[LORE THEORY] A Wheelchair Just Appeared On Lijang Control Center

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 06:16 AM PST

It must have been added super recently because neither the Lunar New Year CTF or the regular CTF versions of Control Center have the wheelchair, instead they have a regular chair, the same as in the office on the other side of the map. Seems like only regular Control Center got updated with the wheelchair. I never seen it before.

Why would anyone need a wheelchair in a world where everyone has access to quality prosthetics and general body enhancement thingies.

Maybe it's the office of someone really really old? Or someone in recovery after a trauma and who only needs it for a short amount of time? Maybe someone with a disability, someone paralyzed or someone who lost arms/legs in an accident/war who refuses to make use of science to remedy their problems (like Ana, who could have her eye back but refuses to undergo surgery because "it's a good reminder").

And what about that picture in what seems to be Harold Winston's office? How could he have brought back a picture of himself and young monkey other scientist Winston if he died in Horizon Lunar Colony like the story says

"The other apes banded together and rose up against the scientists, killing them and taking the facility for themselves. Included in the death toll was Winston's caretaker, Dr. Harold Winston. Winston didn't want to be involved with it and built himself a rocket and escaped the colony to Earth."

This picture was clearly taken ON Horizon. If Harold died, who put the picture in this frame? Winston himself after he landed on Earth? But why, surely after Harold's death, Winston wouldn't have been welcome in Lucheng Interstellar. And even if he was welcome, why put the picture in the office of your dead friend, who's never going to be back in his office. Cuz he dieded. That feels weird. Maybe Harold brought the picture himself when he went back to Earth during a routine back and forth to bring equipment from Earth to the moon base? But why put it in an office he obviously doesn't spend a lot of time in, if any, since his mission is on the Moon? Maybe Harold sent the picture to an assistant or colleague and asked them to frame that picture for when he'd be back on Earth? But why is the picture still there, surely after his death, his office would have been given to someone else working for Lucheng Interstellar....unless, he's not dead.

x-files theme plays

If Harold is alive and still working at Lucheng, then surely Winston knows about it. Maybe they escaped together. Not saying HAROLD HERO27 CONFIRMED. But it sure raises many questions. Did Harold and Winston escape together? After all, only Harold's spacesuit is missing on Horizon. It looks like everyone else either died or is still living in fear, barricaded in a secured area of Horizon that the apes cannot access.

Here's an album of all the lore on Horizon Lunar Colony I made. Enjoy !

I made a discord dedicated to lore hunting, if you're into that kind of thing, feel free to join !!

https://discord.gg/9F4n5g8

Thanks for reading, see you in the comments ! Please no cheesy joke about ana being so old she needs a wheelchair, I got you guys covered :D

Edit : The wheelchair clue was brought up by planetlyfe on my discord and /u/whatsshimada here on reddit !!

Edit 2 : u/undeadfish mentionned that the scientists on Horizon could have had a rotation system. That implies Harold wouldn't have been on Horizon all year long but might only be there for 6 months or so and thus would have been coming back to Earth frequently during his mission. Still doesn't explain why the picture is still on his desk if he's dead, but good theory nonetheless !

Edit 3 : u/ColtFireball/@HighscoreHeroes on Twitter and on Youtube noticed there was a hand print on the desk where the wheelchair is !! It doesn't look like a human hand. It very well could be a monkey hand ! A monkey that the person in the wheelchair was meeting with? Hammond???

EDIT 4 : THE PLOT THICKENS. There is a BLOOD TRAIL coming from the wheelchair office going all around the map and leading finally to Harold Winston's office where it ends. Credit to u/whatsshimada once more for noticing the blood stains!! AND the bloodtrail can be seen on the Lunar New Year version of Control Center ! So is the hand print on each desk ! The trail and the prints MIGHT have been around since launch. Still needs proving. But apparently only the wheelchair is really new.

Edit 5 : u/CetZiZ claims he remembers seeing the wheelchair back in September. Honestly, no one ever goes in those side rooms on this map so it could be true, the wheelchair could have been around for a while. Waiting for screenshots or gameplay from months ago to confirm this ! 5 people have told me they've seen the wheelchair months ago so it's pretty much confirmed at this point (although we still don't know when exactly it first appeared), but still looking for proof !

Edit 6 : u/DesuYessu noticed similar bloodstains on Horizon Lunar Colony Very likely to be in the spots where some of the scientists got killed by the specimens, seeing how the stains are around places where the scientists would hang out/work. Probably killed right where they were when the specimens jumped them. Making me really sad about this bloodbath we still know nothing about but glad someone noticed them ! Doesn't look like there's a trail but we're still looking ! The fact it's the same bloodstains on both maps means the killing/hurting in both maps are linked somehow. Human-monkey violence. On HLC we can tell it's the monkeys who killed humans but on Control Center, it could be the other way around !

The "hinted at" from Jeff Kaplan may not be related to the Hero 27 itself, it's just its release date! (Wheelchair mystery, Liao becoming a plausible candidate)

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 04:08 PM PST

Looking back at all the investigation around Hero 27 after the discovery of this mysterious wheelchair (https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/7x0zx0/lore_theory_a_wheelchair_just_appeared_on_lijang/), I thought at first that it will only become useful later as a stepping stone for a future lore. In addition, this discovery relaunches the speculation around Liao as the upcoming Hero, that at the moment thought was not plausible due to the fact that Liao wasn't "hinted at" as Jeff said.

And that is where I think we may have gone too far ahead thinking that they would give us a hint like they did for Moira, which was a complete surprise for everybody.

Jeff only said about Hero 27 that "A surprise that has perhaps been hinted at." So, what if the " surprise that has perhaps been hinted at." from Jeff Kaplan is only the date of the official release of Hero 27, which will be March 20th based on the current hints: - Junkertown : https://imgur.com/a/3YCFP L03-20J - Hollywood : https://gyazo.com/31fac540d70556a5817bf3de11886f9f 03.20.27

It seems very strange to have 4 numbers on two different maps written in the exact same order. And to go even further, I think that supposing that this "hint" was only about the the release date, it opens up the gate for the high possibility for Liao to be Hero 27.

Why Liao would be the perfect candidate for Hero 27:

1/ We just discovered a modification in the lore (wheelchair) on Lijiang Tower. Liao has a Chinese name and thus, it has a very high chance to be related to the only Chinese map of the game. Just like Genji and Hanzo are both Japanese and related to Hanamura. Heroes in overwatch are often highly related to their country of origin. The most recent example is in Honor and Glory, with Reinhardt shown in Eichenwalde, Germany.

2/ The mystery around Liao (his/her physical appearance and history) make the wheelchair an easy element of the lore to introduce as we have never seen anything related to it based on our current knowledge of the lore.

3/ Based on the "surprise that has been hinted at", we have two elements: 03.20.27 and L03-20J. We assume that the common component forms the release date of the Hero which will be March 20th. Then, what is left is I believe 27 for Hero 27 and L.J, the initials of the first name and last name of Hero 27. As Liao is Chinese, it's normal to put his/her surname at first Liao J.... I can't find another character that will fit for these initials.

4/ The current event is the Chinese New Year, and what could be a better fit than a Chinese Hero as the New Hero that will be teased just after the event.

5/ Liao was one of the founding members of the Overwatch. We already have done the first year of hero releases and he/she is the only missing hero from the founding members.

Thank you for reading :D

My crazy double direct impact D.Va bomb

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 02:06 PM PST

I am a trash player.

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 12:15 PM PST

A year ago, I posted that I was a terrible Overwatch player. I just thought that maybe I just needed to practice more and look at guides, etc. I am now fully convinced that I am an elite trash player and I feel like I maybe ruining this game for others. For those that were my teammates, my sincerest apologies.

I have hard time distinguishing from friends and foes in this game. Last time I played, I ulted as Soldier 76 and kept shooting at Tracer. She wasn't dying. It was only after I died and watched the replay I realized that it was a Tracer from my own team. Heck, the enemy didn't even have a Tracer. That was the catalyst that made me stop and realize that I am not just a bad player, I am a total trash.

Folks, I am trash. Wish I could improve but I might be a lost cause and it might be too late. Ladies and non-ladies, if there was a trash player among trash, it's me.

I was always trash, I am trash, and I will remain trash.

Thank you.

Thank you, Overwatch League, for making me experience one of the best weekends of my life

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 02:44 AM PST

It was spur of the moment when I bought the tickets, but I figured for my 30th birthday (gross...) I had to do something big, and the end of Stage 1 of OWL just happened to be on my birthday weekend, so I flew out to California for the first time ever, and went to the Blizzard Arena to witness the best matches I've ever seen in this game, and it was so crazy being there!

I was lucky enough to get a front row seat to the playoffs. I was rooting for Huston, and I'm very proud of them for making it to that level of the competition. I met Jake; pretty awesome guy. Even after the loss, he still came out to greet the Outlaw fans, sign posters and jerseys, and take pictures.

I was also rooting for New York, but I have to congratulate London for their win, and I'm sure as I speak, they're still cleaning up that confetti.

Afterwards I explored the BEAUTIFUL city of L.A., went to the beach, took a stroll though Beverly Hills, and just took in the sights of those amazing mountains.

I had an awesome time! Traveling over there was worth every penny, and I thank the staff at the arena for their amazing hospitality, and Blizzard for prompting me to come out there. Good luck to all the teams in Stage 2!

P.S. - Rawkus's ass is even bigger in person.

Blizzard, can we get an e-mail/text alert at 24 and 6 hours prior to comp decay kicking in?

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 08:45 AM PST

Sometimes I'm not actively on Overwatch or I entirely forget about decay because I get busy working on something else, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone on this boat.

It would be a huge QoL fix for me to get regular warnings when my account's about to decay, so that I can try to work some time in.

Of course, it should be on an opt-in basis; players can choose not to subscribe to alerts if they don't want to. Maybe you could even add a convenient in-game checkbox that allows players to easily opt-in/out to the alerts.

Edit: Wow this blew up lol
