Now that TaZ is off the VP roster I would love to see a 3 or 4 hours episode of Thorin's Reflections with him, we would learn so much about the team, it's ups and downs, make it happen @thooorin!

Thank you to everyone that's been on OpTic

Posted: 06 Feb 2018 04:34 PM PST

First off I want to say that before I started playing CSGO in late 2015 I never had a favorite team. I liked C9 and VP but I never had a clear favorite. After I heard that OpTic joined CSGO I honestly was so excited. I have been a fan since 2007, my best friend that I've known since Grade school knew that once OpTic went into the CS team they would be my favorite team.

First off I want to thank ShahZaM. When the old OpTic squad was Conquest he was in talks with H3CZ about signing with OpTic. He introduced the Greenwall to CS.

Thank you to daps for leading us to our first major. ESL One Cologne 2016. Thank you.

Thank you Stanislaw for leading the Greenwall to their first big tournament win that I will never forget. I wish things could have gone differently.

Thank you Tarik for bringing more firepower to the OpTic squad and keeping everything together when Rush and Mixwell wanted to leave. Congrats on the Major win.

Thank you Rush for playing so well and leading the squad to ELeague Season 2 win and brining us the W with frags. Congrats on the Major win.

Thank you Naf-Fly for doing the same with Rush. Helping out the team when we needed frags. I hope you have a great and successful time in Team Liquid.

Lastly Thank you Mixwell for keeping OpTic relevant in the CS scene. If it wasn't you we wouldn't have a European team we have today. Thank you for being the Main AWPER when you didn't want to.

Probably going to get a lot of down votes because of this but I don't really care. I hope everyone is happy with their teams.

I am organizing a new regional league, under the sponsorship of my university, and I need your help!

Posted: 06 Feb 2018 10:41 AM PST

Hello, r/GlobalOffensive! As a frequent poster and an avid CSGO fan, I wanted to ask you a few questions. Earlier this month I was contacted by my head of department regarding a recent LAN I organized. The LAN in question was the Burch Gameday LAN competition. It featured CS 1.6, League Of Legends and Pro Evolution Soccer tournaments.

Some pictures from the event: https://mega.nz/#F!jxcknSqZ!JO9INf89hGWjmdDSHNWzXg.

It had a relatively good turnout, so they allowed me to create an online league in CSGO/LoL and to eventually organize a LAN final at our university.

The questions I wanted to ask are:

  • Sponsors: who to contact and what to ask for? Our PC's aren't really LAN material, for CSGO at least, and I want to provide the best experience for the teams that qualify.
  • Prizes: is money better than peripherals, or vice-versa? We will have a dedicated budget available.
  • Age: what should be the age limit? This league will not require a certain rank, and it is primarily for high-schoolers since we want to attract a lot of them to our university's IT faculty.
  • Qualifier: what is the best way to organize a qualifier? Which platform is the best to use, has the best anti-cheat?
  • League format: what should the format be, should we try to copy ESL's rules or make our own?
  • Time: I wanted the league to take place during the summer, with the LAN finals happening at the end of August. I think that's the sweet spot for most young people (students). Should the matches be played every week, workdays or weekends, when is the optimal time for most of the participants?
  • Finals: we have a pretty big hall, which can take around 150 spectators. What is the best way to build the tables for the players, to play the matches? (stage in question looks like this: https://www.ibu.edu.ba/assets/userfiles/gallery/485/12210.JPG). What should the format of the final be? I wanted to do something like a BO3 phase, 1st vs 4th, 2nd vs 3rd, after which the victors battle it out in a BO3 final.
  • Servers: which service provides the best servers for CSGO? We need to have stable servers that we can use for two days each week.
  • Number of teams: how many teams should the league have? My initial plan was 8 teams, with the 4 top teams qualifying for the LAN finals since we're not sure about the turnout.
  • Marketing: how should the league be advertised? What are the best ways of reaching out?
  • Community: can you share this post? If you don't necessarily know the answers, can you send this post to people you think can help? We'd be extremely grateful for your help.

TL;DR: I need help in organizing a CSGO/LoL league. What are the things I should implement to have a successful event/league? Thank you for your help.
