| Posted: 24 Jan 2018 07:41 PM PST I know I know this is all old news. However I was affected today for no obviously apparent reason. I clicked on the "Grand Theft Auto V" shortcut on my desktop and as soon as social club popped up, It informed me I had been suspended for 30 days and that my online character would be deleted. This is all before the game even opened. . So I went to the link provided by the suspension notice, explaining that "All GTA Online suspension and banning decisions are final and may not be appealed." I figured I'd give it a shot anyway and hit the submit ticket button. I typed out what had happened only to find after clicking "submit" An auto reply comes up saying the same thing the link in the suspension had said. . I figured from here that I'd have to at least try to talk to a human being. I submitted another ticket, this time stating that I was having trouble connecting to GTA online. I filled out my issue without mentioning it was a ban/suspension and waited. Their reply was as follows: R*:After looking into your account, it appears that your account has been temporarily suspended. Me:What is the reason for this? Rockstar support then began giving the run around copy paste notes from the ban page, to which I replied: Me: I was not attempting to play online, I was only attempting to open the game when the notice popped up. What would be the reason for this? I clicked the "grand theft auto V" logo on my desktop and instantly recieved the notification. R*: Unfortunately because we are unable to assist with these cases, I wouldn't have any further information to provide you. Me: who would be able to assist me in such matters? Rockstar support then provided the link to the ban policy once more and asked if we could move along to something they could actually help with. I wasn't done. Me: so , no one is able to give me information on the suspension? I apologize, I am not trying to irritate you in any way, only trying to get to the bottom of this. R*:As we are unable to assist with these cases, checking the Suspension and Ban Policy would be the best course of action Me:I understand you are unable to assist with the case, however, do you know who would be able to? The link provided does not direct me to any personnel that would be able to help R*: I understand you are looking for more information through chat. Unfortunately, no one at Support handles suspensions or bans, and there is no further information regarding suspensions. . So NOBODY at rockstar is available to help with bans. Rockstar has an automated system that decides who to ban and relies on the players of the game to report those who are cheating, interfering with other players experiences, abusing game mechanics, etc. Seems like an easy way to abuse the system. . I continued chatting even though I had pretty much my answer. Me:Would you be able to provide me with information on who to contact in these cases? If nobody at support handles these cases, who does? R*: Regrettably, we do not have a specific person for you to speak with, as all bans and suspension are final. . They gave me another "I can't help you with this anymore, is there anything else I can help you with" notice. But I wasn't done. Me: Would call in support have any other information for me? Do you know the reasons why all bans are permanent, and non-appealable? R*: Unfortunately, no-one at Rockstar Support is able to provide this information, no matter which Support channel you go through. The information is not available. We do apologize for the inconvenience. . Then this happened. They threw in a nice little line that I was not honestly expecting. I acted somewhat oblivious to see how much they would sa, and they pretty much gave me what I wanted. Me: [in regards to the ban] and no one is able to provide me with any information as to exactly why? R*:That is correct. As previously asked, Do you have any other issues or concerns unrelated to this topic? Me: And my character and all progress will be deleted as such? R*: Yes, your progress will be deleted. Keep in mind, it does not affect Shark Card funds. . So I get to keep what I paid for, that's nice. Let's continue. Me:So I can just buy more money from rockstar to be able to get back to where I was previously? R*:Once you are able to access your account, you are able to purchase Shark Cards to help you regain your properties as well as Items, However, you will need to play the game in order to gain RP and rank. . FANTASTIC! So I can pay you HUNDREDS of dollars to replace everything I've grinded 300+ hours to get! Thanks rockstar!! I continued for just a bit longer to try to get some more information. Me: Okay so I can buy all my money back once the suspension is lifted? What can I as a customer do in the future, if nothing has stood out to me for reasons why I was suspended, online profile deleted, and no one is able to explain why? R*: To help prevent this from happening in the future, I would suggest doing a Clean installation of the game. Also, make sure there are no third party programs. If you need help to do a clean install, I am more than happy to assist you with it. . I played dumb and asked what was meant by third party programs, the reply was about what I expected. "What I mean by third party programs is any programs that may affect the installation of the game or other important game files." and that was about the end of our conversation other than thanking them for their time. . With almost every server I've been on in the past month, there's been a huge influx of hackers using god mode and destroying everyone in the lobby. One hacker even took the CEO and MC capabilities away from one of my friends, just before he was randomly banned. . Last thing I'll say, and I honestly don't expect this to get traction, as it is complete speculation. These random bans in line with what rockstar has been doing for years in GTA online. I find it curious though that all these bans are happening just before Red Dead Redemption 2's release. I've had 2 other friends banned in the last week (while playing however). Are they trying to clear people off for Red Dead 2? It just makes no sense for them to ban me when the game hadn't even opened yet. Any complaint to rockstar though appears to still fall upon deaf ears. I hope they don't do the same for Red Dead 2, but I currently cannot see myself playing it. It's such a shame.
