enable a toggle option to show champion name instead of summoner name to benefit new players who are learning the game and do not know champions.

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 06:10 AM PST

i'm currently teaching my boyfriend how to play the game. knowing that there is over 130 champions in the game, it's a bit daunting to every new player. you need to firstly learn the name of the different champions and next their abilities.

i feel that this would benefit new players as they would become familiar with each champion that is on their team, or that they are against.

i have summoner names disabled as i prefer it that way, however if there was an option to use champion name instead of summoner name i would use it. we refer to people in the rift by their champion name, not summoner name. so why not have the option to change from summoner name to champion name?

it would really help out new players in my opinion.

Remember to be kind, you don't know what the person on the other side of the screen could be dealing with

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 02:28 AM PST

Today was a good day for me. I was gifted PROJECT: Vi, played with friends while on Discord, and had great time playing League overall. I'd like to share a little experience I had today, with someone who was not having the best of days.

After another Vi victory (this one was a brutal stomp), in post game chat I noticed the enemy AD Carry say: "I'm never playing league again for the rest of my life, good thing that will only be another two minutes," then leave the lobby. I'm not going to lie, I'm not a saint, but I don't fuck around with suicide. Too many people close to me including my immediate family, girlfriend and myself struggle with depression.

I immediately go to add them after the game, as I was unsettled by the post game lobby, and I wanted to make sure they were alright. Here are the chat logs, they were clearly heated by the game, but after talking I was glad to see they were not in immediate risk of self-harm. I probably came off as condescending to them, and maybe I should have said something else or worded it differently, but I was still quite disturbed by their post game message and wasn't thinking too straight. I just wanted to make sure they were okay.

Fast forward about 10 minutes after the events of the chat log; they apologized for getting angry, and asked me how my day was. I was really glad to hear back from them, and after some conversation, I offered to play a game with them. They reluctantly accepted. We ended up having a positivity filled, hard fought game that ultimately ended in a win for us. Now I'm not naive enough to think that makes everything fine and dandy, but I was just happy I could contribute to a positive game experience for the guy, and hopefully by that make his day a little less shitty.

Now I know some of you reading this might be say I took it too seriously or that League is just a game and no one would actually kill themselves over it. However, a lot of people play games as an escape, and if things are already shitty in real life and the people in game turn on you, it could easily be the thing that pushes someone over the edge.

I am not sharing this experience to sweepingly compel everyone who reads this to become an absolute angel in game. But I'm sure plenty of the people here (myself included) have said something harsh, cold, or downright nasty to other players. You never know the internal struggles going on within the person on the other side of the screen. You never know when a random act of kindness can brighten someone's day, or flaming can ruin it.

I know realistically nothing will change because of this post. I know I'm just yelling into the void that is Reddit, and I doubt many people will see this anyway. I'm horrible at writing/formatting, and I feel like I'm just rambling. But, I'm posting this anyway. If I didn't have hope in change, the world would just be too damn depressing. This is an amazing community around the game we all love (and hate sometimes), and I choose to believe in this community.

All it takes is stopping to think, and a little more empathy. Maybe, if there was just a little less toxicity each day, and we interacted with a little more genuine kindness, we can make something really amazing happen. :)

EDIT: A lot of you are sharing thoughts of positivity in the comments, or sharing related experiences. Call it what you will, but we are a community around League, and I'm really glad to be seeing so much positivity after waking up. :)

I just want to clarify that I would not have changed my actions in game, nor am I saying to "stomp less." Of course that happens, and I'm not saying that you need to always be on the lookout for protecting people's feelings. I could have told myself, "Eh, he'll probably be fine and was just angry," after the game to let myself fall asleep. Maybe he would have been fine if I did nothing, but I chose to reach out anyway because I had no way of knowing if he wasn't okay.

[Fan Art] I drew Zoe and her space pup!

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 10:47 AM PST

"..Perhaps her most curious new relationship is with Aurelion Sol. The cosmic dragon's arrogance, lies, and world-weariness annoy Zoe. In return, she teases the giant creature relentlessly, but when needed, she also protects her "space doggy" and his stars from Pantheon's wrath."

Loved the space doggy idea from Zoe's lore so I decided to explore it a bit. Had some free time after graduate school applications so here it is!

For how rare a honor capsule is, its content is a joke

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 01:13 PM PST

I got 2 honor capsules in 2 weeks now (before that I got 1 since honor exists) and both of them contained 2 champ shards worth 90 BE and 2 key fragments. With how valuable blue essence has become and how rare honor capsules (usually) are, it could maybe contain a bit more than 180 BE.

EDIT /u/korro90 pointed out that the system will be changed with the new season, I totally missed that so forget this post.

I know a lot of people have been upset with the new blue essence system, but these Prepare for the Journey Missions are pretty great.

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 08:16 AM PST

I mean they give 1200 blue essence and can be completed in any PvP game mode. That is a really good deal. I dont think Riot has given us this much free currency since those bonus IP weekends.

Hi there! I'm terrible at art, and my friends are asleep. Have a pixel Kayn.

This took me an hour and a half.

Bonus Poppy because I love her.

Kayn's my go-to jungler along with Eve, and I had too much energy to go to sleep, so I figured I'd do this and show you all. Pls no bully ;w;

EDIT: Here's an update of the Kayn sprite, for anyone interested in comparing them!

The last 975rp or under skin was Chemtech Tryndamere

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 11:59 AM PST

I find it pretty crazy that it's been 7 months since the last 975rp skin was released. Did Riot's skin department just abandon doing cheaper skins because they just want milk us of our money, or is this just a coincidence?

RunesReformed - Set your runes automatically!

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 12:19 PM PST

Hi reddit!

I've been coding a small program, that can automatically set up your runepages.

The idea came from an earlier program that used mouse movement to set the old masteries, but when i heard about the runes update together with the client update i knew i could make something that was better and alot faster, you can see it In Action here.

  • No clicking, full use of the LCU Api!
  • 170+ pages from Champion.gg (Plans to add more!)
  • Add your own pages!
  • Works in Champion select!

Download it from Github

List of every tilting scenario after 7 years of experience

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 05:19 AM PST

played this game since s2 and throughout my entire league of legends career i have seen tilt in every fashion imaginable. Feel free to post your own if you don't see it here. Here they are:

*edit: the fact that my list still missed 50+ things means holy shit league can be a fucking hyperbolic tilt chamber sometimes

TILTUS MAXIUMUS

  • every enemy lane wins in a stomp
  • your team's player(s) gets caught -> baron -> end game
  • your team's player(s) gets caught -> the rest get caught like dominoes -> end game
  • game is super buttclenchingly even and tense for 40 minutes and one teamfight decides your loss
  • afk teammate -> open mid (pre-remake)
  • winning at first but a series of failed teamfights/not grouping puts enemy too far ahead to come back from
  • losing a base race when ur team is ahead cuz no one wanted to back and stop tryndamere
  • inting and trolling teammates (dirty nunu pickers)
  • getting backdoored
  • get ganked and die -> tp back -> their jgler is still there and kills u again -> respawn and die walking back to lane
  • getting destroyed by an enemy smurf
  • ur teammate decides to first time a champ in ranked
  • autofill holds champ select hostage
  • get baron and try doing 1-3-1 but they engage on u 3 teammates killing them and wasting baron
  • playing a splitpush champ and tell ur team to DONT FIGHT but they do anyway
  • when u ping ur teammate that ezreal ulted and they dont move and die
  • when they pick the champ u always lose to and u think u can beat them this time but still feed
  • when ur team comp is shit going into game
  • when u win a fight and get some objectives but ur team overstays and dies letting the enemy get baron
  • when u miss every cs under tower
  • when u get cc locked for 7 years
  • when ur invading enemy jungle and fight their jungler for 20 sec but ur laners dont move
  • when ur team doesnt call MIA
  • supports that dont buy sightstone
  • when ur ahead but ur carry d/cs and u lose
  • win lane lose game
  • when their comp is so good u still cant siege with baron
  • all AD comp vs malphite
  • teammate accidentally takes wrong summoners
  • jungler forgets to take smite
  • jungler always misses smite
  • your jungler feeds your laner doubles
  • your support janna stands 15 ft behind lane to interact with twitch chat
  • knowing their comp outscales yours and failing to win mid game
  • have a comp that outscales but ur team thinks u have all early game champs and lose mid game
  • fail flash
  • enemy gets away with 10 hp
  • triumph comes in too late
  • invisible skillshots
  • thinking ur in an unwarded bush then getting slapped
  • laners wont let you get targon procs
  • your AD can't CS
  • seeing ur team pick a counter champ but still losing lane
  • generously giving someone your role and they still feed
  • getting counterjungled by everyone, even your own team
  • vaynespotting
  • trying to stop a backdoor but u keep getting ur recall stopped
  • seeing ur team build wrong
  • after a 2v2 your adc stays in lane with half a bar of hp and dies to their jungler
  • your jungler ganks with half hp or oom
  • your jungler ganks but there's too many minions and you die 1v2
  • your jungler ganks but theirs is waiting in a bush and u both die 2v2 or 3v3
  • your duo premade botlane feeds the hardest
  • teammate asks u to fp their champ and they still feed
  • your team having a kill lane that fails after 12 minutes instead of an adc
  • one trick pony begs for their lane and champ but still feeds
  • getting hit by the tip of a skillshot and dying
  • seeing u or ur team miss the EASIEST skillshot or ult
  • flash while typing
  • buy the wrong item and ur refund gets cancelled
  • buy the wrong item and not realize it until u get back into lane
  • ping ur jungler not to invade or gank but they do it anyway
  • jungler is 0-4 with their entire jungle still up
  • starting blue or red and enemy blitz hooks it to stall you
  • seeing a teammate afk in a bush or not help watch for an invade
  • invading and ur prime ccer misses their cc
  • getting taxed for a failed gank
  • clearing Baron wards in pit and u accidentally hit it
  • clearing Baron wards in pit and the enemy aggros it
  • lagging during a crucial teamfight
  • when a game is still completely winnable but ur child ego teammate decides not to play seriously anymore cuz u guys lost one fight and then u just slowly lose the game cuz now they afk push bot the rest of the game while spamming ff every time it's up

Nasus and Warwick being denied the spotlight for the YEAR OF THE DOG is stupid.

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 09:53 PM PST

When I realized that this year was going to be the Year of the Dog, I already knew that my wallet was going to get lighter. A few days later, I saw the skin previews up: Lunar Guardians Warwick and Nasus.

Thought to myself, fuck yes. My two favorite champs in the game getting amazing skins with a theme that is way more than fitting.

And then I saw a completely unrelated champion be part of the trio.

No, this champion did not have any canine features, hell, it didn't have any relationship to dogs whatsoever.

I saw Lux be the Lunar Empress or some fuck. She became the star of a theme that she doesn't even remotely resemble, which I find rather infuriating. At this rate, I'm sure it's just a cash grab, and while I'm not surprised, it's still very disappointing.

And yes, before you may point out, that skins are avenues for characters to become way out of character, the fact that it's the year of the DOG and not have either DOG be in the spotlight is sad. If loyalty was the key virtue that they wanted to express, why not cast Kindred as the avatar? They at least have Wolf, who could have been appropriately skinned for the event, and even more the fact that Wolf orbits Lamb like a... moon.

Also, if you point out that Wolf is not a dog, may I remind you that neither is Warwick, who is a hybrid of at least 3 animals that are not dogs themselves (wolf, bat and fox minimum).

So, yeah, at the end of the day, I'm still probably going to purchase both Warwick and Nasus skins with some chromas and both emotes because of my love for the characters. But at the back of my mind it still feels awful because they were robbed of their own event.

Informational Wallpaper (For second Monitor)

I found this really great wallpaper on r/summonerschool and thought I would share it with you guys

It has a ton of information presented in a neat and clean fashion, such as cooldowns of summoner spells with different items, spawn timers for jungle camps, vision areas of wards, and even a cheat sheet for minion wave management up in the top lane

Note: None of this is my work, the original idea was of u/internet_olympics, and was improvised upon by u/LucasBolognesi.
