What's your relationship with the Thalmor? Posted: 07 Feb 2018 06:17 AM PST I couldn't care less about Ulfrick's dick waving contest. But there's something about the Thalmor that's pissing me off. The first time I saw any of them, they were watching the guards trying to chop me head off! Next time, there's one at the College spilling nonsense. And then there's a whole fort of them hiding an old lady's beloved son. [link] [comments]

Skyrim VR issue: Attacks cannot reach the enemy Posted: 07 Feb 2018 04:36 AM PST Hi! New issue I've had lately and I imagine it's related to tracking but I can't seem to correct it and am hoping someone has advice. I play with daggers and the problem initially appeared with Dragons. Their hit box seems to be much smaller than their model, causing my swings not to connect even when I'm as close as can be to the enemey. I can only kill Dragons while they are throwing a breath pr biting at me, extending their heads forward and out of their closed-off model... area thing. The tail is always free game. But lately, exploring Blackreach, I find myself swinging my dagger through Falmer heads, as close as I can be to them, and hits rarely connect in a similar way as for dragons. Anyone have tips for this issue? This and right-move tracking has definitely been the stain on the experience (game is amazing anyways). [link] [comments]

To People with Qualms About Joining the Dark Brotherhood Posted: 07 Feb 2018 03:14 AM PST When I first joined the Dark Brotherhood and got the first contracts, I scuttled the questline because I couldn't get why I should kill certain NPCs. I killed Grelod because she was tormenting those poor orphans but I just couldn't wrap my head around the actual contracts. Now after some time I gave it some thought and a realization occurred to me: the dragonborn (unless he/she is on a pacifist run) has absolutely no qualms killing bandits - who may or may not have done something incredibly evil or despicable to warrant a death. What if that bandit guarding embershard mine was forced into banditry - and it was his first day on the "job" he hasn't done anything criminal. The dragonborn comes up to him and straight up destroys him just because he was guarding the mine. Technically he gave the dragonborn fair warning and the dragonborn WAS intruding. Similarly, some radiant quests for bandits or giants or whatnot have the dragonborn perform what amounts to b&es and murders - for Jarls no less. It's just amusing that for many who have qualms about the DB had absolutely no trouble stacking bandit corpses any which way throughout his or her playthrough. I thus came to the realization that for bandits and the like the rationalization was instant (bandit=evil!) but for the DB quests it wasn't instant. The thing was the rationalization can still be done for those DB contracts even for a "good" charcter playthrough. For reference my preferred DB backstory now is how the Night Mother spoke to the dragonborn when he met Cicero near Whiterun. The contracts are essentially -sanctioned- by the Night Mother to achieve a certain end - that could be RPd as ultimately altruistic (the deaths amount to saved lives) or self-serving (the deaths amount to the dragonborn amassing absurd amounts of power) or a mixture of both. Posted: 06 Feb 2018 07:16 PM PST I started a new permadeath run on the vanilla legendary difficulty setting (with disabled fast travel and iNees) as a merchant. My plan was initially to get decent gear by grinding merchant work and then set off to do quests but I realized something. As I eased into becoming a roaming merchant - I realized that I'm enjoying it far more than i expected for some strange reason. I think it has to do with the fact that there's still progression (albeit a different type - gold and speech and alchemy) and you get to appreciate more of the bigger cities in Skyrim. Also I think it also provides a way to RP the absurd damage nerf to the player on vanilla legendary difficulty - The player character has to work to overcome his combat handicap from the get go. The iNeed mod and the disabling of fast travel are neat additions too - it sort of provides the impetus for earning gold so that you can pay for fares, lodging, and food. Also it prevents just standing and waiting for 24 hour blocks. It was also hilarious when I rode a carriage to Falkreath, realized i can't ride a carriage out of Falkreath, and had to walk back to Riverwood. I was chased by wolves until i had the wherewithal to jump into the river. [link] [comments]
I really hope I’m not just completely oblivious Posted: 06 Feb 2018 11:21 PM PST I've always known the falmer are blind and what-not but it never registered that you could literally stand right in friggin front of them and they don't detect you. Seriously you don't even have to have a high level of sneak to just crouch and walk right through groups of them. I've been through so much stress over fighting these things. I don't know if I should feel like an idiot or be happy I don't have to fight them too much anymore. [link] [comments]

Silver Ore duping... stumbled on this by accident Posted: 07 Feb 2018 07:09 AM PST Some background info on how I found this little exploit. I'm playing vanilla on Switch; early in the game, the best way to make money is through making jewelry/enchanting it. The cheaper gems are a lot easier to find than the ones that you make with gold, so I've been using Transmute to turn all my iron ore to silver. Transmute works first by turning silver ore into gold, then iron into silver. Bonus, you can find it just northwest of Whiterun, so it's a great early money-making spell you can start before you even say hi to the Greybeards or your first dragon. So, in order to keep me from having a ton of gold that doesn't make me as much as silver jewelry right now, I started making the silver, then dropping it once piece at a time by the smelter in Whiterun. I had my follower pick it up, so it's not transmuting. Triple threat: Building alteration, smithing, and making money. Lo and behold, however, the next time I loaded whiterun, all the silver ore I'd made my follower pick up was sitting there in a nice, 30+ strong pile. I haven't tested this anywhere but in Whiterun, with Uthgerd, nor with the gold (yet.) Only tested on Switch, too. Feel free to test, and report back with what combinations seem to work for you.
