True Dota 2 - So Shadow Fiend is just insane right now and no one is talking about it? Or why is he picked so much in high level games?

So Shadow Fiend is just insane right now and no one is talking about it? Or why is he picked so much in high level games?

In 5k+ he has a 33% Pickrate, thats 4% higher than Pudge. And while his winrate is 49.7% not insane, why is SF so picked right now, particularily if he doesn't have a winrate to back it up.

Command processing not behaving as it should?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 12:24 PM PST

Since the May 31st update, Valve changed how input processing works in Dota 2 (http://store.steampowered.com/news/29789/).

If I understand the wording correctly, you should not be missing any casts when you cast two spells in quick succession while an initial cast is still in progress. However, the behavior I'm seeing is exactly the opposite, that is, it behaves according to the "old" rules.

Say you're playing LC with blademail. You want to catch some enemy hero with duel that happens to be next to you already, so you want to go Press the Attack + Blade Mail + Duel. If you input this combo quickly enough, the Blade Mail activation is missed somehow. This seems to be very easy to reproduce because of the huge backswing of PTA (0.93). If you go Blade Mail first, things are working as you'd expect.

Is this a bug? How do you guys handle this; would you simply use blade mail first knowing it should be very slightly less efficient given that BM lasts 4.5s and PTA 5s?

When to draft semi-core supports?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:49 AM PST

When I say semi-core supports I'm talking about heroes like riki or monkey king that start off as more of a support role but mainly build damage items to scale with right click. When is this okay to do and when should it be avoided?

How do stars for the new rankings work?

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 04:48 PM PST

I was originally about 3.8k pre-update, but I hardly play ranked anymore. I calibrated as Legend 1 with mmr about 3.5k (very rusty as I hardly play ranked seriously and usually muck around with bots these days). I stayed at 1 star since the start.

Yesterday I played 1 good Mirana game (team was noticeably better than usual) and my stars jumped from Legend 1 to 4. Then I had another good Mirana game and then it jumped to 5 stars.

Any idea how that works? On a side note, can stars/medal decrease with losses?
