you'd die for it? Posted: 16 Jul 2018 10:15 PM PDT I am learning lone druid and was watching Admiral Bulldog's recent matches. In particular, this one : https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4008556931 I noticed that at ~4:40, he gave up his only escape, savage roar, to attempt a deny on the ranged creep. This resulted in his death moments later as mirana punished him. I have also observed other mid players like sumail focusing on the ranged creep last hits. Is it really worth giving up your escape skills for a chance to deny a ranged creep? [link] [comments] |
