CS:GO - Trading Update Megathread

Trading Update Megathread

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 08:02 AM PDT

Hi friends,

We've just had a pretty big update, specifically regarding trading. This thread will act as a megathread for all your discussiony needs. Please don't post your opinions and thoughts as individual threads as that's starting to create some serious clutter/spam.

Revisiting Trade

Steam trading was created to allow customers to easily exchange items with each other, and each day we see thousands of customers using Steam Trading in this way. Recently we've been looking into ways to reduce some negative unintended uses of trading in CS:GO (such as fraud and scams), with the goal of preserving trade between players.

Starting today, CS:GO items received in trade will have the same seven-day trade cooldown as items purchased in-game or via the Steam Community Market.

Over time, third-parties have developed services that use automated Steam accounts to mimic players and make use of Steam's trading functionality. Unfortunately, some of these third party services have become a vector for fraud or scams. Unlike players, these services rely on the ability to trade each item very frequently. In contrast, a given item moves between actual players no more than once a week in the vast majority of cases.

We want to make sure that Steam item trading is a useful feature that continues to provide customers with the freedom to give and receive items as they wish. However, we realize today's change may also be disruptive to some players. We'll continue to evaluate trading policies as time goes on, and if you have any feedback or concerns about the change you can email us at CSGOTeamFeedback [at] valvesoftware.com.

With 590 days, Autimatic becomes Cloud9's longest tenured player.

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 12:18 PM PDT

As Stewie2k (809 days) and Skadoodle (1,066 days) depart Cloud9's roster, Autimatic becomes the organizations longest tenured CS:GO player with a total of 590 days active. Stewie2k leaves after almost doubling the amount of time spent by Cloud9 legend Sean Gares. Who despite reaching 3 finals, only compiled a total of 460 days throughout 2014-2015 . Skadoodle falls just short of n0thing for the most time spent in the lineup, who was active for 1,110 days.

Out of the Cloud9 lineup that once made the finals of three tournaments in the summer of 2015, Freakazoid is the only one still playing competitively. Managing to frag well in the ESL Mountain Dew League with org-less team "Swole Patrol". Sean Gares, n0thing, Shroud, and Skadoodle are currently inactive or have retired.

As of now, Freakazoid is the only active player remaining from Cloud9's historic "Summer Run" of 2015.

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 12:32 PM PDT

Playing in the ESL Mountain Dew League with Org-less team "Swole Patrol", Freakazoid is the only member of the famous 2015 Cloud9 roster to still be playing CS:GO competitively at any level. Skadoodle, Sean Gares, n0thing, and shroud are all inactive, or have completely retired. Crazy how a lineup which began writing the book on modern North American Counter Strike are no longer at the helm.

Before we freak out about whoever C9 picks up... just remember how we acted when C9 announced the Stewie signing. Pimp and *Fugly* were seen as far better options by many.
