Hearthstone - Streamer Sundays Weekly Discussion

Streamer Sundays Weekly Discussion

Posted: 06 Jan 2018 04:11 PM PST

Do you enjoy watching streamers? Do you wish there was an easier way to find new up-and-coming streamers beyond the well-known, established Twitch goliaths?

Do you have a stream yourself? Are you looking to get exposure but not sure how given how Twitch displays streams and how one-shot stream promotion posts on Reddit tend to get ignored? Is anyone still reading these questions?

This thread is for you!

If you are a streamer or know of a cool, lesser-known (read: doesn't regularly pull in 1K+ viewers) streamer feel free to post the URL and a short, informative pitch about why you feel others would be interested to watch it. Why should someone watch your suggested stream rather than one of the hundreds of other streams out there?

The next great streamer might be just one comment away.

Enjoy!

Tried a Standard Duel with a 7-character bot right after I played a standard game with them: "This player has no Standard Decks" (Only Blizzard could pull this off)

There's no way to hack Blizzard in a way to have 0 standard decks AND be playing a game in standard - Unless you are Blizzard. On a side note, if you challenge to a wild duel: "This player has no wild cards" - and Tavern Brawl? "This player has not unlocked Tavern Brawl"

I've been saying the same thing since the beginning. Only Blizzard could pull off this scale of bots overnight. It's no conspiracy: These bots are hosted by Blizzard (Could we get an official response?)

Here's the bugs that ONLY THESE BOTS introduce to hearthstone:

  • You can challenge them while they are in a game (You cannot do this with any other bot or human)

  • The spectate icon is lit up, but you can't spectate (If you disable spectating, it just shows a greyed out icon while they are in a game)

The only conspiracy here is why. Here's a couple possible reasons:

  • Blizzard wants to make the new player experience better (As someone with a new account, it definitely has)

  • Blizzard wants to improve their AI

  • ? (I'll let you guys make some other educated guesses)

Solo Adventures have no turn timer - then why do I lose when I disconnect?

Posted: 07 Jan 2018 08:43 AM PST

I recently moved and at the new place the internet fails every half an hour, meaning most of my Dungeon runs end prematurely and frustrating.

While it's understandable that a match against another player is forfeited if one disconnects for too long, there is no reason for this to happen in the solo adventures like Dungeon Runs of battles against the solo bosses.

Or at the very least it should not lose you the game after a few minutes but give you at least 15 minutes or an hour to reconnect.

3 wins adjustment

Posted: 07 Jan 2018 08:20 AM PST

I play both elder scrolls legends and hearthstone and i noticed how much better the game is for new players. Mainly the 3 win system. In elder scrolls after 3 wins you win at minimum more gols than in hearthstone (all costs are the same). 15 on average to 40 at max. That alone is a million times better than hearthstone but in addition you also get a free card as well. Just one. Mostly rares though and a small chance of common. Most importantly a smaller chance of epic. This would be amazing and make playing the game actually rewarding. Just an idea stolen from another dev.

Credit to u/noahirl for the actual math that i didnt use but looked at and based what i was saying on

Standard, Wild... X-Mode?

Posted: 07 Jan 2018 12:20 AM PST

In my opinion, the most fun you can have in hearthstone is during the first few weeks of a new expansion. Part of this is due to testing out new cards but the other major factor is all the unfettered experimentation going on with deck building. Before the meta's figured out, any crazy sounding decks just might work! (See spell hunter, kingsbane rogue and shaman) So what if we could get this excitement every month?

I propose that, in addition to Standard and Wild, a new ladder mode should be added: X-Mode (real name TBD). X-Mode would be a rotating subset of hearthstone expansions that changes every month -- thus giving a new meta to figure out every month!

What makes sense to me is to have 4 sets at a time:

  1. A current year expansion.
  2. A set from the previous year.
  3. A wild set.
  4. The Basic OR Classic set.

Extra rules:

  1. When a new expansion comes out, it takes the current year slot.
  2. Sets cannot appear two months in a row but they probably shouldn't repeat for 3 months. Exceptions could be made for the latest expansion and Basic/Classic sets obviously.
  3. Adventures should be included! It may be fun to have some months with smaller card pools. If this is found to be not the case than consider including two adventures at once (effectively 5 sets).

For instance, in one month you could have K&C + WotOG + LoE + Basic cards. The next could be Un'Goro + MSoG + Nax + Classic. If the right sets align, who knows what cards or archetypes could become top dogs (if only for a month). I think a game mode like this could give a lot of replayability to hearthstone without requiring anything too drastic. Likely there would be a decent amount of backend work involved but it would leverage our existing collections so no new card designs, artwork or voice acting would be required.

Anyway, these were my thoughts before going to bed. Let me know what you think.
