Port Priority 3 date MOVED to May 5th

Posted: 02 Jan 2018 01:14 PM PST

Hey everyone, Gyromight here with an update regarding the date of Port Priority 3 in Seattle, Washington.

After publishing the initial date of Port Priority 3 on Reddit and Twitter, I was quickly reached out to by a TO of an unannounced, but established major tournament. The TO expressed their concerns that Port Priority 3 would conflict with the date of the tournament that they've been planning, and that Port Priority 3 would, like Port Priority 2 before it, be overshadowed by a bigger event once again.

This isn't a post bearing bad news, however. Thankfully, the TO of the unannounced tournament reached out to me quickly enough, to the point where I was able to move the date of Port Priority 3 to a new weekend. After talking with my staff, other regional tournament organizers, and @xD1x himself, we determined that the best date for Port Priority 3 to run on would be Saturday, May 5th, 2018.

I'd like to give a huge amount of credit to the TO who reached out to me about the date of the event. He was proactive, easy to work with, and helpful in pointing me towards the right date, and for that I'm forever thankful. Because of him, both of our events will be able to get the viewership and entrants they deserve, without competing against one-another. More TOs should follow his lead and be proactive and quick when bringing up date conflicts to other TOs – as shown here, quick action can prevent drama and conflict down the road. This is a case study in how to handle conflicts like this.

With that being said, I'm aware that changing the date of a tournament as big as this can screw up the travel plans of those planning to come to Port Priority from afar. To those affected, I'd like to offer my sincerest apologies, and hope you understand why I had to move the date of the tournament. To make up for this, if you can provide me with proof of purchase (flight/train tickets for when Port Priority 3 was initially scheduled, combined with a receipt stating the date of purchase), I'm willing to refund your planned trip entirely. If you're affected in this way by this date change, please message me (@SSBGyromight) so I can refund your travel costs.

To wrap things up, I hope you can all join us for Port Priority 3, now scheduled for Saturday, May 5th, 2018. Top player invites will go out over the course of this month, with a trailer coming in early February, with a compendium and Smash.gg page opening not long after that. I hope to see you all there, and hope you enjoy all our region has to offer. :)

TL;DR: Port Priority 3 MOVED to Saturday, May 5th, 2018, due to a conflict with an unannounced major event. DM Gyromight to get a refund for already-incurred travel expenses. Thanks to the unnamed TO for being proactive – his prompt messages prevented a messy situation.

Presenting Mind Games! A Talk Show about mental health, personal growth, and much much more!

Posted: 02 Jan 2018 07:32 PM PST

Hello again r/smashbros!

On January 17, MVG D. Disciple and I will be premiering our new talk show and podcast Mind Games on his twitch channel. The goal for the show is simple: we want to shine a light on issues that exist in our community and in the general gaming community that are often hushed or ignored. Some topics that we will be addressing are mental health, gender divides, personal growth and development, self branding, overcoming adversity, and much more.

This is something he and I have been discussing for several months and we have been trying to figure out the best way to bring up these topics in a healthy and productive manner. With topics like these, we toe a fine line; it's hard to talk about these things without getting tied up in emotions and adopting a bias. Therefore, we are formatting our show much akin to a late night talk show. We want our guests and our audience to feel comfortable and to find a happy medium between levity and seriousness. We will balance the hard hitting discussions with jokes, memes, and other fun but will retain the focus of each episode and each guest.

Now for the good stuff -- What we have planned so far. Without spoiling too much, I can say that we have confirmed episodes featuring Zero, Hugs, PewPewU, the MEIDO girls, as well as TOs, commentators, and Smash personalities. Our first episode will air on [Disciple's Twitch](www.twitch.tv/ddisciple) on January 17 at approx 6 PM and will just be Disciple and myself discussing the show, our intentions, and what we want to accomplish with Mind Games. The second episode will feature TSM Zero discussing his upbringing, childhood, and how he became who he is today on Wed, January 31 at 6 PM.

I'm incredibly excited to be able to bring great content to you all and to bring attention to some hard topics in gaming. For more information and to keep up to date on the show, follow us on [twitter](www.twitter.com/MindGamesSSB)

Thanks r/SmashBros and have an awesome 2018
