Fortnite Event Timeline Update

Event Timeline Update

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 10:19 AM PST

Heya folks,

Last week we released a state of development for Save the World sharing the features we are currently working on and when we hope to land them!

Due to our internal concerns regarding the stability of our v.2.5.0 update the Valentine's and Spring it On events will be delayed a week. That means we won't be landing the dates stated in our State of Development v1.

We will be extending the current storm event in the interim in our 2.4.X update next week. (Seasonal Gold Reset will happen in v.2.5.0)

We want you to be able to play the game and feel this is the best bet for getting a stable patch out to you!

Here is an updated timeline:

Patch 2.5.0 (~2/14)

  • Valentine's Event
  • Special Valentine's questline - A Love Story, told the Fortnite way. ;)
    • Valentine's-themed Heroes
    • Cupid Crossbow
  • New reactive quest type
  • Opt-In Difficulty increase for greater challenge and rewards

Patch 3.0.0 (~2/21)

  • Spring it on Event
    • Week 1 of the 'Spring it On' questline released!
    • New Event Store items!
  • Complete in-game music overhaul (Orchestra Edition)

Patch 3.1.0 (~2/28)

  • Stamina Part 1 - Player Movement
  • Quest Map Improvements
  • Spring it on Event
    • Week 2 of "Spring it On" questline released!
    • New Event Store items!
  • Inventory w/ Crafting in FE

V.2.4.0 Coming Soon

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 10:08 PM PST

Hey Fortnite fans,

We'll be releasing a patch for PC and PS4. No exact time right now but we are hoping sometime in the morning. There will be an update to download but no downtime.

This is to fix a resolution problem that was making the screen seem stretched to some players. It's also a fix to increase the efficiency at which our backend services handle stress.

What do you guys think of the new wall launcher look?

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 01:48 PM PST

Change order of materials? Place the "stairs" before the "flat", any thoughts?

Events in Save the World

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 12:00 PM PST

Hey Fortnite Family,

We're back again, this time with some additional context around our event system cadence!

Event System

Since we began saving the world in July, we've run several smaller storm events in addition to the considerably larger Fortnitemares and Survive the Holidays events. Through running these events we've learned a few things about how the content is played, what things you like and what things you don't. One key thing we've noticed is that the bigger events (every six weeks-ish), while appreciated by the more hardcore players, tend to be a bit overwhelming to play all at once for most players.

So, what's next?

We are committed to delivering impactful updates to you more frequently. Events which happen more often and unlock content weekly, but can still build up (thematically) to big events like Fortnitemares. It's a change in how we deploy events, and to some degree how we tell event stories.

What does that mean?

Weekly event questline updates. During the event period we'll deliver quests once a week. Opportunities to make more small changes … faster. Example: How much damage that shiny new gun does. Event updates at a quicker pace. It's now possible for us to take lessons learned early on in a six week thematic event cycle and make the end of the event even better. You'll still have time! We haven't decided how long we'll leave the quests running, for now it'll be multiple weeks so you'll have time to play them.

Upcoming Events

Two weeks from now, you'll get to hop into our next event featuring a Valentine's Day story between some of our favorite Fortnite Friends. We'll also be adding a new weapon type to Fortnite: The Crossbow plus two new Valentine's-themed heroes!

Following that you'll have the Spring it On Event to look forward to, with Week 1 of our questline launching our v2.6.0 Patch. (Did we mention that has a whole new weapon set, and a weapon that shoots explosive bullets?)

Thanks again for being part of the community and we look forward to seeing what you think about the new events! (and explosive bullets…)

V.2.4.0 Update Today @ 1PM ET

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 09:25 AM PST

Incoming!

Patch V.2.4.0 will be releasing today at 1PM EDT(6PM GMT). We will be taking downtime and you'll have to download an update.

The V.2.4.0 patch contains a revert back to the V.2.2.0 version of the building bar system (fewer bugs), which should resolve some of the building issues you've been experiencing. We intend on finding a more permanent fix to make building and item selection feel more crisp in the future.

If you run into new issues please bring them to our attention on our social channels or by reporting them in-game.

Note: We are still tracking down a bug where the UI reflects you are in building mode when you are actually in combat mode.

What's coming? Find out here.

UPDATE 20:00 GMT: We currently do not have an ETA for the return of the servers, we will give players an update at approximately 21:00 GMT.

UPDATE 21:20 GMT: We are back! V.2.4.0 is ready to go, so get out there and see what it has to offer! Players may encounter a waiting room as they enter the game.

UPDATE 21:40 GMT: We are aware that some console players are having issues with resolution. Fixing this is a priority for us and we will let you know when we are ready to deploy a fix.

New armory UI doesn't feel good

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 04:34 PM PST

With this patch, you can't use V, C, L, F etc as hotkeys. This makes it feel really clunky when trying to click on a weapon, then having to select an option when before you could just hit V, L to inspect and level it up, or C and then mouse over something else to compare them. The hotkeys need to be brought back, because it's much slower having to use the mouse for everything now.

Purchasing Event items in bulk.

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 04:56 PM PST

Is there any way we can get this as an option? Certain items, such as blueprints, are able to be purchased in bulk. Items such as Flux and evolution items can't be.

I know it's not super important or anything, but it's frustrating to see that the ability is there, just not for all items. Y'know, the items people usually buy in bulk.

Like, im at my friends house for a good LAN party session of Fortnite BR on this nice friday evening but cant play because of the downtime. Im working everyday from monday to friday. I dont have anytime to play except weekends and im pretty sure im not the only one.. Can't you guys change the update time to like a monday every week? Let us play in the weekends :(

Global chat used to be fun. Now it's constant complaining about trades and getting scammed.

Patch 2.4.0 Undocumented Changes/List of Bugs Mega Thread

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 01:20 PM PST

New patch, new thread!

Known Issues

  • Players are sometimes unable to select card choice when opening an Upgrade Llama.

  • Items in the collection book cannot be evolved after leaving a zone.

  • When inspecting an item located in the players inventory the display image may not appear properly.

  • Dropped items may appear invisible to players, this is rare and the item can still be picked up.

  • Teammate Player Icons are not shown on fullscreen map

  • Hitching occurs during the in-zone day changing

  • The ability to edit placed structures may become locked

  • Chest loot speed is slower than normal

  • Tactical perk china shop does not scale damage for higher theaters

  • Inspecting a slotted survivor or defender on the Squads tab causes their portrait to persist in the background

  • Show backpack setting does not change when toggled

  • Playstation Trophy is not awarded in Save the World

  • Defender is summoned with previously equipped weapon on second Defender Pad

  • Name sorting does not apply to all items in schematic inventory

  • Station wagon cars are missing health bars and weak points

Undocumented Changes

  • You can walk through and shoot through (even shurikens) bushes now (They were solid before).

  • Friendslist comes from the right to left not top from bottom

  • "New" menu for changing heroes

Recurring Issues

  • placeholder

Multiple reports

  • placeholder

I posted a bug on this thread/previous threads, but its not on the list/never made it to the list!

Even if your reported bug does not make it on this list, it will probably still get visibility with upvotes. With that being said, I like to confirm something before adding it on this list. Ways to make this easier:

  • Provide a gif/recording with your post. If you do that then I can copy paste it and link it and boom, ezpz.

  • If its replicable, provide steps on how to replicate it.

  • What platform you are on.

Other reasons of things not making it on this list is if it ruins the "integrity" of the game (exploits).

Any chance we'll be able to hold more weapons at some point?

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 12:53 PM PST

3 is not enough.

We have melee/pistol/rifle/shotgun/sniper & have to deal with 3 different elements.

It's near impossible to swap your loadout in the heat of battle. If nothing else, maybe a designated spot just for a melee weapon.. or that emergency gun that will get you out of a jam- but you don't want to keep equipped all the time because it's so impractical and slots are limited.

-thanks

For those folks that want to finish the event quests fast !

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 09:50 AM PST

A great tip i will share , probably someone already found this as well , but ill share anyway .

1st: Find the "Modifier" that u want to do in a mission.

2nd: Try find that mission as rescue the survivors or build the radar (can be any mission tbh but i recommend this ones).

Just trigger a encampment and kill many as u can and let 2 or 3 survive and go away until the encampment is reset (repeat).

i was able to do "Life leech" modifier in 1 or 2 games , yes the 500 kills ;)

you welcome ;)

Enemies stuck inside mountains

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 05:20 PM PST

This happened every now and then before update 2.4.0, but just in a couple hours it has happened a lot. Enemies become stuck inside walls/mountains/places they should not be in. Below are some screenshots of the last time where a pitcher is stuck inside a mountain and we weren't able to kill/damage it, but it could damage us. This led to us to not being able to complete the encampment (good thing it was a bonus one and not the normal ones).. https://imgur.com/a/0bwkq
