Why are you waiting for another elf race? I would enjoy playing as Tang Mo.

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 12:56 PM PDT

How much of Tamriel can you explore in ESO? As of Summerset, the answer is more than half.

Why can we not change the order of characters in the selection screen yet?

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 08:06 PM PDT

I can't be the only person bothered by the fact that we still can't change the order of characters in the character selection screen. Will ZOS never do anything about this? It would be so fucking fantastic if I actually could move my main to the top to replace my loot-mule. It seriously messes with my ocd...

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 08:15 PM PDT

I remember the first time I played this game last year and i saw and heard the dark anchor fall right beside me. I was checking ou the place where the anchor actually attaches to. I had no idea what it was or what was happening or what to expect. I was actually terrified. IT was very creepy hearing Molag Bal and the sound effects, the way the anchor falls and hits hard into stone. The immensity of it. Was really awesom experience

I had a dream that there was an update that added "Were-Goblins" and the ability to date/marry NPCs.

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 03:36 PM PDT

Allow me to share this wonderful vision with you all. (with crappy illustrations too)

When you're someone who always has extremely vivid dreams, but are also the kind of person who spends several hours every day playing ESO, it goes without saying that you'll have bizarre dreams about it.

And you know what? Summerset can wait. I have been shown something far superior.

So, to begin, in the dream there had just been a huge update that, for some reason, added and changed a lot of major things in Morrowind. I remember thinking it was a little odd they'd suddenly bring out a dramatic update for an existing chapter/DLC, but not to complain.

The first thing that was added was this new feature - which I don't even know what to call - where basically, if you stood in certain areas of Vvardenfell (basically anywhere in the ashy, fiery places) a huge countdown would appear on the screen because Red Mountain was about to go kaboom.

I think it was an event where wave after wave of enemies would come out, or something along those lines, but for some reason it was absolutely terrifying. I appeared to be both in-game and in my own living room simultaneously, and it felt like if I let the countdown drop, a REAL volcano was going to erupt and kill me.

Also for some reason, an evil-looking Seryn (the Ashlander girl from the main Morrowind quest line, if you didn't know) kept appearing super-imposed over the volcano, like she was behind all of the evil.

Here's a dramatic recreation!

The next feature that added were "Were-Goblins." Were-Goblins worked exactly like werewolves, except they were Magicka-based, and instead of transforming into a large werewolf, you'd shrink down into an ugly little goblin. And if you pressed a certain key - I think it was the same as the weapon swap key - while transformed, these huge, spider-like fingers would come out of your back like wings.

It's worth noting that, while playing as a Were-Goblin on my Argonian character, my skill bar looked something like this.

The, er, anime girl skill (which I believe wasn't from the goblin skill line, I don't know where it came from) was basically a placeholder skill that allowed you to have a third Ultimate ability slotted. Or something like that.

To become a were-goblin, you had to get hit by special NPC goblins (like how you get vampirism from special Bloodfiends) that only spawned in Stonefalls, and I think it had to be day. I can't remember if you could give goblin bites to other players. Also, where Werewolves have a howl ability, goblins could make goblin noises. Cue players in every major city spamming goblin gibberish sounds on command. It was wonderful.

After playing as a goblin for a while, I realized my character's goblin form was a darker, mossier shade of green than any other goblin I'd seen. I figured it was probably because she was an Argonian.

So I decided to zoom the camera in on her face, and well... this is what she looked like.

The next major features was the ability to date/marry NPCs. However, there was a catch. No two players could marry the same NPC. Once a NPC was taken, they were taken for good.

You also couldn't just marry whichever NPC you wanted, you had to earn their affection, which was part doing things for them (talking to them often, doing quests, bringing them gifts) but also heavily RNG.

The forums and this subreddit were full of people raging about how they obsessively spent hours trying to get Razum-Dar or Naryu, only to have a generic beggar or merchant confess their undying love to them instead.

Now I was playing on my vampire High Elf character, who is very white and who I created with the intention of looking like a Snow Elf. This becomes relevant later on.

I was exploring a new zone, that looked kind of like Auridon but supposedly was another part of Morrowind. For some reason I decided to use a memento I had, which was called "Vivec's Whistle." It was a whistle that, when used, would summon Vivec. And when I used it, he was like LOOKS LIKE YOU'VE GOT SOME LEARNING TO DO and suddenly all the map icons were revealed to me. So I guess it was like a cheat?

However, this also started a quest which was basically just Vivec giving me a tour of wherever the hell this zone was. I had to go to a place called "Almalexia's Meditation Gardens", which Vivec said "this is where she grows all six kinds of sacred squash plant!"

I also got a tool-tip telling me that because Almalexia wasn't currently on the squash farm, I should be very careful and shouldn't steal anything.

Anyway, towards the end of the tour quest, I was thinking that this was the most pointless and weird quest in the game. Then Vivec started walking instead of floating (and also stopped sparkling and stuff) and I had a dialogue option to ask me why.

And then, this happened. (yes, the dialogue thing was on the wrong side in the dream) Confused and startled as to how my character's whiteness was referenced, I woke up.

So there you have it. The moral of the story is... I should write the script for the next expansion Don't play ESO for hours before bed. (or do and get results like this)

Questions from a GW2/WoW player

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 03:56 AM PDT

Hello guys!

I tested Base ESO and must say i had a lot of fun and really like the story / questing (talking npcs man)

I always mained a warrior or rogue/thief in gw2 and wow. Now i can't decide what to play, nightblade or dragonknight, stamina or magicka... Any tips on how to make the decision easier?

And I want to do all kind of PVE stuff (big plus would be if i can solo everything that is soloable) but also want to do some PVP. How can i play one character who does both of it? I heard that you have to pay gold to respec / reskill. Is it common to just reset everything when you switch gamemode or just want to play other things?

Thanks for answers !

Race reactions

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 07:11 PM PDT

I am currently playing through the divine inquires quest as a Dunmer and when I asked Seryn who the Nerevarine is, she said "you don't know? But I thought.. No you aren't an ashlander and the House elves don't speak of such things." this caught me off guard because most people have told me this game isn't immersive. I personally am loving it so far and this just made me love it more, as small a touch as it is. Are there any other instances where NPCs react to your race?

I would love an expansion with ships and the endless seas around Tamriel!

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 08:21 AM PDT

Imagine an instanced, open world place, a sea. You can go there at the docks when you interact with your own ship! ou could hire your crew or play with your mates, kill the sea monsters of the Elder Scrolls universe, fight with other alliances, haul rare goods, board NPC ships, upgrade your own or anything that a content like this could give! IMO it would add much more to the Elder Scrolls universe with a very unique way.

By the way the idea came from the docks at the main cities. There are multiple small, mid and big ass ships around and looks so good. :D

The older the Elder Scroll hero, the stronger they seem.

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 02:49 PM PDT

I haven't played Arena; past leaving the tutorial, or Daggerfall; I can't beat the tutorial, so I can't really speak to their heroes, but it seems like the main hero gets weaker as time moves forward.

  • ESO the farthest back we can play - The main character seems incredibly powerful he/she "fought a Daedric Prince!" plus many other awesome feats of skill/magic, and I've only just started playing. I really feel powerful as I play.

  • Morrowind - I don't know about you, but I felt very powerful as the Neriverine! The magic and flight abilities alone made me feel more powerful than subsequent MC's. Not to mention that you can literally "Fight the Tribunal and at least one daedra."

  • Oblivion - I defiantly felt less powerful overall than Morrowind, yet I still felt strong in the game. However even "becoming a Daedric Prince was very underwhelming without mods."

  • Skyrim - I never felt overly strong in Skyrim. You really don't do anything overly impressive that wasn't surpassed by your predecessors. While the DLC helped, even that never made me feel as if the Dragonborn was all that strong.

What are your opinions on this?

tl;dr: The effects of dish soap on Mud-crabs

[Discussion]When do we get the other races?

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 01:25 AM PDT

I understand right now that we have the base TES races that are playable in most of the other games, but we are talking Tamriel here in the olden days, where we have a lot of the other races around and still relatively common. So, I'm curious if anyone else wants the other races included? I mean it is unlikely we will get: Ayleids (still alive!), Dwemers (Some are...alive), or Falmer (lots still around!). But why can't we get: Maormers, Imgas, Minotaurs, Sloads, Dremora, or any of the OTHER Khajit races? The Khajit especially, I have never understood why Bethesda has put so much though and effort into their lore but only show one "uncommon" subrace in games.

Fear and Loathing of Vet Dungeons (Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Difficulty)

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 09:27 AM PDT

Played the game for about a year, loving it. Always been timid about trying veteran dungeons after reading about how difficult they are, how hard the mechanics are, DPS requirements, PUG horror stories, etc. Well I recently hit a decent CP level and decided it was time to dive in.

Well I took the plunge and let me tell you: I've had SUCH a blast doing these vet dungeons. It's a huge sense of accomplishment and reward to down that final boss and claim some awesome gear. After sticking to easy-cheesy dungeons for months (CoA 1, FG1, etc) I've done: Scalecaller Peak, White Gold Tower, Blessed Crucible, Tempest Island, Direfrost Keep, and more, all on veteran difficulty. I've got a ton of new Undaunted busts, monster set masks, and gear to show for it. All done with random groups too. So if you're like me and were unsure if you could do it, just try it. If you fail, so what? The best way to learn and get better is to try!

P.S. - to the random guy who gave me the powered SPC resto staff last night - if you're reading this, you're awesome.

Bought the game on PS4 but can't play it. Any clues?

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 07:46 PM PDT

I downloaded the game during the free week, now it's telling me I need to buy it so I did. I got the summerset upgrade for 29.99 which was supposed to give me access to play morrowind but now I still have the same "thanks for playing for free" screen asking me to go buy the game. Any ideas?
