| Posted: 14 Feb 2018 06:58 AM PST Other status effects that impair enemies and set up easier kills are fairly easily noticeable, namely anti-heal and discord. Anti-heal makes the enemy's health bar purple and puts a purple anti-heal symbol right over it. Discord similarly puts a purple orb over the enemy's head, with purple tendrils around the enemy's body. Meanwhile, hack puts red swirls around enemies...who are already outlined in red...and have red health bars. Point being, it's very difficult to see in the middle of combat. Sure, the Sombra should be calling out the hack anyway, but as we all know, communication isn't always taken advantage of in this game. Plus, it's easy to miss a call-out during a fight if you have other concerns at that moment. What's strange is that the visuals for hacked health packs and hacked turrets are way better. Allies can see hacked health packs through walls and they're marked with a nice purple skull. Similarly, when turrets get hacked they get the purple skulls over them as well (yes, every individual Symm turret will get one). The only easy way to see if an enemy has been hacked is if they happen to have their ult ready, in which case the little check mark is very noticeable. However, this isn't a reliable indicator, as the ult status will display for 20 seconds (significantly longer than the 6 second duration of hack on enemies); and of course, an enemy won't always have their ult available. So, what's the solution? I think there are a few options. You could use the purple skull indicator already available. Only difficulty there might be the visual clutter if an enemy is also discorded, for instance. Another option is to change the red swirls to a more noticeable color. If you want to avoid purple due to anti and discord already using it, maybe use the bright, "glitch" green that was used on the hacked health packs initially? That'd certainly be noticeable. tl;dr: Hacked enemies need to be more visible. Give us the purple skull over hacked enemies' heads and/or make the red swirls a different, more noticeable color. | Overwatch PTR Patch Notes – February 14, 2018 Posted: 14 Feb 2018 11:10 AM PST PTR Patch Notes for 1.20.0.0.43609 via the Blizzard App: Overwatch PTR Patch Notes – February 14, 2018A new Overwatch patch is currently in development and now available for testing. To share your feedback or report and issue, please post in the PTR Feedback or PTR Bug Report forums. Please note that the below patch notes only include changes currently available for testing on the PTR. While many of these changes will also be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in a future patch, the PTR is PC-only and therefore will only reflect changes coming specifically to that platform. HERO UPDATESDoomfist
Developer Comment: This change will help Doomfist more consistently be able to use his weapon as part of his combos. Mei
Developer Comment: Increasing Mei's slow duration helps her freeze targets that are particularly elusive such as Genji or Lúcio. Lowering her alternate fire ammo cost allows her to more safely use it without costing her the ability to freeze enemies. Sombra
Developer Comment: The goal of these changes for Sombra is to remove the necessity for her teammates to take damage and heal themselves with her hacked heath packs to try to get her ultimate charged up quickly. Her ultimate will now come up less often, but there are more abilities that are disabled by Hack so it is more effective when used. Previously, Opportunist would only activate when an enemy's health bar dipped below 50% but now the passive will reveal all damaged enemies which should help Sombra identify targets to pick off. Overall these changes should make her more effective and less reliant on her ultimate. USER INTERFACE UPDATESMercy
Developer Comment: This helps remove some clutter from Mercy players' screens when they use her ultimate [link] [comments] | ||

| Will Dragon Symmetra ever get her voicelines from Junkenstein's Revenge? Posted: 14 Feb 2018 06:07 AM PST During Halloween Terror 2017, if you played a custom JR match and you picked Symmetra (with her Dragon skin), she had completely new lines for almost every ability. "Casting a sentry ward" "I summon you" "the dragons fire consumes all" are just a few I remember. These voice lines never saw the light of day for her skin outside of the event. Will she ever get the voicelines? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 14 Feb 2018 11:03 AM PST Even in her highlight intro, the whole point is the person is still awake when she does the "shh" gesture. Pharah:"Mom what is that gun loaded with?" Ana:"No worries dear, it just shoots sleep darts" Dr. Ziegler:"She's lying, it shoots a fast acting and highly specialized paralytic toxin that temporarily allows the victim to see everything going on around them, but they completely lose muscle control of their entire body until an external stimulus shocks their system. It can be horrifying as victims watch those around them die on the battle field, unable to help." Ana:"Go to sleep." pft [link] [comments] | ||

| The JunkerQueen will be hero 27, lemme convince you why. Posted: 14 Feb 2018 12:17 PM PST Introduction: We know that hero 27 is not a stranger. Whoever they are, we already know them, or at the very least, we know of them. [Source] Hint 1: Jeff hinted at the JunkerQueen recently. Someone said "JunkerQueen would be nice to have as the next hero" and Jeff said "She is soooo not nice". [Source]. There's two things he could have disputed there - either that she isn't the next hero, or that she isn't nice. The fact that he chose the latter suggests that she's the next hero. Also, put yourself in Jeff's shoes. He was on the forums that day to talk about Sombra, Mei, and Sym changes. He sees a thread about the JunkerQueen, and decides to make a cryptic comment there. Not in the threads about Hammond or Sanjay [of which there have been many]. Why? Perhaps because he knows that she's hero 27 and will be revealed in a few weeks [early March expected], so it'd be good PR to build up hype? Hint 2: Way back in August 2017, during the Junkertown reveal, Jeff said "We want to explore these other groups like the Junkers, instead of just focusing on Overwatch and Talon. We hope this map will be just the tip of the iceburg for what's to come, for Junkrat, Roadhog, AND THE QUEEN." [Paraphrased, Source] Jeff and Chu both made a point to give us some backstory on the queen at the start of that video [here], and then pointedly mentioned her alongside two of the existing heros [Junk, Hog]. If she's not an upcoming hero that they were working on at the time, why does Jeff keep mentioning her? Has he ever done that, ever, with any other character? Coz functionally, at that point in time, she was no different that HAL-Fred Glitchbot, which [like her], says lines on a map based on where the payload is. If she wasn't lined up to a hero, bringing our attention to her seems kinda strange. Lore & kit synergy: Remember that the Queen is a mech fighter [Source], a background which lends itself well to a tank or off-tank role [could be an exoskeleton like so [example]. And we pretty much can be sure that 27 is gonna be some kind of tank. She can be 'molded' into that role more easily than, say, a tiny gorilla [Hammond] or a someone in a suit with a silhouette similar to Zarya [Sanjay]. Also, being the leader of a town fits nicely into the "protector" mindset that a tank needs to have. Plus, among her weapons are a flaming glaive and an electric spear [link] - some version of which could be made into a tank weapon [short range, high damage, peel potential]. And Jeff did say 27 was gonna be meta changing [aka anti-dive]. [Source] Lore & event synergy: We know that Junkrat found a valuable treasure in the ruins of the omnium, the very ruins from which Junkertown is now built. [Source] We know that the Queen knows of this, and is in hot pursuit of that treasure. [Source]. And we know that the devs are looking to bring a fresh take on Uprising this year, which will be "bigger" than last year's event. [Source]. If Uprising 2 is another omnic focused brawl instead of a blackwatch focused brawl, it could very well be set in a remodelled Junkertown [like how Uprising 1 was set in a remodeled King's row], chronicling the events leading up to the destruction of the omnium there. That in turn would give us some information on one of the two central mysteries of the lore - what happened during the 1st omnic crisis? [The other mystery is what happened at the Swiss HQ, which I don't think will be revealed anytime soon]. I mean, what other map could the new brawl be set on? They sure as hell aren't gonna make a new map for it - there's just not enough time to get it made by then. So what other map can really fit with the Uprising thing? Surely it's gotta be junkertown - after all, there are already molten, broken omnic corpses there. Just like King's Row, it already has lore tie-ins which make it a likely candidate for Uprising 2. And that in turn makes JunkerQueen being hero 27 more likely too. Similar to last year, where they released Orisa, and then used her in the Uprising event too. Development pace counter-argument: I know some have mentioned concerns that maybe she will be a hero some day, but not anytime soon, coz it takes too long to make, and Blizzard wouldn't be able to respond so quickly to the fanbase's demands for her. But maybe, she could have been lined up since Junkertown's relase. Maybe they aren't making her coz we love her - maybe we love coz they made her with the intention of eventually having her be a hero, and thus put a lot of appeal into her character from the getgo. Jeff did say that hero 27 "clicked into place very quickly" and that they were "working overtime to get it ready in time" [Paraphrased, Source]. Having a fast turnover on 27 makes a lot of sense if its the JunkerQueen. They already had a design, voice actor, character relationships, and a bunch of such stuff ready with Junkertown itself, which would cut down on the initial development time. Talon tank counterargument: As for Talon needing a tank, listen to her [link] and tell me Doomfist wouldn't see eye to eye with her. Whatever the treasure is, I betcha Talon wants to get their hands on it too - and they could make a deal with the Queen for it, which would nicely tie the Junkers into the central two factions of the story. So if Blizzard really wants to go down the path of a Talon tank, she can still very well fit that role. Wheelchair counterargument: People have been speculating about Hammond and Liao, based on the wheelchair at Lijiang tower. However, it has been confirmed to not be a recent addiction. Proof [link], which you can confirm yourself here [link]. Therefore, it is unlikely to be a lore clue for hero 27. Jeff trolling counterargument: It's not as if he trolls in earnest, ever. We saw with the yule log ["I need healing"] as well as the YOTD announcement ["least played"] that whenever he memes or trolls, he always makes it blatantly obvious - like a visual "/s" if you will. Coz like, he knows his word carries weight. And he knows exactly what his comment would be taken as. He has said before that the devs "choose their words carefully, coz they don't wanna accidentally promise something unintentionally." And yet, he decided to make that comment, randomly, on a day when he was on the forums mainly to talk about Mei, Sym, and Sombra. Why? Why would he do that if it were not a hint? Other candidates counterargument: Now, take all this, and weigh it against what hints we have for any other character being hero 27 - Sanjay : Voice actor who is a friend of Sym's voice actor followed the OW casting director, and we saw Sanjay at the Talon table with Moira. Sanjay, IMO, is the second strongest probability for 27. However, I am skeptical coz he doesn't have that hero personality that JunkerQueen already does, plus I feel like Blizzard wouldn't tease 27 in the exact same comic that they teased Moira in. Hammond : Some pawprints on Jijang tower control centre and Horizon lunar colony. This is really flimsy evidence, IMO. Liao : A license plate on Hollywood and Junkertown. Even flimsier evidence, and thus the most unlikely to be 27. Ares : A single set of words said by Jeff for dinoflask in the yule log. This is honestly just a honourable mention. Brigitte : Some fans have really liked her, but the demand isn't anywhere near close to the demand for JunkerQueen or Doomfist, and personally, I don't think she's likely to be a hero anytime soon. Conclusion : I think it is very, very likely that the JunkerQueen is hero 27, and of all the characters that have been suggested so far, she has the highest number of clues and reasons in her support. I will go as far as to bet that if she is not the next hero, she is still certainly going to be a hero before the end of 2018. Ps. Also I want her to be hero 27 coz I need a hot tankdomme like her. PPs. Before anyone else says it, yes, flair checks out. [link] [comments] | ||

| Sombra's patch notes Opportunist buff never made it to PTR Posted: 14 Feb 2018 11:52 AM PST Edit 2 - Geoff Goodman - Current Sombra in PTR
PTR Patch Notes say;
But this doesn't exist on PTR right now - https://gfycat.com/UntidyHeavyBufeo Side note, Sombra's Opportunist passive was important at identifying enemies who were low on HP and needed focusing. Making it so that you get wallhacks at any health below 100% means you can't tell who is low anymore. Maybe, when properly pushing this to PTR, make it so that there is a color gradient for wallhacks?
Edit - /u/IgnisTL suggested that the "low HP" color threshold be lowered to 30%.
