If you're free, you're free

Hey all it's Champ from 2GG,

We're hosting an event on 2/24 with the goal of welcoming new players to the scene and improving the current players: Breakthrough 2!

With the event using round robin pools, you are going to play everyone in your pool instead of only being guarantee 2 sets.

Even then, no matter where you place in round robin pools, you will all advance to another bracket which guarantee an additional 2 more sets.

So in theory, you will play a minimum of 10 sets! That's 5 times versus the usual bracket format at most events.

Still, I been getting messages from people saying they don't want to enter because they're not ready yet and they might not win a single set. So an old friend of mine suggested this deal:

If you don't win a single set in round robin pools or in division 3 bracket, we will make sure you win by reimbursing your venue fee!

That way, you can attend risk free and solely focus on improving and experience the awesome smash community.

Because sometimes if you're free, you're free and that's ok.

Register by Feb 20th to save $5: https://smash.gg/breakthrough2

Mr. R's message to /r/smashbros

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 02:37 PM PST

TL;DR: Mr. R's going to be commenting on the subreddit when he sees misinformation rather than tweet about it. He also wants to hopefully act as a bridge between top players and /r/smashbros and apologizes for bashing Reddit so much.

https://twitter.com/Mr_RSmash/status/963902948328779778

"I will respond to misinformation from reddit, on reddit from now on

Not going to debate anything though, I'll just let you guys know when something is wrong or when someone is uninformed

The reason I prefered tweeting those stuff before was to show the general audience that upvoted comments or threads shouldn't always be taken as the truth

Some of those tweets came after enduring countless of upvoted threads or posts that spread misinformation. I guess it all just bottled up inside at times and I felt like venting

I could have admittedly done a much better job at pointing out misinformation or some specific flaws with reddit rather than just sometimes bashing it and putting it in a bad light... and for that I sincerely apologize

I know all of you just want whats best for the community and some of the misinformation is only posted because of the lack of communication from top players on the platform. I'll be posting there a lot more starting today and can hopefully act as a bridge between top players and /r/smashbros"

I did my first VOD analysis of Dabuz's top 8 run at Frostbite

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 04:29 PM PST

Back near the start of the game I had a little Youtube series called Match Breakdown where I would analyze a lot of small interactions in a given matchup or just general movement/decision making. I stopped doing those but I just started my new VOD analysis series appropriately titled Big Brain Rosa Main which is way more comprehensive than what I could feasibly do the first time around.

I really did try to cover everything in the sets that mattered, so each VOD is pretty long, but I am confident it's worth the watch to anyone who is looking for this type of insight.

The playlist can be found here. I would recommend watching them chronologically to see how Dabuz and Tweek plays differently after they meet the second time, as well as how Dabuz plays vs Bayonetta differently as he switches from Mistake to Tweek. But I appreciate any views/support/feedback for the vods. I streamed the whole thing yesterday at twitch.tv/fallnaway so this is taken directly from that.

Did Plup's Genesis 5 win prove we're living in a computer simulation?

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 01:17 AM PST

Okay, we need to talk about how he beat Armada, the GOAT and #2, 3-0.

It went down to last stock, last hit, and he traded with Zelda's lightning kick to win by a split second's difference. That small difference made him 3-0 Armada.

And then he got to Grand's in Winner's Side.

Not to mention he did it all without breaking a sweat. My man looked comfy as fuck. He just rolled out of bed, walked up slowly, and won Genesis 5. He never seemed the smallest bit distressed.

What's my point? My point is... I think it was too good to be true. i think such an outcome is a fanfiction-y ending, meaning our reality is a simulation/script that's being run, and the programmers decided to give us something we wanted.

Wake up Sheikple.
