Learn Dota 2 - I need some help...

I need some help...

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 05:09 PM PST

I started playing since august last year. Im guardian 5 at the moment. I play in the sea region. As you know, this region likes an all carry line-up, like probably 90% of the time. To try and gain mmr and rank up, i play all support now. Im decent, like people thank me even if we lose, got like 500 commends, for perspective i play like about 5 games a week. Im not close to perfect though, got a lot to learn. But it always feels like the only way to rank up is to play carry and carry your team and i cant, cause its all carry. Players here dont understand the game completely, the mechanics, meta, teamwork, probably everythin dota. Ive been spamming my best heroes, ogre magi, dazzle, shadow shaman. Still no luck.

Do i expand my hero pool? Is it good to spam support heroes? Can a support hero carry the game?

Im a newb, please be kind. 😀😀

People laugh when I say that Bristle and Axe are op at low mmr....but they really feel like they are

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 06:33 AM PST

Title. I know that above like 2.5k these heroes are trash tier, but at my mmr they can snowball super fast and have good ways to win the lane. Axe is a weaker laner than bristle, who can just constantly harass with quills, but Axe can stand behind your tower and get free creepwaves with spin (the 1k Offlane pull lmao). Mid to lategame both heroes are incredibly annoying - Bristle can 1v1 and win vs any hero (I was 25k networth sven with all spells up and bkb, silver edge, died solo to 15k nw Bristle, even though we did win in the end). Axe can blink call and insta win teamfights. How do you counter these two heroes? They are without a doubt the two best offlaners in 1k mmr bracket.

Most Effective Way to Transition to Other Roles

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 04:42 PM PST

Hello /r/learndota2. I've been lurking on this sub for over a year and I've learned a lot from you guys. Today I have a question about transitioning my skills into other roles in order to be a more versatile player. Currently, I am Ancient 2 (4300 MMR) with a max MMR of around 4900 (before the ranks were added).

I mostly play pos 1 since that is where I feel most confident and have my best, and consistent, results. However, since safelane core is usually the most contested position in the picking phase, I often have to play a position that I am not fully confident in playing well or have an angry teammate that plays tilted; I am also tired being "that douche" with an 86% core pickrate.

I would like to learn any position except for mid since that is hands down my worst lane, but I will focus mainly on learning pos 4 and 5 since my offlane is passable. When I play 5 with hard disables I usually have a really good early game where I am active across the map and securing many kills. As the game goes on and the enemies are hitting their power spikes I can't seem to change my mindset for positioning and utilizing my skills without feeding terribly. Also, when the game leaves early game, I feel like I can't keep tabs on the information that I should be collecting such as warding/dewarding, useful vision, enemy positioning, my own positioning, win conditions of both teams, smoking, and more. I feel overwhelmed with the amount of tasks that are expected of me all while getting little farm and coordinating team fights and setting up pick offs.

Should I start with perfecting my pos 4 then making a smoother transition into pos 5? With pos 4 there is more focus on technical skills to win skirmishes and the ability to accrue a little more farm so I don't fall into ward hole of spending what very little gold I have on wards and ending the game with 2 maybe 3 items when I play 5.

Here is my dotabuff https://www.dotabuff.com/players/117731581 (on mobile so formatting is shit) I don't know if there are any obvious mistakes that I am making or if it is just a matter of playing support until my downfalls become second nature.

PS: I would also appreciate any relevant articles or videos that could help my situation. Thanks

How to play Templar Assasin in 7.08?

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 09:18 AM PST

I've seen people like Abed play it and it works for them because they are playing as a team and are well coordinated, but how to play TA currently in pubs? Do i ferry clarities and tangos more instead of investing on a bottle? Any kind of advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Help me improve - Learning stream on Twitch

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 01:41 PM PST

Hello everyone, I've been playing Dota on and off since 2014. I've finally started to actually get better at the game and I'm open to all constructive criticism. I think the things I currently struggle with the most is decision making and item customization. I'll be streaming on twitch at twitch for a few hours and hoping someone can come give me some tips. Also, if you're super new or a lower bracket than I am, feel free to join and learn with me. I'm currently a Crusader 2.

Mini map click delay

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 07:20 AM PST

How do you turn this on? I saw it in a post a few days ago about how it sucks then you're playing radiant and you accidentally click the minimap, now I can't find it.

What could I have done to win this game?

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 10:12 AM PST

Was our team simply outdrafted? Or did I go for the wrong item build. https://www.opendota.com/matches/3727232692 I'm pretty sure farm wasn't the issue, rather where it was applied. I played jugg.

Shift-queue in certain situations?

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 08:50 AM PST

I was wondering if anyone could help provide some input on effectively using shift-queue in Dota 2 in the jungle particularly, these are some questions I had in mind:

-What situations would it be the most appropriate to shift queue actions?

-How could you utilise shift-queue in the jungle to stack camps? During the night is rather odd due to the recent patch for instance..

-What other situations would shift-queue be useful in exactly? This is a mechanic which I feel can really help in certain situations however I'm rather unsure on how to use it.

Want to gain mmr? Win games. Want to win games? Be versatile.

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 12:12 PM PST

Seriously. Pick heroes, especially pos 3 and 4 that can build a number of ways depending on what your team needs. You can fix a lot of weak spots in your teams draft by picking up certain items each game. If the enemy team has an axe or legion with blademail that is killing your dumb PA, build a vlads/ac or a euls. Is that troll warlord erasing that same dumb PA? Boom, heavens halberd, glimmer cape, force staff.

The point is, pick heroes that are flexible in their item builds. You can change what you build at any point in the game but certain items are literally the turning point in the graphs in the post game charts. Heroes like bounty hunter, spiritbreaker, pudge, underlord, pango, tusk, tide, dark seer all provide some sort of teamfight or utility as well as the flexibility to build a number of ways. You just need to identify what will best help your team and build it. Sometimes this is actually damage and you can turn a traditional aura hero like underlord into a right clicker, or a bounty hunter with a deso and necro book can now take towers.

Good luck on that grind friends.

What could I have done differently as Sven?

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 02:09 AM PST

Match ID: 3733556618

Radiant: Sven Axe Earthshaker Windranger Necrophos

Dire: Wraith King Alarm Lich Jakiro Invoker

This match was kind of painful in the sense that I felt I had low impact on the game. To start, me as Sven laned with Shaker against Jakiro and Lich. It was a nightmare. I had 7cs by 10 min. I eventually recovered a bit and took to the jungle while split pushing. But by then we were down a lot of towers and it snowballed even more.

My item build: Treads MoM Blink BKB Echo Sabre Halberd. After getting BKB and blink to deal with all the disable and gap closing, it felt like I was just missing out on damage.

Looking back at our team we didn't have that much damage altogether. Is there anything I could have done or was it a drafting issue? Any input and expertise would be appreciated.

[Request: Open Dota link] What did I do right, What do i need to improve on...

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 03:49 AM PST

https://www.opendota.com/matches/3732994913/

Hi all ,

Played a nice game of LD yesterday in solo ranked ~1k MMR. As with that range of MMR its really hard to form a "normal" team so figured i would play a hero i am comfortable with.

Other than Dying too much, (trying to work on this) and Last hits before 10mins. I wouldn't mind some active criticism of things i can 100% improve on and things that i am doing well/ acceptable.

I am unsure if i got lucky with bear pushes and my micro is pretty average but i felt that the moment i saw them on the map i could freely push with the bear, due to their line up they would need to commit to a fight and loose towers or tp home and defend.

Any comments would be very helpful so i can improve as i am desperately trying.

Thanks

I need to better learn support

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 03:38 AM PST

I'm in low mmr. supports are supposed to stack and pull camps and you also go for cc and damage. That doesn't exist down here and I want to change that. The supports in low mmr are extremely dangerous and can attack at any time so I have to deal with them (hpc meme ftw). The only thing is supports need exp. Not so hard as cm since she can keep taking the big creeps from the camps because the freeze lasts for a long time on creeps and does damage but the other supports like litch im not good at doing it. I'vend that doing that cuts into your exp. Also my creep pulls are all wrong. It mostly causes a creep wave to crash into tower. I know I'm doing that wrong. Anyways when I play the higher mmr playstyle of support, how do I keep my exp up and not detriment my carry.
