Pokémon GO - Rule Reminder! Users old and new, please read!

Rule Reminder! Users old and new, please read!

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 10:17 AM PST

Good day trainers!

We are coming to you today with this reminder regarding our rules. Users old and new should take a look at this post as a review never hurts. Today we'll be talking about Non-AR screenshots, 3rd party applications/services, and posts without PoGO assets/direct connections to the game.

Lately we've been seeing a lot of posts that violate some pretty basic and well established rules. The first rule that is still broken daily is one that's caused a lot of discussion since the game's release; I'm talking about Non-AR screenshots. Non AR screenshots are screenshots of the game that are not using the Augmented Reality mode. Our rule currently states that only link post screenshots we allow are AR ones. All other non-AR screenshots must be inserted into a text post. If you don't do this, your post will be removed.

Our next rule that we want to go over is rule 3 regarding 3rd party applications and services. As you all know we have a hard stance against cheating and promoting it in our subreddit (whatever you do or use on your time is on you but don't post about it here). However, we've been seeing an influx of users recommending 3rd party services in our subreddit. That needs to stop as we explicitly do not allow that behavior. You may think that the service or app you are using is fine because it's not violating the TOS, well to that end we'd like to share this tweet from Niantic support.Tweet from Niantic Support regarding 3rd party application support. So TO MAKE IT VERY CLEAR, OUR SUBREDDIT DOES NOT ALLOW THE NAMING OF ANY 3RD PARTY APPLICATIONS OR SERVICES. If you do this, you risk your posting/commenting privileges in this subreddit.

Finally, I want to talk to you about link posts that aren't directly connected to PoGO/aren't using assets. Our subreddit has a history of users posting anything and everything to do with pokemon, but that's not acceptable. We require that the content of our link posts have an easily identifiable connection to the game(includes some kind of asset from the game or has some reference to something that can only be found in the game as opposed to being a generic pokemon thing). So when you make a link post make sure that connection is easily seen; don't go posting a picture of a bison saying "Look a Tauros IRL", it will get removed.

Thanks for reading and for being awesome members.

Why Can’t We See The Raid Timer After I Complete A Raid?

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 03:07 PM PST

Seems silly for the raid timer and info to disappear after finishing a Raid. Even the Sightings Tab doesn't keep the info. It'd be nice to know how long I need to hang around after a Raid to be able to battle the gym or feed berries.

[SCREENSHOT] I've taken on the Wailmer 400 candy challenge as incentive to walk more and get in better shape. Today was a good day.

To everyone looking for a little motivation, or to folks who get discouraged when facing what looks like an uphill battle: stick with it! If I can walk nearly 100 km and grind out 400 candies for Wailmer, you can do anything!

[Question] It's just a game, why do people get SO upset over some of the pettiest things in a GAME?!

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 09:12 PM PST

Does the madness never end?!

The constant pissing and moaning about not getting coins and getting pokemon back a few hours after placing them. In my opinion, you should play the game how its designed. If Niantic wanted everyone to wait 8 hours so we could all get 50 coins a day, they'd have a gym lock or something, Idk. I shouldn't have to cater to everyone or slow down becasue I play "too aggressively." Keep an eye on your gym, berry you pokemon, or its being taken. I shouldn't have to follow a community set of "rules." If I don't, I'm kicked from group chat and don't have people for high tier raids.

Can anyone relate to this?

Edit: I, in no way, shape, or form, have intended or intend to disrespect anyone. I just want the constant crying to quiet down. Don't the player, you know?

An in depth Analysis of what factors are at play in your odds of getting an ex raid pass

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 08:36 PM PST

I set out to assess some of the myths around who gets an ex raid pass and who didn't. I surveyed people from facebook groups (500-7000 members/group) and our large discord group (>2000 users) from around South Australia. I sent out surveys after ex raid passes went out for 3 waves in a row (we dont have sponsored gyms so this is park data only). I collected about 290 responses total. Wave 1 was for ex raids on the of 9th of Jan, Wave 2 for ex raids on the 16th of Jan, and Wave 3 was for ex raids on the 24th Jan. I have presented data as "% got pass" (overall pass rate for the variable) and % got pass only raid (isolating respondents who only did the one raid for each variable). Took a couple of weeks to analyse as some of the scoring was manual

I looked at player level, gym badge, total raids, recent raid activity, day raided before pass handout, lobbys size, number of lobbies, tier.

I also looked into the raid times and make some general trigger observations

To read the full report see https://drive.google.com/open?id=1e7AJwGGEpVe10qa8HzJyMMPA566A4ynE I graphed a lot of the data so couldnt easily copy and paste the whole report in here. Plus it's 12 pages.

Hopefully folks find this interesting

Anyone else finally not walking around barefoot?

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 10:15 AM PST

I've been barefoot in the game since starting because all the male shoes just looked too goofy. The new fishman's boots are welcome addition though, finally something clunky to stomp around in. The watch is also nice for people who don't wear gloves.

Fun fact, all medals that involve catching a specific Pokemon type are named after an NPC. So we probably can expect those cloth sets too.

NPCs:

  • Schoolboy.
  • Bird Keeper.
  • Punk Girl.
  • Ruin Maniac.
  • Bug Catcher.

  • Hex Maniac.
  • Rocker.
  • Skier.
  • Delinquent.
  • Fairy Tale Girl.

I envy anyone with a rock throw/rock slide omastar.

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 03:20 PM PST

I really do envy you guys. There's no other moveset like it for rock types. I've seen it in action at the hands of my sudowoodo and it irritates me that I was never lucky enough to get one with that kind of a moveset.

Sudowoodo is the only pokémon I know out right now with those moves and even though I actually like sudo it just doesn't have what it takes to be a champ. Maybe under the next battle system? I have a 91% with a high CP that rocks. Pardon the pun.

Since I'm on the subject of rock types, aerodactyl and kabutops need relevancy. Those rather high attack stats have been going to waste since gen1 and it's sick. Just putting that out there.

[Question] CP or IV's when Evolving, what's your choice and why?

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 09:26 AM PST

Just curious. I'm always torn between going for the high IV but then being disappointed by the Move Set versus a high CP but also potentially poor Move Set.

I used to go by IV percentage, but now I just go in the order caught.
