This Community Day Might Have Been the Best Event To Date

Posted: 24 Feb 2018 04:22 PM PST

The turnout for today's event was utterly unrivaled, and for good reason. This event was well executed, well balanced, and hunting for shinies provides its own kind of thrill. This was the first event to almost clear my entire inventory of berries and balls, and it was well worth it.

Community day has a TON of potential, and I really hope that these events keep going for months to come. I don't praise Niantic often, but they've really outdone themselves with this one.

What did everyone else think of the event? Any fun stories to share?

Excellent job on this event Niantic! [discussion]

I had no problem finding dratinis constantly even just in a ~2 block radius in my neighborhood. I caught five (!!!!) shinies when I would've been happy with just one. My absolute favorite part of this was the lures, lasting 3 hours and spawning almost exclusively dratini: well worth 100 coins! This event was exactly what it was advertised as, and I am really glad I got to participate. My one 'even better yet' comment would be that I was a little disappointed with incense, as I dropped one and didn't have one dratini spawn. But with the rest of these spawn rates and the lures, that's not a big deal. Hope everybody else had a similarly good time!

Made a bunch of these for Community Day. Leaving them around town for people to find.

Picked up this adorable fan-art that a fellow trainer left during the event. Thanks, stranger!

Thank you for the Community Day, Niantic!

Today has been awesome thanks to the event! Normally, in my neighborhood, I am the only one walking around playing. Today I went out set to collect as many Dratini as I could. Before today, I have always been a solo player, fighting T1 and T2 raids, catching pokemon, and having my gyms taken by spoofers. But while I was out today, I met my first fellow PoGo players since the glorious days back in 2016 when it was super popular. We banded up, and took on my first T4 raid, a Tyranitar, and we actually beat it! On top of the mass Dratini spawns (I got 2 Dragonites, one of which is shiny!), this moment was by far the best PoGo moment I have ever had. Now we started a little PoGo group, and hope to tackle Groudon, Kyogre, and/or Rayquaza.

Thanks for improving my game experience with just a single event. Really makes me want to play more.

First Dragonite (90% IV) because of this event. I’m a casual player but this made me want to play again. (Level 25)

No complaints, just a safe space to joke about it and pretend we don't care while we die a little bit inside.

So I caught 110 dratini and 0 shiny, ain't that fun 😁.
