Is it just me or is Siege losing its original charm?

I've been playing Siege since it came out, and I can't help but feel that the things that once drew me to the game are slowly dwindling away with every new season. One of the biggest things that I liked about vanilla Siege was the chess-like strategy in attack and defense, which was kind of adopted from CS in a way, but then made even better. Defender's guns were for the most part weaker than attackers' (except for maybe a couple like Jager's and the SMG-11 with Acog), so the defenders had to rely on their gadgets and clever defensive strategies to win rounds - this is what made Siege so great for me - the gadgets and unique operators were the primary focus, and the gunfights were secondary, a sort of means to an end. I get a particular pleasure out of watching MacieJay's videos, for example - for the most part they highlight the cool creative thinking that I love about this game.

With every new DLC, however, I feel like this aspect of Siege is quickly fading. Creative defensive tactics are now replaced with overpowered DLC operators and cheesy tactics like dropshotting and spawnpeeking, turning Siege into yet another generic FPS in some scenarios. What I loved about games like vanilla siege and CS:GO, the attack and defense, the ebb and flow of tactics and overcoming weaknesses, the quick thinking in tense situations, has now just become, for the most part, a battle of who can hold the tightest corner and who can use their ping advantage to "outskill" the other player.

This is partly why I, and I'm sure some of you, dislike Ela so much. It's not just that her gun holds a ton of ammo - it's that in many cases it outclasses attacker weapons. She has a tiny hitbox (another problem with some of the DLC ops - I think there was only Ash in vanilla Siege that had such a small hitbox, now we have a ton of ops that are 3 speeds and are practically impossible to hit), a overpowered weapon (even with the nerfs), and a decidedly offensive gadget (compare this to another roamer, Jager, who's gadget is meant to be defensive - protect the defenders - rather than offensive - give the defenders an edge in a firefight), even though she's supposed to be a defensive operator. I as an attacker am afraid to push in many cases if I see an enemy Ela on the team because my attacking advantage in terms of weaponry or gadgets is practically nonexistent - this break in the balance between defending and attacking is a problem, and while many DLC operators add a new, cool dimension to defensive play (Mira, for example, is a really cool defensive operator IMO), a lot of others break this balance which made the game unique and fun, in my opinion, in favor of one-upping the previous DLC characters (I assume in order to sell Season Passes).

This is not to say that I don't enjoy Siege - I still find the game enjoyable to a certain extent, I just wish that it would go back to its roots rather than become yet another generic shooter - I want the operators and their gadgets to become the focus again, not just the firefights where it's a constant struggle for "who can jiggle peak the best" or "who has the smallest hitbox".

Just my two cents - I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Is Tower not fun at all for anybody else?

Every single person I play with hates this map. It's pretty well-balanced, but I think the map just sucks to play on.

I'd much rather have Hereford Base or Kanal back in Ranked than Tower. It's very boring.

Between the Chimera trailers and the Article 5 cinematics, we NEED a story mode, or at least a series of animated shorts.

They're well written, well acted and the "cinematography" is exceptional. Plus the characters themselves are all really interesting and it would just be great to see them interact beyond a few in-game dialogue snippets. Imagine fleshing out Ela and Zöe's rivalry, or Blackbeard and Vigil's friendship, or finding out what the bet between Smoke and Lesion is? Someone at Ubi NEEDS to make this a reality

IQ's jeans are a smooth model, thus any Uniform that uses a solid color for the lower body turns her jeans into a barely disguised pair of yoga pants.
