The fact that people are comparing modern RPGs to Skyrim, nearly seven years after release, goes to show how freaking amazing Skyrim is.

My hope for future Elder Scrolls games

Stop nerf'ing magic. Somehow everyone forgot how to create new spells in the time between Oblivion and Skyrim, casting takes forever, damage numbers are laughable (without complex stacking of potions/buffs) compared to upgraded and enchanted weapons. I know they wanted to make it a more action hack n slash game, but the total deconstruction of magic in the games from Morrowind (levitate!) on through Skyrim is kind of depressing, and I can't understand the lore reasons for magic taking such a decline, if there actually are any.

It shouldn't take mods to make it part of the game world again.

Grinding techniques

Posted: 22 Feb 2018 03:48 AM PST

Some quick and easy ways to grind skills. Alteration, smithing, enchanting and speech: Find a bunch of iron/silver ore (plenty of mines to choose from) and transmute them all to gold. forge a ton of necklaces and rings and enchant as many as you can, then sell them all and start again. Illusion: Muffle raises the skill weirdly fast so spamming it when out of combat is a fast grind. Conjuration: Spam Soul Trap on your horse. It won't turn hostile and it'll raise the skill fairly quickly. Block, restoration, heavy/light armour: Find a low damage enemy like a bandit or a mudcrab and sit there blocking and healing yourself and them if necessary. The block skill doesn't raise faster by blocking more powerful hits so weak enemies are perfect for grinding. Sneak: Simply sneak behind Hadvar/Ralof in Helgen keep and you could potentially leave with 100 sneak (If your that patient). Also works with guards as they often stand in one place or walk in straight lines. Lockpicking: The Thieves Guild has a room in the cistern with five chests, one for each lock level that can be used for training. They reset every few days. Anyone have any others?
